Does anyone know if the 3DS will have a hard drive installed inside of it? Will it be able to play normal ds games? Around how much will it be? Will the graphics be much better than the ds lite? Thanks.

Wow people keep me amazed. How on earth can someone thinks a handheld, something you hold in hour hands will come with a hardive? The 3ds may end costing something from $199.99 to $249.99 and the graphics abilities will be X10 time better than the current DS. They will look like the GameCube or even a bit Better. It will be more like having a home console in your hands.soulreaper-4
Well to be fair, there are 1.8 inch HDDs in many portable items, up to 160GB
And also, I think he generally was referring to internal memory, which even flash memory the 3DS has very little (1.5GB rumored) because everything is planning to run off the SD card

To answer your questions, the 3DS will not have a hard drive, but it will have some internal flash memory and an SD card slot. It'll be able to play DS games. It will probably be $200-250 in the States (just my estimate). And the graphics are MUCH better than the DS Lite; there are screenshots all over GameSpot.

The 3DS' graphics capabilities are closer to Wii than Gamecube.

I'm not trolling, look up "Ghost of Sparta" and "Peace Walker" and compare it to even the "new" DOA game... the graphics look near equal or dare i say the PSP looks better.Checked it out. Response: Impressive. Up until now I've only seen Pit, DOA, Paper Mario, and Zelda: OoT. Looking at Pit and DoA, it seemed to be the "best" of the early screen shots so i figured that was the best the 3DS could offer (jumping to conclusion). However, i still wouldn't call that "Wii" quality especially if you look at game like SSB-Melee.Go find some screenshots of the upcoming Resident Evil for the 3DS.

It is pretty well known that in SOME ways the 3DS surpasses the Wii due to not only the 3D effect, but also special effects and such (that allow for visuals you cannot see on the Wii), but the resolution and overall power is going to produce visuals a bit under the Wii's quality (probably). I would say overall it seems prettier than the Wii (and this is just launch), but who knows. Mario Kart, Resident Evil, MGS and more show off the graphics pretty well. Also it just looks very vibrant and nice in motion (IMO).Go find some screenshots of the upcoming Resident Evil for the 3DS.

Dude I've owned a PSP since launch and I can say that nothing on it touches the Resi game on the 3DS. Most of the PSP games are jaggerific and often times have graphical glitches (artifacts, tearing etc). I'm not bashing the PSP but, from what I've seen, 3DS>PSP in terms of grapics and it's a pretty wide margin IMO.[QUOTE="NaveedLife"][QUOTE="LetsPlayer"] The current PSP3000 has better graphics then the screen shots I've seen for the 3DS...LetsPlayer

Sure, it has a bit more RAM, a slightly faster dual CPUs. But 3DS games aren't looking substantially better than PSP games
and RE: Revelations, you'd have to be a fool to think a game that is 20% done isn't using bullshots. Sure its running in-game. So what? They still have plenty to add to it, and more items on screen, more physics, etc and the graphics will downgrade.
Also, the PSP has a screen res @ 480x272 where as the 3DS essentially is 400x240

Well has it been playable? Like with a whole build? I doubt MGS3 stays looking that good, pretty good but not that good
Also, MGS3 has the advantage o having an 8GB card, where as UMDs were 1.8GBs max

There are also videos and live gameplay demos which are much harder to fake.

It is under a very controlled environment. Capcom presents a demo, and controls everything on screen, what happens, what doesn't happen.
If revelations looks so good why doesn't Mercs look as good?
Revelations has a long way to go, I just think we shouldn't use to peg 3DS capabilities until we see a finished retail game, for all we know Revelations won't make it out in 2011.
I've seen the live gameplay videos, and while it looks impressive, they have 20% of it done. 1/5 of it.
I am wondering what that game is going to look like when it has as much going on screen as Mercenaries. Or in all the other stages other than the ship.
I'm just saying, don't get your hopes up. I know it looks good now, but its got a long way to go.
Traditionally release versions of games look better than early alpha and beta versions for a number of reasons.dzimm
Totally. But also some action games have more than one enemy on screen at a time (especially RE games) unlike in gameplay/screens of Revelations
I'm just saying, we have one game at 20% running off the same engine and content that another game, that is 70% done, and they look starkly different (another thing is Revelations doesn't nearly have the draw distance that Mercs 3D has in some shots)
Could revelations look this good when it ships? Sure. I'm just going to aim low and not be disapointed.
But this is going back to old skool RE, so it wouldn't surprise me if it does look close to this good, being as very little usually happens on screen pre-RE4 in Resident Evil.
I wonder if they will have the door open in 3D?!?! Ooh!
Also, you really can't go by percentage complete since you don't have any idea exactly what it's referring to. dzimm
True.
But the point is, one is not nearly complete, one is almost complete.
Generally, I'd go by the one that is almost complete. I hope Revelations looks that good, but like I've been saying I'm not holding my breath.
However, I anticipate buying Mercs when it comes out, even if it looks shallow and like a quick port of old content, it looks like good fun.

That's why i said EVEN A BIT BETTER.300 is not pricey lol if you can buy a ps3 , you c an buy a 3ds, simple as that or how bout wii and psp 250 at launch this is not that much more expensive ,
if it was 400-600 then it would be pricey ,
which i expect psp2 to be 400-600 range ,
just because it is sony
Just a note on the graphics, many of the screenshots we see are first-gen game releases for the 3DS. As months, years, etc go by, games will look even better as developers know how to take advantage of the capabilities of the system. Second thing to note, there's also screenshots for games that are a long way from being released, meaning they'll look better and better as the development process continues and polishing happens. However, if you're not satisfied now, you likely won't be satisfied later with the visuals, since games will technically look better with time, but at the same time the graphics will become outdated (example: DS graphics are becoming outdated much faster than they were improved upon).
This is what I tell people. The best basis for comparison is launch PSP games v. pre-launch 3DS footage we've seen.Just a note on the graphics, many of the screenshots we see are first-gen game releases for the 3DS.
