My Wii broke again, third time it's been broken.
It's never overheated, last year it had a disk read error and then the fan bearing went and now just recently I'm getting disk read errors and it wont show an image on the screen. Ok so that's not good and Nintendo tells me such.
I say I'm going to send it in myself because I hate being without my Wii. While a 10 day turn around is good I'm impatient (minute steaks take about 45 seconds too long for my taste)
Now this is where the story gets interesting.....
I go to the post office and say I don't want the usual overnight and that 2 days is fine and I ask if ANYTHING IS DIFFERENT besides the time and they say no.
I check the status on the package and I see that it wasn't delivered! Oh that's right they tried to deliver it but failed and now it's in a post office in Washington. Wait it gets better, they're holding it for someone to pick it up (that someone would be Nintendo) or waiting to reschedule. Oh that's right people, they only try to deliver it ONCE! With overnight they try more then once but the one that takes two days? Better hope someone is home buddy!
So I get on the phone with the post office and they explain that it needs to be scheduled for delivery again and I say I'd like to do that and they say I can't. Only the recipient of the package can ask for it to be sent out again, not the sender. Ok great......I ask why this is and they say it's for my protection. I'm not sure where they think that protects me but they seem adamant about it and then they hang up on me. I KNOW! Me! Idol of millions and they give me a tall glass of Soda Hangupski!
I call Nintendo and one of their customer service reps answers and I say I have a BIG problem and he's like oh no. I explain my tale of woe with the Wii breaking for a third time and now the post office had it and they're going to hold it. (Did I mention the post office holds it for 15 days then ship it back to me? Awesome I know) So I tell him that I don't expect Nintendo to take the Wii car and go drive it to the post office but can they PLEASE call and order it again.
The rep says that normally for something this involved he'd have to schedule a callback but he puts me on hold and talks to his supervisor. The next thing I know he's in contact with the higher ups in Washington and he says another person will be calling me back in the hour.
I get a call 30 minutes later and it's not the person he was going to send me to but the person ABOVE her and I go over with her everything that happened with the Wii and then the post office problem. I say she is so wonderful and she seems like the kind of person that loves to call post offices so could she PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD call this post office and do all the rescheduling.
She says that she's only allowed to call certain places because Nintendo keeps a log of all her contacts. If she was to call the post office the case would fall off Nintendo's radar. She said she wasn't sure how she's going to get the problem solved but she was going to do it. She said she'd call me back later in the day.
I get a call back 15 mins later and she said she talked to her supervisor and used the supervisor's connections to more places that INCLUDED the post office and she called and sorted all this mess out and got a rescheduled delivery. She also went ahead and contacted the repair center and told them my package was coming and to be on the lookout. She also filled out the paperwork needed so the Wii would instantly go on the line the first day instead of being unpacked and logged one day and then fixed the next. I thanked her very much and instead of just wishing her a good day I told her to have a great decade.
I get an Email saying Nintendo is repairing my Wii and all is well.
So I was a little touchy that My Wii broke three times because three times is a lot (I've had my Wii since US launch) but after everything that Nintendo did for me I am a lifetime customer now (not that I wasn't already but you get the point). This is why Nintendo will always be the ultimate not only for a game company but for a company overall.
I mean I had the first rep, his supervisor, the person in Washington, her higher up, then that woman's supervisor all take part to help me. That's 5 people who Nintendo pay good money to just to help me out. They COULD have said that they're not responsible for the post office and let them know when I get it back so I can send it again but they went the extra mile and made sure I was taken care of.
Oh and if you're wondering why I titled this thread "Holy Freaking Monkey Winnebago" it's because I could have handed my Wii to this guy.....
And I would have had less problems.
Who else has had to send their Wii in to be repaired and was it a smooth process or did you have some bumps in the road?
