Sadly, I'd have to agree. This is something I'd hope this E3 would convince me otherwise about but come on, Wii Fit?? THAT'S real friggin innovative guys. Way to deliver a revolution. What a waste of time.

Yea Nintendo is kind of scary me right now. I guess its up to the 3rd partys to deliver for nintendo. Which doesint scare me that much since some hardcore 3rd party games look actually good.

It is a "press conference" its not a "fan conference". they aren't turning there backs on hardcore gamers, they are just expanding into new markets aswell, and that is a more important thing to tell the press about that its hardcore games

my theory is if nintendo just went for the hardcore gamers it would lose sales but not only that but lose 3rd party support. More 1st party games get sold than 3rd party but what if nintendo took a back seat for a moment and allowed 3rd party developers to make some amazing games, it could increase 3rd party support while nintendo brings their casual games and some for the hardcore gamers, but thats just my theory.

Before you start complaining, get your facts right. There was Galaxy footage (check it out on IGN or Gametrailers - it's E3 2007 Super Mario Galaxy trailer), there was Brawl footage (although only a few seconds - it's on smashbros.com now) and as for Wii Fit... well, everyone is exaggerating about that. They showed that for 15 minutes, no more. It wasn't half the conference, you can be sure of that.

Nintendo doesn't need to take a back seat for 3rd party developers to make a good game. If they make a good game and market it well, it will still sell.

While that may be true, what can you do when you speak with your wallet and then 10 million casuals speak with theirs?

The way I see it is that the companies will never be able to keep the casuals on board. Eventually they'll lose interest and they'll HAVE to return to the hardcore set.

Agreed, people are throwing a hissy fit over one fitness game out off five regular games. Makes me kind offembarrassed to call myself hardcore gamer.

*plugs ears* LALALALALALA I"M NOT LISTENING... nintendo whould never turn from thier true calling which is hardcore gaming... period... im not saying the the whold Wii Fit fiasco didnt shake my faith cuz lets face it nobody's gonna see that and say "wow thats hardcore'... but i've said it before and i'm faithful enuf to say it a thousand times more (gladly) nintendo is all about the customer and the definition of customer doesnt stop at hardcore... so since they decided to introduce a revolutionary system and all they figured they'd make some revolutionary games as well... and those games are made with the entire population in view of it... not just gamers per sey... they're trying to bring in other people and turn them to gamers so that they can in turn serve even more customers... so be patient... i doubt the greatest gaming company in history would let actual gamers down... and just for ambiance im going to paraphrase my entire post in all caps ahem... LALALALALALA... NINTENDO IS ALL ABOUT THE CUSTOMER... WII FIT LOOKS HORRIBLE... SEMPER FI NINTENDO... NINTENDO'S PLAN IS TO TURN NORMAL PEOPLE INTO GAMERS... (and once more) NINTENDO IS ALL ABOUT THE CUSTOMER... (again you say? heheheheh) NINTENDO = CUSTOMER...

Theres more money in chasing your girlfriend or Your Mom for that matter than 'traditional' gamers. They don't need us anymore so they aren'tmaking games for'hardcore' anymore. That doesn't mean to say that the games they are making are rubbish. There are loads of good ones that the 'hardcore' can enjoy but their focas isn't just on selling games aimed at us.

Doesn't anyone else realize how the Wii board can be used in other games besides Wii Fit??  That little board was amazing, this isn't something for just dance & fitness games, any FPS, fighting or sports games would benefit greatly from the Wii Board.

It isn't Nintendo that have changed its the gaming market, there just isn't enough money to be made from just catering to the hardcore gamer anymore Nintendo picked up on this and have now started a phenomenonwith both the DS and Wii. Nintendo would be lagging in third if they continued the way they did and probably would find themselves bust in the near future, Sony and Microsoft can get away with what they are doing because they generate revenue from other markets and making loses in the gaming market isn't hurting them like it would Nintendo.

Not its not it is just trying not to make the same mistakes it did last year. They havn't forgotten gamers they are just letting more people in and the newer people will probably shift to play more hardcore games.

Its amazing what the so called Hardcore gamer has become, nothing more than whiners and complainers who dont understand how the world works. Let me clear it up for you, the press conferences are where the general media mixes with the gaming media, if you want to get out the news to the "expanded audience" that is the place to do it. You wont find many from the general media on the showroom floors or at the small conference ala the one where Brawl was actually revealed last year. Remember Brawl didnt make the conference last year at all. So stop complaining and think, this new style of E3 of all places doesnt really afford the mecca of gaming news that we are used to. I believe that most companies will have thier own shows to show thier products.

Yeah, your right Nintendo turned its back on HC gamers...I mean they don't offer classic games for download and upload new ones each week...they didn't announce a new mario kart that has an online race and battle mode...they didn't say that medal of honor was 32 players....they didn't show us a new resident evil.....they also didn't give us release dates to two of the most anticipated games yet...oh yeah....they didn't demo two great games that are coming out soon....thats Nintendo for you...they do nothing for the hardcore gamer

Nintendo is still doing what it always has. 3rd party devs are the ones you should be mad at. They aren't really releasing anything. They need the 3rd party support. If they keep going as they are now they'll be another gc with good first party and poor 3rd party

Yes they will focus more on the "casual" gamer (judging from how long they spent with wii fit) but they did show the games we were exited for no? :|

What the heck is a hardcore gamer??? a guy who only play games of violence and gore or a guy that stick with the game and play it no matter what untill is finished??? I don't know how old are you people but I'm 28 and I can say that in my time of life I see the envolving of the video games, since only shoot asteroid or ate pills and chase ghost with the atari till shake your control to perform a spin attack... The way of the video games are changing and we have to go with it if really we call ourseve "hardcore gamers".

Ok, I know that nintendog sukcs... badly, and dont menttion the freaking wii fit!!! c'mon!!!!!!! but there is another games like big brain academy, elite beat agent, phoenix wright, trauma center (I know, thesse are ds games, but the thing is that I got my wii this monday) that make me see where the future of the video games goes...

The only thing that I complain is that nintendo always release accesories for they consoles, like the zapper for example... how can I make a spin attackin zelda or play dragonquest or wiisport boxing with that thing!!!??? reminds me the NES's light gun, or the carpet, or the glove, or the robot (that I never knew for what was the us) and dont menttion that cristal chronicles was a pain in the @#$%& without the GBA...

I disagree. Hardcore gamers know what's coming, and we'll lap up whatever first-party stuff comes our way. But the casual gamers need to be appealed to, hence so much emphasis on Wii Fit-it's luring in the casual crowd. Same with Mario Kart. They emphasized the Wiil (wheel) and how beginner's can use it. They're being very smart with their demographics.

Did you not hear what Iwata San said? Do you remember the first time you played a video game? How good it felt to become part of something that millions of people around the world are involved in? Nintendo is reaching out to people that will allow the market to continue growing at the rate it is. Don't be an Elitists. We weren't born Hardcore Gamers. We all had to pick up a controller at one point. The games for the "Hardcore" are still there. If gaming has tought us anything it's that Patience is a virtue and that what you don't see or hear about...will only surprise and excite you more when it hits.

Nintendo Press conference was dissapointing in the fact that most hardcore fans like myself felt that nintendo didnt showcase anything they would of liked. Nintendo has hardcore games they just choose to showcase casul crap like wiifit. I hope by the end of this week they will reveal more on there upcoming hardcore titles instead of there casual stuff.

I seriously don't care if they showed stuff this E3 that doesn't appeal to you. This doesn't mean that there wont come games that you'll love. Nintendo are releasing stuff all the time. To expect that they would reveal everything they had on E3 would be stupid.

"hardcore" gamers really just need to calm down about nintendo turning its back on the "hardcore" gamers. First of you have metroid that comes out next month, then Mario Galaxy which will be great, then SSBB on dec 3. Nintendo will continue to make games for the "hardcore" gamers and the casual gamer. Stop complaining about how they've turned there backs on you cause in reality they haven't, they are making good games that you should be getting excited about.

you know what im really glad you made this thread i have to say i watched all three press conferences and cocluded that nintendo's was the WORST yes they mad me happy with maro cart the graphics looked nice but they just talked about there sales toward non-gamers the wii has too much potential to be doing this crap stop worrying about the damn non -gamers and put your focus toward development on some good third party titles or your going to see nintendo fanboys decreasing and your going to see me selling my wii for a nice new ps3 or 360 whos companies are actually working toward bringing thier hardcore gamers actually what they want so come nintendo get your butt into gear. "my name is Reggie im about kicking ass taking names and about making games" what a load of crap.

OK, so you have noticed that the Brawl site is getting updates every weekday, Soulcalibur Legends is coming out, RE4 is out and rocks, and Umbrella Chronicles is coming out. Although I do agree that the E3 show was kind of boring. We Wii players will just have to buy games we wouldn't buy on any other console. Because the upcoming games, although not 'hardcore', are still very fun.
