If Nintendo advertised 3rd party games like The Conduit, MadWorld, or No More Heroes they wouldn't have fared terribly at stores. Nintendo fans listen to Nintendo simple as that. If HVS says this game is great... no one listens. Meanwhile...Nintendo says this game is great and it sells well. Am I right or not? You decide.

I think at one point Reggie mentions that the conduit was a great game, but i guess his opinion wasn't important the game still didn't sell that much

I wouldn't recommend Conduit to someone who doesn't have an Online Connection.

Its up to 3rd party publishers to advertise their games. They can't expect Nintendo's marketing division to do all the work for them. Besides, Nintendo is awful at marketing core games.

its not just nintendo but the whole gaming industry lately they stopped advertising games i remember back in late 80ies to mid 90ies companies tried a lot harder to advertise games from having ton of commercials to magazines and everything else i guess they thought they needed to try harder in japan they still do it but it seems like in america i may see only a handful a year and mostly they are just videos from the game with things like" voted as e3 best game of 2008" or" ign said this game is awesome" and nintendo tried to push the conduct even at the 09 e3 just 2 weeks before the game came out they devoted a while 10 minutes to it at least i think the game came out in 09

The Conduit was a 7/10 game at best and still managed 400,000 copies sold.

Madworld was a whopping 4 hours long and still managed 515,000 copies sold.

No More Heroes 1 had VERY little ads in Europe and none in America, and still shipped 500,000 copies.

None of those games make anyones best of all time list, and scrape the bottom hundred for their respective years of release. Games that are good enough to sell millions, will be enabled to sell millions. Publishers who believe in it the series will promote it.

People blame Nintendo for every little thing, but the fact of the matter is, the majority of 3rd party developers are terrible. Publishers are even worse. In this case, the biggest problem is the man in the mirror.

What do you want them to do? They show 3rd party games at press conferences like E3 and mention them in interviews.

Well, I would say that the conduit has the most mass market appealout of all of those, but it does not deserve to sell over a million.

"if nintendo did the publisher's work" it's not nintendo's fault.BrunoBRS

there we go. why on earth would Nintendo feel obligated to advertise the Conduit, or No More Hereos? theres nothing there for them to help with. Nintendo has smartly choosen a few games and in teh media treated the as first party. They are going to help out Epic Mickey and Goldeneye big time they have been and they will continue to. They have also helped the thrid parties by getting them over to NA in the first place.

Nintendo has no need to help the Conduit such normal not special games. But when something special does come along they help it out to become nuch more of a commerical success

I honestly don't think The Conduit was all that bad. Sure, it was simple as hell but I had enough fun playing it.

Aside from bringing those games up on an eventual E3 presentation - something that they have already done - I really don't see how Nintendo could help third-party developers advertise their software.

Its not up to them to assist anyone. Its up to publishers to put their best foot forward and make sure the audience knows its there, no one else.

When you take the time out to think, Nintendo has advertised almost every big game QUALITY game 3rd parties have given them.

MH3? Ad campaign. Samurai Warriors 3? Localization & Ad campaign. Dragon Quest 9? Ad campaign.

Unfortunately, the ride stops there because 3rd parties haven't given them a game WORTH promoting since.

The Conduit was advertised literally 3 months before released on TV during the UFC fights. It was advertised on youtube and even comic books. Comic books! That's about as much advertising as one could ask for. Selling fewer than 500,000 copies is more than what The Conduit is deserving of. It was not a good game that lived to its hyped and targeted to a very niche audience that likes their fps titles generic.

lol uh I think that's the majority of the audience. The more common FPS like a game is, the better it typically does sales wise. i.e. Call of Duty

Those are all published by Nintendo in some country outside of Japan. Dragon Quest 9 is published by Nintendo outside of Japan, MHTri Capcom came to Nintendo partnered with Capcom for the ad campaign, and Samurai Warriors 3 is published by Nintendo outside of Japan.

That is why Nintendo advertised them they have no obligation to do the job of a Publisher for 3rd Parties if they aren't actually publishing the game in some region.

On another system, they are extraordinarily niche compared to the wii audience.

Lets face it, the Wii sucks. It has the worst graphics than any of the consoles on the market. That's why third parties don't make games for the Wii that often. They want to make an exploding building as detailed as possible. There hasn't been a game out for the Wii I wanted in a few years. A couple years ago I played the demo for Overlord and I wanted it for the Xbox 360. For christmas, my parents got me the Wii version instead. When I played it I thought, this isn't like the demo at all, this sucks. It was then I realize they had to completley remake it on an engine suitable for the Wii.

MH3 is the Third Party fails???No its a huge success!!! Proof= * Shipped 1 million units on launch day. * Sold 520,000 copies in its first day. [7] * Sold 720,000 copies in its 2nd week. [8] o Sales significantly dropped off in the 2nd week, following the same sale trend of Monster Hunter Dos for the PS2 back in 2006. o Some Japanese retailers were forced to cut the price of MH3 by half in order to sell remaining copies. [9] * Sold 915,000 copies total by October 4, 2009. [10] * Ranked 3rd in Amazon Japan's top sellers of 2009. [11] * Ranked 8th in Famitsu's Top 2009 Sales at 968,033 copies sold. this post isnt very smart. It claims that those games sold terribly. And therefore got sequels. On the wii. Seriously, how smart is that asumption?Comon sense people, it hurts me to see such lack of it.Hell, even madworld is being considered for a sequel. GAMES ARENT ACTS OF FANBOY CHARITY ; THEY ARE BUSINESS:IF THE GAME GOT A SEQUEL*HINT*IT DID GOOD ENOUGH in sales. And Trust me, HVS is not in condition of doing any charity. JESUS is it so hard to grasp such basic concept?.Im tired of these guys who follow blindly the gamespot snide remarks on wii sales as they had anything to do with reality. And they blame nintendo for a problem that doesnt even exist ? BRILLIANCE. Not to mention, Nintendo went out our their way to secure DQ X for the wii and that is a big deal.

Third party software doesn't sell as well on the Wii because third party software tends to be of higher quality on the 360/PS3.

Conduit wasn't advertised? Boom Blox wasn't advertised? MadWorld wasn't advertised? No More Heroes didn't want it, it was completely devoid of the Wii's purpouse;and in fact we do have good 3rd Party games so it's nobodies fault. I'll just list Boom Blox Mad World No More Heroes Zack and Wiki Red Steel Conduit While this might seem small, this is just the list for console-only games. If you take 3rd party developers on other consoles... PS3: Ratchet and Clank Resistance God of War III Gran Turismo IV/ModNation Racers (you can't like both at the same time) Xbox 360: Gears of War 2. And that's being nice.

Of course, graphics are everything! If you have the money *cough*Microsoft*cough* just spend it all on graphics! Who needs fun? Yeah, the Wii has had NOTHING. Super Mario Galaxy, Super Smash Brothers Brawl, Twilight Princess, Red Steel 2, Little King's Story, No More Heroes, Conduit, Mad World, Animal Crossing, New Super Mario Bros. Wii, Metroid Prime 3, and that's just looking at my first shelf. What a waste of money.

The Wii is more about niche games when it comes to third party support, not blockbuster multiplats. I like it that way. Also, those niche games sell just as good as PS360 niche games do or even better.

No third party developer has made a game with a big budget and with a top tier team yet. The only one coming up is Epic Mickey - Which is made with 250+ staff, Warren Spector and Pixar also helping out the studio. A lot of those games also don't perform well commercially because of timing of release or they don't justify people spending $50 on that over a Nintendo game. No third party, to this day, has made a game as good as a Nintendo title on the platform (Monster Hunter Tri is close). Epic Mickey may be the first to be on par with other Nintendo titles, otherwise I see nothing in the future that will stack up.

I believe there are enough games out that prove otherwise to your statement.

2007

Zack and Wiki

Resident Evil 4

2008

Okami

De Blob

Bloom Blox

No More Heroes

Trauma second opinion

2009

House of the dead Overkill

Rune Factory

Little Kings Story

Maramusa the Demon Blade

2010

Trauma 3

Tatsunoko vs Capcom

No more Heroes 2

Monster Hunter Tri

Sin and Punishment 2

NBA Jam

The Conduit 2

Sega racing all stars

Sonic Colors

Goldeneye

There are plenty examples. I know I am jumping the gun a bit with games that are not out yet, but what I have seen of them, they may not be triple A, but they seem worth your time anyway.
