Nintendo only gamers, is it seriously as bad as people make it to be?

Personally, I don't think it's bad, hear me out.

What can you do if you have no money or you're just simply not interested in the exclusives that comes out on other consoles? You're not going to buy them.

But what I kinda dislike, is how people love to force people to buy or do things.

Imo, I would recommend for everyone to just try every console that have the exclusives that interest you and try to not force people buying other console that they don't really care about. Wait...this is the internet, nobody is going to listen to me anyways....

Nice thread! I think I get what you are saying. For many people (like me) it would cost too much to own all of the main gaming machines, so it is ok that they go to the gaming machine that has the most kind of games they like. Other reasons matter too. Growing up I played many games on arcade cabinets, Atari, Nintendo, and PlayStation; and realized the main type of games that I like are 2D side-scrollers, 2D and 3D action-platformers, and racers. Of course I play other types of games to, but those are my favorites. I am drawn to Nintendo games like other people are drawn to Rockstar, Bethesda, and Ubisoft. When I gamed on PS and PS2, the action-platformers were the games I enjoyed the most. So I play a lot of retro arcade games, but the Nintendo games are the ones I enjoy the most. Serious calls for Nintendo to go out of business because they primarily cater to their core audience are obnoxious.

@Collie_Lover: Really well said! I love making conversations with you! Yeah I agree personally, I really like Nintendo and sometimes I want to have other console like Playstation for games like Jet Set Radio HD, Crash and many others but even then, I feel very satisfied when I buy a Nintendo console and honestly, if Nintendo console could have "gimmicks" and be as powerful as PS and Xbox with all the third party, I wouldn't need to have a Xbox or a Playstation even with some of their exclusives!

No, it isn't bad. Walk into any B&M store and the selection for the Wii U is dreadful. From now until the release of the new console not much is remaining for the Wii U. No, it isn't bad. Everything is peachy.

@Solaryellow: Ok...go to the Nintendo Store in NY and comeback to me. Unless, you talk about new games which is pretty normal considering Wii U is a failed and "meh" marketed console.

I have wondered at times what would happen to PS and Xbox sales if someone like Ubisoft or Activision decided to make their own consoles, and you would only be able to play their first party games on them? Are there any gamers that primarily just play Ubisoft or Activision games? And, do those two companies have a large enough loyal fan base that could sustain them comparable to Nintendo, where they would have mostly first party games and a sprinkling of 3rd party games?

@Collie_Lover: Personally I'm not sure but I do know that games like Rayman, COD and many other franchises of this company are huge and a lot of people wouldn't want to miss them so maybe it could work, hell, at first Nintendo was a third party company.

I have enough games between 3DS and Wii U. I do have a PC and Steam, but I honestly don't play much on it. There's plenty enough for me personally on the Nintendo systems.

Been there many times over. The flag ship store of Nintendo is a joke. Most people will never step forth in it.

Rest assured, I did not stutter. It's hardly what I'd classify as a "world" store. Perhaps I can just pull bags out of my rear end?

Maybe you need a scan of my receipt for F.E.: Radiant Dawn as well?

@nintendo4evar: I have never been to a Nintendo World store. That is something I really need to do someday. I would love to see a store full of official Nintendo accessories and apparel. Recently, I was looking for some more Nintendo T-shirts at Amazon; but that is not like seeing them in a brick and mortar store.

I was a Nintendo only guy for a while but finally got bored and went with Sony as I always end up doing.

But I had a WiiU and a 3DS ... with both I had a game to play. Otherwise the games aren't very long nor very hard so it is easy and doesn't last long ... The last straw for me was Splatoon. I've played the beta online and it was cool but it was all there is to it, once I got the game, it was the same as the beta ... no more ... Mario Kart was fun but way too easy etc.

@nintendo4evar: Doesn't look like it. I got every sony consol even the first version of the PSone with the controller without analog stick.

I just enjoy what they bring on the table more.

But I must say, when the N64 and Playstation came out I was already 13 and the 64 did have a very kiddy looks when it came out with very bright color so yeah.

@Coco_pierrot: Yeah but what I meant by Nintendo only gamers was that you only own Nintendo made system, so that means if you owned any console that isn't made by Nintendo, you're just a regular good ol' gamer that plays every game that interest him/her.

Wii U is my only console this generation. I have no problem with it. As odd as it sounds Nintendo has kept my hands full and the eshop has lots of little games to keep me busy. There's lots of games I don't have yet and by the time NX launches I'll most likely be missing games.

Odd is an understatement. Are there things to play? Sure. From my experience this is the FIRST Nintendo console where I didn't care enough to finish most of the games I've played. What that is attributed to is what has been available for the competition and how it just outperforms Nintendo offerings.

Turning on the Wii U once a week or so is quite sad and that's what it has become in my gaming rotation.

@bunchanumbers: So your Wii U is your go to console? So you don't even have a 3DS? Yeah I know what you mean, the Wii U has like the best library this gen even with the big amount of droughts it has.

@Solaryellow: That's a shame. I play mine almost every day and its enjoyed quite a bit. Thanks to its over 1200 games offered through BC I could play a different game every day for years and not play the same game twice. Heck all Wii U needs is a built in media player and it would pretty much be a ultimate entertainment device for me.

And @nintendo4evar yes its my go to console. I had a 2DS but I gave it to my niece after I got my fill of MK7 and ALBW. All I use for console gaming is my Wii U and have no issue with it.

If I was a big Nintendo fan, I don't think I'd have any problems only having a Wii U and/or 3DS. I think there'd be plenty to keep me occupied.

On another message board prior to the release of the Wii U, there was a discussion asking which console you would take into a fall out shelter if there was a nuclear war right then. The only caveat was no internet accessibility would be available. My choice was the Wii because, at the time, I had plenty of games downloaded from the Virtual Console and the console did not heavily rely on MP or being online like the competition so most of my games could be played alone and still be fun. The Wii U would also be looked upon in the same light if the eShop was supported with older games as heavily as the Wii. Of course it would be pleasant if Nintendo entered 2017 (or 2012) and understood multi-media is a strength for modern day consoles rather than running away from it like a child from a barking dog but that is expecting Nintendo to accurately gauge the wants of its customers.

@bunchanumbers: I don't know about you Numbers, and maybe it sounds CRAZY but the Wii U may be my favorite console of all time especially because of backward compatibility and VC games, hell I wouldn't even need a NES, N64, SNES, GBA but I need some titles like the Rareware ones on the 64.

I just recommend that every buy the consoles that have the games that interest them so you can an all gamer, Nintendo/Sony, Nintendo/Microsoft, Sony/Microsoft, PC/Microsoft, PC/Sony you get the idea.

Yup! Its why Wii U is such a standout console. If we live in a world without online gaming, Wii or Wii U would be a ultimate gaming device. Its still a wish of mine that Nintendo made a plug and play media player for Wii U. The real question is which would you prefer. There are some VC games you can't get on Wii U. But you also can't get certain Wii U VC games on Wii. So really, Wii still stands out to this day on its own just fine.

how is the Wii U anyways and no i didn't read through all the comments on here the page at this early hour is to long to do so. he he anyways when i read the topic of the thread the 1st thought i had was which is your favorite Nintendo system? i started out as a Nintendo Nut way back in (1988) and i kinda still am but in recent years it's turned toward Sony actually. i don't think that Nintendo is utter shit though cause i love my 3DS and it's a great system i think. i don't think they put out too easy games to be honest. but the thing is i think Nintendo does aim more towards kids more than Sony and Microsoft and while that's not a bad thing if it's done right it may also be hurting them. i don't have a wii U nor have i ever gotten the chance to actually play it.

i haven't played my wii in a few months but it's a decent system it's highly over-rated though. the thing that turns me off the company is their consoles i dunno how the new one is going to be just yet to be fair. but you have got to have controls in order to play a game. not a control like the wii and the wii U. there's nothing wrong in doing something different but it's not always good if you do. the thing with the DS that's a decent system but it's again one of the weaker ones the idea isn't bad though

but i hate playing link the way you have to play him on the DS. and yeah there are certain games you have to use the touch screen on the 3DS but not nearly as many games. it mainly went back to the standard control and that's why i love it. the 64 going back a bit i think is a pretty fine system that some of you brought up. the mistake they made though was to make to many shitty games for it. Certain games like Zelda and Mario looked great on it. but than there's Castlevania any of them from what i heard and they didn't know what the hell they were doing or Superman64. for me the gamecube fixed that cause that's my favorite Console by them. though it needed a better controller. the 64 was a system i had problems really finding any good games for it. the game cube had a better selection i think.

finishing my ramble off cause don't worry i'm not going to go through all of Nintendo';s systems lol. Sony and Microsoft have it right because they make games for kids sure but when i was a kid consoles or anything to do with gaming was aimed at kids. that's who bought them yes they had certain games that were for adults as well. than time went on and the ages bumped into teenagers and people in their 20's and now it's people in their 40's and 50's who played the 2600 and the 5200 and lord knows what else. sure there's plenty of games for kids but with the PS3 & 4. and the Xbox's it's really nice for them to also aim for adults as well. no matter if they are the young adults or the older.

@hyperp0ti0n:You're right but I personally wouldn't say that. Like for example, I was and still am not interested in genre like RPGs, MMORPGS, FPS, TPS (Third-Person shooters) RTS, Mobile games, some puzzle games and a multitude of other genres so why would I play games like Final Fantasy (Even though Cloud is GOD in Sm4sh), Fire Emblem, Candy Crush and others if I'm not interested in them? I personally that every should play console that they find worthwhile and don't give a crap about what people think, just don't be a fanboy about it.

Wii U library + Wii library + Wii U eshop games + Wii U Virtual Console games + Wiiware games + Wii Virtual Console games. This is the library of games you have access to with a Wii U alone and i'm not even counting handhelds.

Food for thought,i only had an SNES when i was a kid and i was very very happy and this is a MUCH larger selection of good games than i had access to back in the day,

So no it's nowhere near as bad as people make it out to be but it's the internet, people like to complain and be a victim and make everything into a bigger deal than it needs to be,some "gamers" on youtube know this and make a living from leading their "troop".

I would have said the same thing about the Vita btw and i say this as someone who likes variety and has a decent library of games for the Wii U,PS4,3DS and Vita this generation. (+PC)

I just want to thank Nintendo for forcing me to play the crap out of the games I own on the Wii U because they have failed to come out with anything new or entertaining. If that was your goal all along then congratulations.

It's not about being good or bad, I'd say. It's about which choice is right for you. If you really love Nintendo games, then you really must get a Nintendo console; whether or not you buy a second console is going to depend on your budget, available time to play games, and what games on other consoles interest you.

For me personally: I will always have Nintendo consoles as long as they make them. I think that missing out on Nintendo is like missing out on a major cornerstone of video games.

At the same time, I really love my PlayStation 4. It has a great library and some brilliant online features. And PSN is great value! :-)

I can afford to have both (and others as well), but I am limited by available time to play games - so as a result, I can't physically get through all the games I want to play. This is a limitation inherent in my choice that I have accepted.

So, I think that's what it is about; what choice works best for you individually. Don't worry at all about what other people say is right or wrong. :-)

Are you me? You pretty much summed up my exact same thought on it word for word. I would however prefer that Nintendo was able to collect some third party support so I wouldn't have to buy a second console just to get access to non-exclusive games..
