My Wii broke again, third time it's been broken.

It's never overheated, last year it had a disk read error and then the fan bearing went and now just recently I'm getting disk read errors and it wont show an image on the screen. Ok so that's not good and Nintendo tells me such.

I say I'm going to send it in myself because I hate being without my Wii. While a 10 day turn around is good I'm impatient (minute steaks take about 45 seconds too long for my taste)

Now this is where the story gets interesting.....

I go to the post office and say I don't want the usual overnight and that 2 days is fine and I ask if ANYTHING IS DIFFERENT besides the time and they say no.

I check the status on the package and I see that it wasn't delivered! Oh that's right they tried to deliver it but failed and now it's in a post office in Washington. Wait it gets better, they're holding it for someone to pick it up (that someone would be Nintendo) or waiting to reschedule. Oh that's right people, they only try to deliver it ONCE! With overnight they try more then once but the one that takes two days? Better hope someone is home buddy!

So I get on the phone with the post office and they explain that it needs to be scheduled for delivery again and I say I'd like to do that and they say I can't. Only the recipient of the package can ask for it to be sent out again, not the sender. Ok great......I ask why this is and they say it's for my protection. I'm not sure where they think that protects me but they seem adamant about it and then they hang up on me. I KNOW! Me! Idol of millions and they give me a tall glass of Soda Hangupski!

I call Nintendo and one of their customer service reps answers and I say I have a BIG problem and he's like oh no. I explain my tale of woe with the Wii breaking for a third time and now the post office had it and they're going to hold it. (Did I mention the post office holds it for 15 days then ship it back to me? Awesome I know) So I tell him that I don't expect Nintendo to take the Wii car and go drive it to the post office but can they PLEASE call and order it again.

The rep says that normally for something this involved he'd have to schedule a callback but he puts me on hold and talks to his supervisor. The next thing I know he's in contact with the higher ups in Washington and he says another person will be calling me back in the hour.

I get a call 30 minutes later and it's not the person he was going to send me to but the person ABOVE her and I go over with her everything that happened with the Wii and then the post office problem. I say she is so wonderful and she seems like the kind of person that loves to call post offices so could she PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD call this post office and do all the rescheduling.

She says that she's only allowed to call certain places because Nintendo keeps a log of all her contacts. If she was to call the post office the case would fall off Nintendo's radar. She said she wasn't sure how she's going to get the problem solved but she was going to do it. She said she'd call me back later in the day.

I get a call back 15 mins later and she said she talked to her supervisor and used the supervisor's connections to more places that INCLUDED the post office and she called and sorted all this mess out and got a rescheduled delivery. She also went ahead and contacted the repair center and told them my package was coming and to be on the lookout. She also filled out the paperwork needed so the Wii would instantly go on the line the first day instead of being unpacked and logged one day and then fixed the next. I thanked her very much and instead of just wishing her a good day I told her to have a great decade.

I get an Email saying Nintendo is repairing my Wii and all is well.

So I was a little touchy that My Wii broke three times because three times is a lot (I've had my Wii since US launch) but after everything that Nintendo did for me I am a lifetime customer now (not that I wasn't already but you get the point). This is why Nintendo will always be the ultimate not only for a game company but for a company overall.

I mean I had the first rep, his supervisor, the person in Washington, her higher up, then that woman's supervisor all take part to help me. That's 5 people who Nintendo pay good money to just to help me out. They COULD have said that they're not responsible for the post office and let them know when I get it back so I can send it again but they went the extra mile and made sure I was taken care of.

Oh and if you're wondering why I titled this thread "Holy Freaking Monkey Winnebago" it's because I could have handed my Wii to this guy.....

And I would have had less problems.

Who else has had to send their Wii in to be repaired and was it a smooth process or did you have some bumps in the road?

I've had to send my Wii in twice, and both were times were as seamless and smooth as I could wish for.Heck, the only problem that delayed the process was the fact that I was too lazy to find a box the first time it broke.Luckily, the second time,I did have a box to send it in...>_>

It was all quick and effective. It only took about three weeks after sending it in to get it back, with little hassles whatsoever. And all for free.Pretty awesome.

I have had no problems with my Wii. That post office really screwed things up. I don't understand how it is for your protection that the recipient has to be the one to allow it to be sent back. And I have only had to send my 360 in and it was not this big of a head ache.

By the way, your posts are always so big -and, sometimes, well written- it might steer people away from actually reading them, which is a shame.

Maybe they should take their Wii car, and upon arriving to the post office, they would say "Wii would like to pick..." well, you know.

In my 13 years as a loyal Nintendo customer, I have never had a problem with the company. The same cannot be said for Sony and Microsoft.

Which reminds me, I need to renew my Nintendo Power subscription :)

I'm sending my Wii in for the first time, due to disc read errors, errors when I even put a disc in (that causes the system to crash), and a loud disc drive noise. I hope I don't run into as many problems as you Jason, and get the Wii back soon.

Did you ask if you could get compensation like you did the last time it broke?

Awesome, I'll be sure to ask about that if my Wii breaks a second time, since I don't have a CIassic Controller.

That was a great story. I am also not being sarcastic, which is rare. It is good to know that not all big companies are the evil corperate titans whose higher ups wish only to move from a $10,000,000 summer house to a $15,000,000 summer house. Nintendo is a company which not only makes great games, but is a company that you can trust. They make me feel warm inside. :)

Damn straight Clyde would have given you less problems. Every Which Way But Loose (with Clint Eastwood), great movie.

Nintendo has a sparkling reputation when it comes to customer service. I had the joy of talking to them once about my brother's broken DS hinge, and they put the repair on my Nintendo.com account and everything so i could track it. Plus, they're really nice to talk to.

Glad everything worked out for you.

Dude, that's sweet! Nintendo really is the best. No doubt about it.

I had to send my Wii in once because it overheated and began to show white and black specs all over the picture. I called Nintendo up and told them what was going wrong and they arranged a brand new Wii to be shipped to me, and all I had to do was place my overheated Wii in the box that the new Wii was delivered in to send it back. I didn't have to go one day without my Wii!!! I didn't have any VC games at the time so it all worked out just fine.

Wow lots of Wiis are getting broken but at least Nintendo has GREAT customer support. The 2 times mine has broken they gave a new one each time and when my Wi-Fi connecter didn't work they helped me out with that as well.

Hey jaysonguy where is the nintendo repair store located .?? thats if you know.santanablu3

In the US there's two places that fix your Wii, one is in Washington and one is in New York.

Also I think it was important to post this here for a few reasons

1. You see some many threads that have members worry about what happens if their Wii's break. Here's a worst case scenario and everything still came out great in the end.

2. It shows the kind of loyalty Nintendo gives it's customers. Once we bought our Wii's we became part of the Nintendo family and they make sure they take care of their own. Now granted their number one goal is to make money but they don't treat us like dirt to do it.

3. Lastly, I wanted to see what has happened to everyone else and what went wrong. We hear a lot of stories about people's Wii's breaking. It's nice to see that in most cases it's flawless and in every case there's excellent customer service.

I haven't had to send in my wii for repairs, but I had bought a Nintendo wifi usb connector and had problems getting it hooked up. I gave them an e-mail asking about it and they e-mailed me back within a day. Then they answered my next e-mail within a half hour! They had even solved the problem completely. I agree that Nintendo's customer service is excellent.

It must have been a pain to have to go through three systems just to continue playing, but I can agree 100% on the fact about Nintendo having the best customer service out of the three. I remember I was just calling to ask them about fusing two Nintendo Power magazine subscriptions I had, and after that was done, they added three extra months of the subscription to compensate for the three extra copies of the magazine I recieved when the two subscriptions were seperate. Talk about generous. :)

Glad that your console is working for you. ;)

Nintendo's level of service has always blown me away.

When I first got the Wii Zaper with Link's Crossbow I was so excited that I didn't realize there was clear tape on the cardboard sleeve containing the disc. Needless to say, I ripped the hell out of it. When I called Nintendo to order a new sleeve, I was informed that Nintendo doesn't actually make the sleeves that some Wii games come in (WiiSports) and that there was no way to replace it. The phone rep. was so concerned for me that he offered to print a cover to fit a regular Wii DVD case, at home, and send it to me. I denied his offer. But I was amazed at how far he was willing to go in order to help me out, even if it meant he had to do it on his own time. Amazing.

I have however, had a great chat with a woman who works for MS/Xbox customer service.

Me: "It just won't read anything, anymore."

MS: "I already told you to clean your game disc...Sir."

Me: "I understand that but, this game is new. I just opened it. It's my system that's the issue."

MS: "You got to wipe it from the middle...to the outside."

Me: "You mean the disc? I don't think the disc is my problem, my console is..

MS: "I already told you what to do, sir. CLICK."

Broken console, interrupted mid-sentence, and hung up on. I'll probably buy more from them real soon.

I wish Sony had such good customer service. It always sounds like you're talking to a freaking robot. Haven't had to call Nintendo, but that's really nothing to be sad about. Oh, and Microsoft doesn't have the best customer service, so I'm not surprised that lady hung up on you.

I had my Wii repaired once. It was a awsome process!

Im starting to notice how crappy the Wii is getting. Dude, i hear almost everyone talking about the wii getting sent in at least once.

Okay some crazy fanboy is going to go off on me and talk about 360, but I dont want to get into that. Im just going to say this, Microsoft has all these problems, but atleast they admit that your 360 WILL get the RROD sooner-or-later. (Mods im not doing anything wrong, i promise... *raises hands*)

Yeah but I love Wii's Customer Service!

When I sent in my 360, I got a "Code Red" or whatever were it goes to the front off the line, and I have to admit, Wii's repair was quicker than 360's :D...

My fantastic Nintendo of America customer support story:

So my Wii starts getting all grainy and staticy 1 month to the day after my warrenty has expired. I call up Nintendo support to see what they can do. Guy tells me that normally it would be $75 bucks as it is out of warrenty but he will see what he can do. After 2 minutes of hold he comes back and says his supervisor waived the fee, and oh by the way, I dont need to pay for shipping to them because they are emailing me a shipping label. WOOT!

I drop my Wii off at FedEx on 3/28, they receive it on 4/1 and ship me a brand new one out today and its going to be here tomorrow with a brand new 1 year warrenty. WOOT! Smash Bros here I come. Wow I hope I didnt just jinx myself.
