Okay, I have a decision to make. I want to get New Super Mario Bros. But I don't know which version to get. It's the talk of the Wii boards, but it isn't even mentioned here. I want to known which version you guys think is better. Oh and do either of them have Online Play with Wi-Fi? Thanks in Advance

To answer your question, neither have online multiplayer, the Wii one has 4 player splitscreen co-op, and the DS has a 2 player competitive mode and 4 player minigames mode. I recommend you get The DS one.

Thanks mate. One question: Is there anything different about the gameplay itself from the two systems versions? I mean, WII version came out 3 years after the DS version, or so I've heard

As far as I know, there's a difference. I own the DS version, and from what I've seen, the Wii version is way different. It has more power-ups and abilities, for instance. But the DS one indeed has minigames, so I'd recommend getting it as well.

They are both completely different games. Its not like its a port or anything, they just both have the same "New" in the title. NSMBW is a much harder game though, so take that into consideration. Also think about if portability is a plus for you if you're only going to get one.

Yeah...they're not versions of eachother, they're completely independent games.

NSMB DS - Portability, much easier gameplay, minigames for when you need a break, good old Mario gameplay.

NSMB Wii - Epic, challenging gameplay, better multiplayer, better level design, new powerups, good old Mario gameplay.

They're both pretty awesome, so yeah, get both.

Get the Wii version if you have people to play with. It is a blast. DS version is great as well but if I had to pick between the two, I would get the Wii version.

Thanks Dudes! I've decided to get the DS version for Christmas with my new DSi (Arriving for my B-Day sometime next week) and then I'll get the Wii version after it's price drops a bit :D

Sorry, but the Wii NSMB is the superior game. Even if you have to play by yourself it's just made better. Unless you absolutely love zany multiplayer mini-games, I'd say get the Wii game.

The DS title is amazing. But I'm waiting to try the Wii title with the family. As it stands now I have to compete for DS time with the kids. I surprised to hear that they are that much different? I'm assuming the story-line is similar, but like you said the powerups adn specials along the way are slightly modified to fit the format?

There you go, that works.

Don't expect a price drop on a first party Mario game, though. Hell, I think New Super Mario Bros. for DS is still the same price it was at release, and Mario Kart DS is still $45.
