[QUOTE="Masterx1220"] [QUOTE="Sabin55"]It is being said that the I-Phone is going to offer competition for the DS with the games that can be d/l'ed for it. So I see Nintendo adding more options to the system to compete.Sabin55
your kidding right. nintendo doesn't even need this new DS to compete with the i phone. there on top of the handheld world right now
I know they are. As I posted before.. It is being Said, Apple may offer some serious compition to the handheld market They are in a place to take over the top spot. They have already sold millions of applications. As of now only around 26% or so are games, though they are expected to grow, as more gaming companies are going to be making games for the I Phone.
As an owner of both an iPhone and a DS can tell you with confidence that the iPhone is as much a threat to the DS as the N-Gage was a to the GBA. Apple is in no condition to take on Sony, let alone Nintendo.
Let's break it down:
-iPhone is $200 with a $60/month 3-year contract - DS is $120 with no contract.
-Apple expects to sell 10 million iPhones total by the end of 2008 - Nintendo has sold more than 77 million DS systems since launch.
-DS has big name franchises on it like Pokemon, Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, GTA, Mario and Zelda-The iPhone's biggest games are broken and gimped versions of Super Monkey Ball and Spore.
-The iPhone is a Phone that happens to play games thus most people won't get an iPhone for the games - Everyone who buys a DS is going to buy games for it.
iPhone's a great device but it's no threat to the DS or even PSP and anyone who thinks it is has been swept up by the iPhone hype or has been listening to a moron who's been. Some might say "what about the iPod Touch?" Read the above list again and this time without the contract and you pretty much have the same deal.
