I picked up a supposedly new copy from eBay. I got it in the mail just now and I suspect it's counterfeit. It only came with the manual which is odd for a Nintendo 1st party game. Usually it has Club Nintendo and Nintendo Power inserts. It also doesn't work on my DSi XL.

If it comes from a place like Hong Kong, Taiwan, etc, don't buy it.

It's a counterfeit. Lesson learned- don't buy handheld games off of eBay.

Now trade that sucker into GameStop to at least get some of your money back.

Some people might have moral compunctions against selling a known counterfeit to a store, knowing it will likely end up in some other gamer's hands... For what it's worth, I have bought many new and used games off eBay w/o problems. I do make sure never to buy from overseas though, mostly because of shipping but also because that's where most counterfeits/scams seem to originate.

I just checked. My copy came with 4 inserts including the book and a club Nintendo offer.

Whilst i'm sure there are genuine sellers in these countries, you're more likely to have purchased a fake item than a genuine one.

Thanks all. It definitely appears to be a counterfeit. I reported the seller to Nintendo (they've probably sold 20+ copies already) and eBay. eBay's reporting system is a dinky little thing where you just give them the item number; no room for adding explanations or anything. The guy was based in the midwest in the US, btw.
