[QUOTE="tim_aka_link"]They should of just made it a phone too...put up the price another $75. Then I'd buy it. Cartman121
Are you retarted? Make it a phone as well? I don't even know where to start with you, and the worst thing is that you think it would only add an additional $75...sigh :(
wow, calm down bud. it was only a suggestion.
This sounds very cool but I love my DS Lite and i'm in no rush to change it. I hope they don't replace the Lite, but from what people are saying it seems that the DSi won't result in the Lite being written off. Thankfully! I like the fact that the DSi will have larger screens, and the new features sound quite fun. They're thinning it out... should be ok, as long as it's not like playing games on a cracker. :P
Ughh, noooo!
Two words: Guitar Hero.
If it doesn't come with a GBA slot, how is anyone gunna play it?!!?!?!?
That's the real turn off for me...
The fact that some DS games need the GBA slot support to play.
BUT the rest of it seems cool...
Sadly, I probably won't be getting it. :(
Sorry Nintendo.
so wat now Nintendo you want me to take back my DS Lite and buy this. I might just do that i don't play guitar hero, my GBA games suck, and i wanted to get my DS in a new color anyway tired of white. Only one thing haunts me, wat about a web browser, will it have one, if not thats a deal breaker.Kristjands
Nintendo released that there will be a web browser that can be downloaded for free from the DS Shop. I think it is an updated version of the Opera DS Browser already available. I also think it can be downloaded upon release of the DSi but I am not sure about this.
Yes it will have a web browser. I'll buy one. My DSL's left shoulder button is somewhat broken. I have to press really hard to get it to work. Some GBA games need the Left and right shoulder buttons. Coupled with the fact that sometimes My DSL doesn't register my GBA games when I put them in means I'll just stick with My SP [[Not that I play GBA games hat much anyway]] Guitar hero sucked on the DS and I don't even play Diamond that much. So I'll buy it or have it imported. TwilightBrawler
Forget importing, downloadable software will be region locked (but normal DS games won't be).
I never knew how long the DS lite battery lasted until I read this sticky. I knew it was a long time but never realized it was like 19 hours. Thats impressive.
The Wii can play Gamecube games, and download N64, SNES and etc. games, giving access to titles from all of Nintendo's home consoles. With the removal of the GBA slot it seems logical for Nintendo to put GBA games on the Virtual Console, to give players access to all of Nintendo's handhelds, giving it retro capabilities nearly equalling the Wii's. These could feasibly allow Pokemon players to use their virtual console's Pokemon for Pal Park (though this is unlikely (but if you could import from GBC games, etc. Imagine an easy way to get Lugia and Ho-oh!)).
The DS-i will have region specifics on its software, but not on general DS games, but chances are, there'll be a fair few DS-i exclusive games (lEyetoy style games). But these could also take advantage of the DS-i's other features, such as it's music playback (a sort of DJ game), and its bigger screens (slightly more graphically capable games). Unluckily this means that there'll be no imports of zany Japanese camera games, which I'm not normally into, anyway). Apparently it's region specific to allow faster internet speeds.
What I want to see is apps, homebrew, and semi-games (My Life As A King, and other games not on Virtual Console, but on the Shop Channel) available on the download service.
Though I'll miss the volume slider, I have heard that all previous volume dials on Gameboys have not actually turned the sound up and down, instead just muffling it in some convoluted method, and I will feel reassured by the volume buttons (I don't know if any of this is true, I'm not an expert).
I guess the bottom line for most will be whether they have wi-fi or not. Without it they won't be able to user the faster speeds, the browser or the shop. Luckily, I do have wi-fi, so it's a definate purchase for me.
True, but they expect you to use Nintendo Points to buy the game AGAIN on put it on your DS (rember Pokemon Ranch and Battle Revoultion) or something like that. They didnt forget, but they made it harder for you to play some games without ACTUALLY PLAYING THEM!This all sounds really dumb to me. This is neither a new system or a redesign. If they are using the same games as a regular DS or DSLite, then what is the point of the second touch screen (Is there a second tocuh screen? Seriously, I'm not being sarcastic.)? How will you play games like Guitar Hero On Tour or how will the Pal Park in Pokemon work. Call me stupid, but I think Nintendo rushed the DSi so that they can take advantage of the holiday season. Sorry Nintendo, but I think I'll wait 'til the next handheld.
EDIT: Sorry. several websites had incorrect information. TheDSi will only have one touch screen.

It's more of a firmware update...*sigh. what a waste of money this is gonna be for me. i really don't need a camera and audio playback on my ds.
one of the few positives i see about this is possible software quality control. a lot of the crap shovelware that should not be published as market price ds games could find their way to the downloads instead of the flooding the shelves with their useless presence.
in any case.. i dunno. i'm neither thrilled nor disappointed.

It looks nice, and will probably sell really well with those who already have a DS phat or DS lite. It really is bad that they got rid of the GBA slot---and please don't tell me to just a GBA cause who wants to carry the DS and a GBA around. I wonder if they'll just sell the BIG GBA games as downloads and phase out making GBA games.feryl06The DS version of wiiware includes GBA
What are you on about? It's not going to have Gamecube graphics!?

And they haven't released any information on the DSi shop, apart from that all downloads will be split into four pricing schemes, the most expensive being full games. They haven't confirmed or denied GBA games on it (although it's likely). Try to put all your messages in one post, it just clogs up space.
1. The two touch screens idea is stupid, they'd have to make completely different games for the DS-i and DS lite.
2. Quite whining about the GBA slot, they'll probably sell GBA games on the virtual console, plus, if you have a DS (lite) you can just use that for GBA games...

im kinda torn. the ds lite was kinda meh for me (at the age of 13). i couldnt really find any games that would make me go back for more than a month. none of my friends play, and im thinking of selling it.
the biggest thing for me about this new ds is the updated media/camera. thats why im so interested (the web browser also helps). the only thing is, do i really want to pay $180 for something i didnt exactly love the first time? I think im going to take a step back and watch how it plays out.

dont reckon id get the dsi.. being wider takes away from its being thinner which defeats the purpose really. having a camera could be good but the outer one is only worth it if its 5mp or more, i mean most new phones that are coming out have a 5mp camera now. aesthetically i think its a downgrade from the lite lol but then again you cant really tell from a picture.. the bigger screens are definitely a plus, they prob have somethin to do with the decreased battery life tho :P and thats annoying. ive only had my lite for less than a year anyway so i think ill pass for now :)Anaconda_9
