Im pretty sure there will be new color Wiis some time down the road. However right now, the main focus is meeting the demand. Then they can worry about making new colors or whatever. Seriously why would someone want a DVD player now?? Blu-ray and HD-DVD are already out and they are the future formats. DVD is dying.

Don't expect to see one until demand dies down. Making two different kinds of one product takes more time. I'd expect a price drop before that happens though.
Why is it a joke? a new version of the DS came out in that ammount of time, and the Xbox 360 elite came out after its second holiday season....but the wii has a higher demand, so it would take a little longer.
Ya I painted parts of my wii and wii remotes and it looks sick. I only painted the parts that come off the wii like the stand, top and removable back of the wiimote. I also put a mario logo sticker on the side of the wii and not some crappy one it was proffessionally done because my dad is a graphic designer. I don't recommend doing it unless your good at painting and designing.

the new wii colors are gonna probably come out may of 2008 with black but still it wont have dvd support or did u guys miss the confirmation that only japan is getting a dvd wii and since there is region lock u cant play online with it even if u imported it, plus every one has a dvd player lol and any way wii may not even see the black one till 3rd christmas season which is supposed to have more save space or at least thats the only rumor i heard.
While I agree with the "why would you want a Wii to play DVD's" The statement that DVD is "dying" is not supported in the slightest by sales numbers of BlueRay, HDDVD or event the two combined. Most consumers don't care at this point, it's like another SACD. Superior format and quality, but many can't tell the difference and don't want to rebuy licences to view content they already own.

2009 is their third holiday season. I doubt that they will wait that long if they are going to make a move. I stand by my statement that a WiiWare download can make DVD's playable. With the market of customized and replaceable skins for consoles and remotes seeing a boom in this generation, I think that we won't see Nintendo enter this particular market. The options that are available right now are huge in range and are fairly cost effective.
An external Hard Drive/Fan combo that used the USB slot would be most feasible to me. The 360 has shown how tough upgrading a console midway through its life can be. I don't think that Nintendo feels it has anything to prove with this particular system. They'll take notes for improvements for their next system, but the Wii in all of its pale glory will continue its world domination in its current form.
I think it wont come out in the US at all. They have said multiple times that it may not. the japanese love to save space in their homes. if they could consolidate the wii and dvd player into one thing they will. this is part of the logic that went into making the wii so small after all.
If it does come out here I say 2009. Makes no sense to do it anytime soon.maybe it will happen after the price drop and be a more expensive version for $250 after it drops to $200.
I also think it will had a 1Gig hard drive.
Still, I don't think it WILL come to the US so even if it hurts your little hearts. lol
It's possible. Nintendo did say they were going to make a version of the Wii that could play DVDs. And I'm pretty sure they said it would be released before the end of the year.
