My Wiimote has been working perfectly ever since I got it on launch, I was actually playing it yesterday with no problems at all. Today however when I loaded up the game, motion sensitivity wouldn't work.

All the face buttons would work and I know the sensor detected it because I had the little pointer thingy showing up, but all things that require Wiimote actions lke waving it did not work.

Anybody know what might the problem be/experienced similar problem and found the solution?

Try resyncing the Wiimote. Or replacing the batteries. If those don't work then you might just have to call Nintendo and tell them to fix it.

No I'm not kidding.

Turn the Wiimote over so the buttons face down. Then proceed (I'm not kidding) to spank it.

That was one of the few things I tried, it doesn't work. I even resynched and replaced the batteries as someone suggested but it won't work. I guess I'm going to have to give Nintendo a ring =(

Check the motion sensor functionality by holding the Wii Remote with the button side down. Without using much force, tap the button side of the remote against the palm of your other hand. Doing this does not take a lot of force, so be sure not to tap the Wii Remote very hard.

Straight from the big N website. I did this the other day and it worked right away for me..

It happened to me too and the spank thing worked. You have to spank it somewhat hard.... if it doesnt work, just leave it a while and try later again, eventually it would start to work again.
