Preorder Chart!
This is great and refreshing news. I've become more and more excited for this game as it es closer to release. I have mine preordered :)
Here's hoping they're right and it can reach at least 750,000 by release.

It's fricken $130 at EB Games and Gamesmen (that's the same company as Gamestop to those who don't know).
A HUNDRED AND THIRTY DOLLARS!!!
Standard brand new Wiigames here in New Zealand are usually $110, maybe even$100 at EB Games. It only goes above $110 if it comes with a peripheral(Wii Sports Resort + Wii Motion Plus, Animal Crossing + Wii Speak etc.), and NSMBWii does not come with any peripheral (the pre order does come with a Mario baseball cap, but that is coming FREE with the game, so the standard price is still $130).
This is an outrage.
[QUOTE="Jaysonguy"]Where?Right now everyone is getting it for 37/38/39 dollars.
OreoMilkshake
The largest online retailer, Amazon
So there's a retailer that is making up a good chunk of these preorders and the game is selling in the mid 30's
It's so difficult to predict what these preorders mean because the games are coming at such a deep discount. Also this is a first party Nintendo game and those have a history of staying high so even if someone isn't sure on the title they'd rather get it discounted now then full price later.
The real test for the title will come once it hits market for a few weeks, then stores wont be trying to lure people in (or online) with the latest thing and it's true drawing power will show

10 dollars off a future game purchase? Yes I saw that.Neato. Anyone notice that the next Wii game on that list is DJ Hero at #27? That's kind of sad.Arc2012and yet people on this forum argue with me and say that there are plenty of quality Wii games, I'm just overlooking them. But really I wish Crystal Bearers was higher on that chart, the game look awesome.

i am going to preorder my copy by the end of this week. i feel that there are plenty of quality games on the wii, but people's needs differ. i am really busy all the time and when i get to play games for an hour or two it's a treat. here are some reasons for my business -------> career, wife, and newborn. those are the reasons i don't like to play as much as i'd like too.

Exactly
So it's 36.99
Many stores do that for a lot of pre-orders no matter what game it is or what console it's on.Not so much to the extent that Amazon does but yes, many stores these days offer incentives for preordering games otherwise preordering is useless
That's brings me back to my point that looking at preorders doesn't mean much because everyone is getting something for preordering
The real test for a game is when the incentives are gone and someone is paying full market price for the item.
Certain games like Wii Fit and Mario Kart have no problems with full market price

this reminds me, i need to preorder this and assassins creed 2...i wonder if any other ones i want are offering the coupon...Those MW2 numbers are staggering. 1.7 million already preodered on 360 alone? That game has an outside chance at cracking 3 million in the first week between the 2 consoles with already 2.3 million preordered. But on topic, I wasn't expecting this to be that high up. I haven't preordered it yet because I'm not sure if I want it or not, but the $10 off on Amazon may drive me to preorder it anyway so I can use it on Crystal Bearers or Bayonetta.
If NSMB DS is any indication, we can expect New Super Mario Bros Wii to dominate the sales charts for the next couple years, let alone the preorder chart.

If not dominate the sales charts, but have the "legs" to stay in them for months or even years (mostly due to word-of-mouth). This is something that so-called "mature" or "hardcore" games do not have, as they are often "front-ended" with high sales in their early weeks, then fall off the charts never to return.
]What in God's name told you that? If you buy a game with a deal for 10 dollars off a future purchase, you can't use it on what you purchased it with.OreoMilkshakeI think he's talking about how once you get the $10 coupon, you pretty much save 10 dollars because the next time you buy a game you pay 10 dollars less for it. So if you bought NSMB now for full price and say Spirit Tracks for 10 dollars off later on, you pay NSMB price + Spirit Tracks price - $10. So you save $10.

A week or two before Metroid Prime Trilogy came out, that was the third most preordered title on the list and there were like five or seven Wii titles in the top 20 alone! That was a good month lol. It just got slow. I think there's only four or five titles to look forward to for the rest of the year now: RE Darkside, Silent Hill, New Super Mario and Call of Duty. And I myself am also still waiting for Shaun White and DJ Hero.

I won't buy mine till GamesTracker.com tells me that the game has dropped to £19.99 or less but that certainly is good news. Here's hoping that New Super Mario Bros. Wii reaches 20 million units sold like its predecessor.

If you're getting ten back on your next game then the only reason you're not saving ten dollars is if you never buy another game for the rest of your life, then that ten dollars is lost forever.
If New Super Mario Bros is your last game ever in your life then yes, that ten is gone
If you're going to keep on buying games (like everyone here but Oreo is doing) then it's ten dollars cheaper.
You're saving another ten dollars, there's another ten dollars that you'll never be asked to spend because it's already taken care of

This ^^^^ I think is the debate settler of the argument.
-The argument started with the claim the New Super Mario Bros. Wii would cost you only $37 on the Wii.
-Then it was revealed that what actually happens is you pay the full price of $47 for NSMB on Amazon, and then recieve a coupon for $10 off your next game purchase on Amazon.
Now, while that is a great deal and completely worth using Amazon to preorder and buy NSMB if that's what you want....it does not makeNew Super Mario Bros. Wii a $37 purchase. Which was what the argument was initially about. That's just how I saw it. No names...who cares who was wrong or right.
