Hello guys,

I am 30 years old, married and I work as broker dealer where I live. I got my 3ds two days ago, and my wife bitched at me that I was too old for that crap lol. Anyways, how old are you guys and what age do you think the 3ds is meant for? I am by no means doubting my purchase, its just that I dont see any of my friends with a 3ds :D Btw, one of the main reasons I got the 3ds was for Zelda, but I plan on getting many more games.

I'm 29 and I started gaming at about 21. I have a pink DS lite and a pink 3DSxl, along with a Wii and other systems. I like a range of games, but I do play "kid" games like Harvest Moon and Cooking Mama. My boyfriend is 44 and owns the original DS, DS lite, a 3DS, SNES, Game Cube, PS1, 2, and 3, both X-boxes, some Ataris, etc.... You're never too old for gaming. I think that's why there's such a wide range of games available.

I'm 19. But that's irrelevant.

The truth is: You're too old for Windows 8. Grow the **** up and use a real man's OS. Get some true UNIX under your belt by running one of the many distros of Linux. If you're feelin soft though, Windows 7 is cool too. GTFO with that 8 crap though.

24 here. Almost 25. Been gaming since I can remember. I play all sorts of games, I don't care about the "maturity" associated with it, I just care aboiut whether or not it's fun.

EDIT> Btw, you should get Luigi's Mansion 2. It's heaps of fun.

I'm 26, been mostly into handheld gaming for some time now, we'll see if any of the next-gen consoles can change that. Interests lie in Zelda, Mario, Resident Evil, Metroid, F-zero and so on.

Going on 20 shortly. If loving my 3DS and the great games for it is wrong, than I don't want to be right.

23... but yeah, it doesn't really matter. People shouldn't give up harmless hobbies they enjoy because of what other people think.

I'm 21. I meet tons of people at university with 3DS' and everyone is in their 20s. Of course, I see kids with 3DS' as well but that's the magic of Nintendo, they have stuff that appeals to everyone.

Enjoy your purchase and ignore the wife; she just doesn't get it, a lot of people don't. ;)

21. 3DS is for everyone. Doesn't matter the age. Do people b*tch about an adult watching a Pixar movie? No. Same goes for 3DS. If they do, they either are very ignorant, or just downright insecure.

Your wife should be more supportive of your hobbies. The people who tell others that gaming isn't an adult's hobby are becoming more and more seen as outdated.

People use to tell others not to read certain books, watch films, TV, listen to non-proper music because it was childish. In 20 years I imagine this stigma will go away.

I'm 25 and I work as a logistics manager. I have a fiancée, and she supports my hobbies. Sometimes she even joins in on gaming with me. I've been gaming ever since I was a kid. I believe I started back in 1991 or 1992. :)

Love my 3DS by the way.

Im a 26 year old married female with 2 kids and i game all the time, i love my 3DS. It's sad that you're wife doesn't understand, i do know how you feel in a way though because non of my friends have a 3DS and most of them wouldn't even know what one was. I plan on gaming until i get bored of it, not when someone tells me im too old!

I'm 24 and my Mrs is 21. We both have 3DS systems, and I'm getting the Fire Emblem 3DS XL Bundle later this month. She doesn't play much on home consoles, unless is a co-op game like New Super Mario Bros or the LEGO games, but over the last two years she's really gotten into handheld gaming, and she's recently finished Tales of the Abyss and is currently playing Luigi's Mansion 2.

The only game shes ever questioned me playing is Pokemon, but to be fair I have seen her eyeing the case for Platinum a few times, so maybe she'll be willing to try them.

I turn 25 later in the year and couldn't be happier with my 3DS. Video games have always been a hobby of mine since my Dad bought me a Gameboy for my sixth birthday. I honestly don't pay attention to anyone who judges me for what I do in my personal spare time. I have always found is discouraging that people question their hobbies when others try to put them down or criticize them.

At the end of the day everyone has different interests and hobbies and some people can't understand this. It's sort of like how some people I know still harp on me about playing video games and spending hundreds of dollars a year on it. I just tell them the same reason they probably go out every weekend and spends hundreds at the bar - because it makes me happy.

By no means does she criticize my hobbies. I game all the time on my Pc and PS3, might have exaggerated a bit! I mean she wasn't "bitching" about my purchase, she was just a little bit rattled when I got my 3ds, that's all. Anyways, its my money after all and I provide for us comfortably so there really isn't a problem. BTW I don't see her playing video games any time soon, as she's technologically handicapped lol. I might convince her to get into WoW, its just one of those games that hooks you immediately. Its awesome that couples here share this hobby. Who knows maybe I'll force her pick up the 3ds haha :D

hehe, I'm 33 and the DS was my console of choice this generation.

Handhelds are great for leveling up on the couch or playing a bit before bed...the RPG selection has been awesome for the DS.

I too just got a 3DS XL a few days ago.  Castlevania was the game that made it happen and Shin Megami coming out soon is another one, and now there's a backlog I can jump into.

I get the stigma of handhelds are for kids, but it's a silly stigma and I don't care.  It's hard to explain to a non-gamer, yet everyone has there go-to escapism.  Mine has fantastic beasts, mega-armour and a call to save the world.  It's results man.  When trying to level up a real life, gaming takes the edge off.

28, married, have a son, and own a home. Age has nothing to do with it. Plenty of us "older" gamers are successful and not socially awkward.

I know how that feels. My dad once complained that he's always bored and I told him to get a hobby. He responded with a smug tone, "and what do you do? Play games?Hmph"

I'm 23 in a couple weeks and played since SNES days. Developing games is on the horizon for me.

you can never be too old to play a handheld like 3ds. and there are a ton of games like resident evil revelations that is hardly for kids.

After this small "survey" no doubt 3DS is for all ages!

22. While I don't like the actual handheld, the game library is excellent and can easily be enjoyed by all ages.

Sounds like all the people I used to work with. I'm just going to go to work, then bed, then work, then bed, etc.

THIS. Also, if you're just playing it around the house on your down time, I don't see what the big deal would be anyway.

I'm 37and my wife is 30, we've had a DS since the very first one launched. It's a great console, with great games for everybody. My 14yo daughter loves hers and our 2yo boy just started playing NSMB2 and Sticker Star on the 3DS and is a huge fan of Mario now. I think the DS is for everyone since they have a range of games to choose from. You're never too old to play video games. I still play Pokemon to this day.
