New Super Mario Bros. 2: Retail vs Digital Download?

So there's been a lot of people saying that they'll definitly be getting New Super Mario Bros. 2 from retail stores, and not interested at all in the downloadable verison from the e-shop. However I'm a bit torn. I look at it like this. This game whether it is good or not, will be the VERY 1st retail game EVER to be released digitally by Nintendo, and to have that version would be kind of cool. Also, you don't really have to worry about losing the game because it will be on your system. But, I do know that having a physical copy of a game is much more rewarding. So I'm kind of torn. How will you purchase your copy? Why?

I bought mine retail. I hate digital copies. I want to have what I purchase.

when angry birds comes out...i will buy that on digital...but not super mario..im getting that physical.

Why would I buy a digital copy especially when it's £40 on the 3DS store in the UK. I got my copy of NSMB2 for £27. I'll always choose retail over digital since I like to physically own my games.

I downloaded it last night, mainly because I wanted to see how smooth Nintendo could make the process. It was up at midnight on the nose and downloaded without a hitch within ten minutes.

I would've gotten it at retail if I had found a really good deal pre-launch, like $10 off, but nothing like that showed up that I could find. I was also worried at first, like others have said here, that I'd be screwed if I ever lost my 3DS. But I've never lost a handheld in my life, and I don't have the kind of lifestyle that would make me prone to losing it, so there's no sense in worrying about that.

It's also the perfect kind of game to always have on my system no matter what.

Maybe if there were some sort of savings in buying digital (as there always should be), I'd go with that. But as it stands, I see no reason to buy it on the eshop.

I am getting it retail after work. I don't buy digital games from DRM-laced services (eShop, WiiWare, PSN, Steam, XBLA, etc). Either I get a physical copy or a DRM-free digital copy (GOG, Indie Bundles).famicommander

What does DRM have to do with eShop games? You can only play it on a 3DS anyway....JordanElek

Definitely retail. The 3DS just isn't designed to store many DD games. Hell, even the other system can't hold that many DDs. Until internal memory gets up into the three digits, it's not a viable option for me.JustPlainLucas

And whenever Nintendo decides to not let us redownload our games from their servers, I'll just make sure I have everything I want on an SD card. I don't really see the problem with that, and I still don't see why DRM is a factor.

My guess is that Nintendo will upgrade the way it organizes online stuff once the WiiU is out. The obvious solution is already prolific enough for them to just copy it from every other company that does it.

£40 on the eShop compared to £30 or less for a physical copy... yeah I'll be getting a physical copy, and if the rest of the games get priced the same way I wont be buying any off the eShop.

While I do agree the games being attached to the system, not account, is silly, the same could be said for the Wii, and in particular, its virtual console service. Ultimately, for me, the benefits of digital over physical outweighs the potential risks.

If digital was about 20% cheaper (and it damn well should be) then I would go digital. No discount = No digital buy.

I was set on buying digital until it sunk in that Nintendo's system for downloadable games is still pretty cruddy. Until they get it so the games are tied to your account and not a device, I am going to buy retail when possible.
