And Alexsays, I have a question for you: Did you like Symphonia 2 better than the original? Which one did you play first? I played the original first and just loved everything about it. I'm about 22 hours into part 2 and really like it as well. Not as much as the first but I'm glad the story is a really good one because when it comes down to it, IMO the story and characters are by far the most important part. I love the stories in tales games being all emotional and cliched.
And not to beat the world map topic like a dead horse, but Tales of the AByss did it how you explored the world map like in Symphonia, but then as you progress into the game, there is an auto pilot mode that you can automaticlly transport yourself to places you already went to.
I played the second first and liked the second more. Playing in a different order no doubt changed my views on the original though. There were a lot of things in the second game I really missed in the first.
I really liked the cel-shading in the original, but the look of the game was probably the only thing I thought it did better than it's part-sequel. Even though I wish it kept the same look, Tales 2 had more of the little things I liked, like more/better voice acting, free-roam in battle, the monster catching/training.
I also liked the story of (won't give anything away) Emil and Marta more than Lloyd and Collette. Near the end of Tales 2 I was so attached to those too I even got a little teary during one scene.
Which reminds me, why did they give Collette's thing to Emil, you know how she says sorry after everything? Emil is like the male version of Collette in the original, except less brave. I guarantee Tales of Graces will have a character that apologizes after everything.
And about Tales of Abyss, Symphonia also had one girl that asked you "hey will you take me to this place" and if you said yes you automatically arrived there. Can't remember the port though she asked (Palmacosta maybe? I don't know) or where she asked you to take her (mountain place with that grumpy old guy that you had to beg to borrow his book)
I think that's the only thing like that though in Symphonia, but I'd be happy if Tales of Graces did something similar. As long as you travel somewhere once, have an auto option for those who don't feel like walking again. I mean Lloyd and Emil didn't need to lose weight or anything.
Interesting; I'm sure if I played the 2nd one first it might be different for me too, I guess it's whatever we get used to. I'm going to need to play TOS2 more again so I can get to that ending you are speaking of. Thanks for not putting any spoilers in there. One thing I am sure of, Graces will likely have a great soundtrack. I listen to the ToS and ToA OST's all the time while I'm working to pass the time. ToS (and ToS2) have some of the BEST soundtracks of any game IMO. The music fits the games so perfectly. My favority track is the one that plays while Raine is doing the dance at the Seal of Wind in ToS (and they play it all the time in ToS2). It's called Shining Dew; look it up on youtube if you don't know what I'm talking about.
