The Wii is really fun and Sure Mario is overused but the Main Platforming series, the Rpgs, and the Kart series are still fun.
They also have some great games for it, it also complements the other systems very well since it is so different from the other consoles.
Also Mario is Nintendo's Mascot the reason they put Items from the Mario series into Animal Crossing and Mario was in a Portrait in Ocarina of Time. Is because without Mario Nintendo wouldn't be as big as they are now so it is their way of remembering where they started in videogames.
i just bought a 360 and have a wii. since i bought the 360 my wii has just been sitting gathering dust, the only reason i would recommend a wii is if you have a big family or have allot of parties. its for people who just wanna have fun in a group. heck i think you would have just as much fun with a gamecube.
Beyond being the family-friendly party system, the Wii is also home the the quirky (and soon, survival horror... yeah, I don't know how it happened either). That means you'll find plenty of unique experiences here, but being so strange and different, can often be obscure (like Deadly Creatures, a cool game where you play as a tarantula and a scorpion, a game so unknown, not even the voice talents of Billy Bob Thorton nor Dennis Hopper got it sales).
Me, I like weird stuff, and so I've had many hours of single-player enjoyment from my Wii. And as for the kid-friendly stuff, they actually make some of the best games (like the Boom Blox series). I suggest you look at one, no two, no THREE threads around here (we've sifted through all the crap already :D), take a look at the titles, and ask yourself "Would I play this?"
I think you should absolutely buy a Wii if you like fun games. I honestly don't know why you picked the X360 over it, considering that the PC and 360 libraries are nearly identical. High End Gaming PC + Wii=the best of two very different worlds of gaming.
Top 50 Wii games
Top 50 Wii announcements
If you take the time to inform yourself about these game (without just taking a quick look at the images and dismissing anything that you don't immediatly recognize) and cannot find at least a handful of games and announcements that spark your interest, then don't buy it.
Hey all, thanks for the advice, it does sound like a good choice, if i can find one cheap i'll consider it. As to the 360, that was a present anyway, i was originally going to nose around the wii, ps3 and 360 before buying one, but since i got given the 360 i ended up paying for a new graphics card. The main issue is the single playability- Most of my gaming time on a wii, if not all, would be single player, but i've heard that there are some really good singleplayer games like Twilight Princess (and i've always wanted to try out the zelda games) Also, are there any wii games for the teen/adult audience? i've heard about Dead Rising: Chop till you drop and will probs try it since i liked the originalArtic-Pbean
About the Zelda games: Twilight Princess is a very good game, but I should warn you that the older Zelda's will be almost impossible to get into if you play Twilight Princess before them (I learned this the hard way). In a technical stand-point TP is the most advanced in the series with simpler controls and a better camera (Among other thing's).
Also, I havent played any of the Dead Rising games but I heard that Chop Till' You Drop was very different from the original.

Zombies, huh? Well first, Dead Rising on the Wii was a dumbed-down port (something the console used to be plagued with) so if you already have it, don't blow another $40 on it. You may wanna check out Resident Evil 4, maybe the Resident Evil 1 remake, Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles, the next Resident Evil rail-shooter, House of the Dead 2&3, House of the Dead: Overkill, Dead Space: Extraction (the last 5 are all rail-shooters, which have become big on the Wii), Silent Hill: Shattered Memories, Cursed Mountain, or, uuh, whatever the other upcoming survival horror games are called. (The red games aren't out yet.)
If you want more than zombies, there's also No More Heroes (which you can now find bundled with Red Steel), Mad World (a bit short though), maybe The Conduit (at least rent it if you're curious about how Wii FPS controls feel), Deadly Creatures, Bully: Scholarship Edition, and... well, there's not a whole lot of non-undead mature games that I can list off the top of my head. Red Steel 2 looks promising though (and I'm sure there's more in those 3 lists I gave ya).
...
Damn, I'm bored.
Edit: And about the Zelda games, you can actually try the N64 games for $10 bucks each through the Wii Shop Channel.
Don't forget OVERKILL, mischief. With two handcannons, crosshairs turned off and 1:1 aiming calibration, it is the best Co-Op experience to be had on the wii, and sickish-hilariously retarded zombie slaying on top of that.
Lothenon
Look again (righ before Extraction on my list). :D
Can't blame ya though, words can easily get lost when the text is so tight together like it is on these forums. :(
But hey, details about a game are good, yay contributions!

It's the other way around for me. In fact, I'm about to sell my 360 to my friend. I've had my Wii longer than my 360, yet it's my 360 that's already gotten old.

sorry to bash on the wii, but you probably do not have xbox live. sure there are some dumb people on live, but it's fun playing against them and owning them. i have rely never been competitive on the wii. i am serious about the gamecube, if you do not own any Nintendo systems buy that. then if you love what nintendo is offering get the wii.[QUOTE="ACL0V3R"][QUOTE="MischiefmAker"]

You have never been competitive on the wii?is because you didnt want to, you maybe were afraid of realizing its actually a pretty complete system, or that you are too unskilled to try.Why would you suggest a cube when a wii can play all cube games?.first off the cube you can find on ebay for 20. if the guy has a small family i just don't think the wii would be the best choice. most of the wii's title are spin offs from the cube with motion. wow motion controller gets old after the first few strikes on wii bowling. i am probably fighting a losing battle, since this is on a wii forum.

Most likely, as most of us here didn't tire of it so easily.
And, not to start a war here, but saying the the Wii's library is just GC games with motion is like saying the 360's/PS3's library is just XBox/PS2 games with HD.
(As for the XBox Live thing... burn it, burn it I say! :D And yes, I've paid for it...)
good point the ps3 and 360 are hd/hdmi capable. *cough* unlike the wii *cough*
manocanada
Haha, I like the way you work. :D
Oh, and a high-end PC, which the TC has, is even prettier than those 2. :P
well you are in a losing battle because you suggest someone to buy a used machine without warranty. Besides, is crystal clear you havent played sports games-shooters on the wii.It doesnt really "wears off" as a novelty .it becomes mandatory, and impossible to go back to analog sticks. It simply feels better in many games only for wii. Gamecube has no online functions. If you dont have local friends OR Family, you can play online with millions of other players. Gamecube wont get new games. Wii gets more and more better looking ones with more features. You lack arguments, thats your problem.Wanna have a better chance of convincing someone of buying an old console?get solid arguments.Oh..and asuming he lacks family, friends, internet..There are plenty of good single player games .As well as all the cube ones. Try harder or face the reality, that you hate the system so much that you are willing to lie for it.Wii bowling, what a joke...first off the cube you can find on ebay for 20. if the guy has a small family i just don't think the wii would be the best choice. most of the wii's title are spin offs from the cube with motion. wow motion controller gets old after the first few strikes on wii bowling. i am probably fighting a losing battle, since this is on a wii forum.

Mario is overused especially on Wii. There is a point to saying that there are sequels on wii that are barely different than their cube counter parts. Animal Crossing and Mario Strikers as well as Sluggers are a few of them. A lot of the veteran/core games are available on PS2 like Resident Evil 4, Bully and Okami. Some of these titles features extra wii content, but is it really enough to spend double the price on the Wii version. What exactly do you mean by "games for 8 year olds." Are you looking to play First person shooters mostly because if that is the case, I would suggest not getting the Wii.
Games you should look into are
Warioware
Paper Mario
Zelda
Zack and Wiki
Metroid Prime 3
Fire Emblem
Mario Galaxy
Punch Out
De blob also might be a good single player game
I am also not a very local multiplayer person and do not have wireless internet, so I can't play online at all. Since you already have a PC and a 360, the shooters on Wii wouldn't really appeal to you I would think. The conduit is supposed to be cool online, but that games seems fun if you only have a wii.
by cutting out the multiplayer aspect, you are cutting out a lot. I don't know if the Wii would be worth it. Maybe you could borrow a wii from someone for just a little bit and see how you like it.
Ok, I'm one of those gamers who feels that graphics should come second to gameplay and enjoyment, and a good storyline. While it is nice to play a game that looks good, a really fun game takes priority. Hence the love of morrowind ;P So the question is, should i buy a wii? I already have a high-end PC and a 360, the latter i don't use as much as the PC. I've been avoiding nintendo for years, mainly because i hate the way they've franchised Mario. Even watching my cousin play Animal Crossing, i noticed constant mario references, which put me off nintendo because i think they're just trying to profit from an overused character, and have destroyed the mario games altogether. The question is, should i go back? I've heard Wii's can be really fun to play, but is it just a one minute wonder? Will i play it once or twice, then never go back to it? From what i've seen of it, from the adverts and from helping my friend's brother set his one up, it all seems to be for 8 year olds, or for families or large groups of friends. The problem lies here: I am not 8. My family consists of 2 people. And my house isn't really large enough to support one visitor, let alone 2 or 3. So is the wii for me? i'd just like a bit of advice as to wether the wii is actually good for more than the childish, the tennis, or the mario. Cheers, ArticArtic-Pbean
No. wii is the worst console since the cd-i
Games for the wii that are good:
Resident Evil 4
Madworld.
I would highly recommend you DON'T buy a Wii. Buying a Wii was the biggest mistake I made this generation. I have a huge library of Wii games but besides the first party games the others have been a pain just to finish. Since i bought a 360, a few weeks ago my Wii has only been used when friends come over to play SSBB. If all you want it for is party games then go ahead and get it.
This^^ The Wii is actually my favorite system so i say go for it because the exclusives are a lot of fun.The Wii is really fun and Sure Mario is overused but the Main Platforming series, the Rpgs, and the Kart series are still fun.

I'm not sure about all of those games, but as it stands right now, Bully is the same price on both the Wii ans PS2, Okami, I think is only 5$ more. Wasn't RE4 on GC as well? Then he'd just need to invest in a GC controller and memory card (probably not a bad idea anyway) and he could get a cheaper version that way. :D

yeah buy a rrod capable machine. Is what you deserve, nothing beats the red ring and its a very good feeling to buy one of the consoles with the higuest failure rates on gaming history ,just waiting for it to be sent to repairs .I mean if we are getting into that low level...Oh, and Artic_Pbean, if you're still checking this, I think the important stuff has been taken care of, so we're just gonna have a mini-flame war it seems. And? PC is always better in graphics and resolution. The 360 is a rip-off and a good PC doesn't break all the time. And no, Xbox Live is also a rip-off of PC gaming which it will always be free.
BTW, this thread will close soon.

i would hope pc gaming is better than 360. if your forking over a couple thousand for an incredible pc, it better be better than a 300-400$ 360. also i am sorry for even comparing the 360 to the wii, they are two completely different game systems. and for ever who started this forum my advice is if you have the money go for it.
