[QUOTE="Cyber-"]Its obvious their biggest market is here. They should make a development house here to bring in more games appealing to to different markets. This means JRPGs, FPS, and those sort of things.ag1052Retro only makes nintendo games and they are in Texas...
They've made three games, for a same franchise, in 6 years. What has the Nintendo japanese studios done since then? A lot more. It's so unbalanced it's unfair. Retro, Intelligent Systems, and maybe one or two I'm forgetting aren't enough, specially if they can only work on existing franchises.
Why? What's the point? I really don't think it matters where a game is made.jjr10
Are you for real? It's not about making the game in US territory, but having occidental teams, with occidental people, making games with different appeal from the japanese studios. BTW, European studios would be good too.

If Nintendo really wanted to make games to appeal to a western market, they wouldn't have to make them in the West. If that was the case, i would only play about 3 games a year, as not many are made in Australia.

I agree there needs to be teams in Europe as well.
In case anyone has not noticed there are serious genre gaps in Wii. There are some great dev teams out there that could easily be brought in.

Man, what are you trying to say? Who's saying a gamer has to buy games from a developer who shares his/her birthplace, wtf?
We're saying here it's a given fact american, japanese and european developers make different kind of games, even in the same genre, and we feel Nintendo should invest in occidental teams, because it would expand our choices, and attract a lot more people who aren't interested in the traditional IPs. Besides, it's clear Nintendo is having a hard time focusing most development in Japan. How many games weren't made or weren't better because there's not enough studios, specially in Occident? For example, Nintendo could have never made the job Retro did with Metroid.

American devs tend to make games that are more suited for the American market (particularly with FPS's), If Nintendo made more US teams, then there would be an increase in FPS's with a Nintendo amount of quality.

Well, it's not like it's the only thing we want on Wii...

No but its still variety. Nintendo should find a better dev team for the amazing idea that is Geist.
I just want a variety that simply cant be met by producing a plethora of games from one region. Besides that there are people who dont like the slightly uplifting nature of most traditional Nintendo games.

Exactly! My point being a company shouldn't have to be based in the country they want to make the game targeted towards. Retro studio's could have been based in Japan, but the Prime trilogy wouldn't have dramatically changed, as the big N wanted to make it popular in America.
Hopefully that makes sense.. if not just disregard all my posts.

You're saying it doesn't matter where a game is made. OK, nothing new. It wasn't really necessary to point it out since it was never about it. And anyway, an american dev team will most probably be based in USA, since the team lives there, they have their families there, it costs a lot to move to Japan, etc. But we sure are aware it's not because they are in USA that they'll make different games.

OK, it's just cause when I hear "we need more american devs for more FPS", it frightens me, it's what an average Halo fan would say.

Well we all know that different regions have different stykes and different focuses on certain genres that much is clear.

Of course, but jjr for some reason is acting like we're saying that by moving one of Nintendo teams to USA, they'll start making different games. Which has nothing to do with the topic.
An american development company will still need to check everything they do against what Shigeru Miyamoto thinks should be done. Unless they develop a brand new series... and if they are going to do that, why bother being associated directly with nintendo publishing anyhow?raahsnavjthats a dang good point

because Nintendo can fund them, something most other companies are not willing to put much money into and also Nintendo has their own devs to work with them.
