[QUOTE="everlong12"]I must ask the same thing.Pikmin was inspired by Miyamoto's hobby for gardening. All girls do outside of the kitchen is garden so it makes sense. If I may ask a side question. Why is Pikmin considered a "game for girls"?

Lets face it when Jaysonguy have something stuck in his head there is nothing that would make him reconsider or even open to a "maybe"... after all he for some reason always ignore some of the post. Maybe mine and some others were just the reason that may make him otherwise.

He doesn't get random things stuck in his head, it's more like just one thing. Check out his other threads and ask yourself what they all have in common when posted in the wii forums:

There's a common theme here if you can spot it.
i like how in one he says RE UC broke RE mold, when it doesn't there have been many RE on rails shooters[QUOTE="Darth_Nater307"][QUOTE="everlong12"]I must ask the same thing.Pikmin was inspired by Miyamoto's hobby for gardening. This person is correct.[QUOTE="Darth_Nater307"][QUOTE="everlong12"]I must ask the same thing.Pikmin was inspired by Miyamoto's hobby for gardening. All girls do outside of the kitchen is garden so it makes sense. Girls can't garden! Remember, they're barefoot and pregnant. And when they aren't, they're just too weak emotionally and physically to do anything but nurture little dollies. :PIf I may ask a side question. Why is Pikmin considered a "game for girls"?
nintendoman562
Like others have been saying, I see no evidence of Nintendo making some kind of dramatic shift in Pikmin to make it a "girl game." Goodmorning Japan discussing it has absolutely no relevance here and if it does I'm really not clear on that so if you could explain that a bit more that would be great.
And I've never played it, so what exactly makes Super Princess Peach a "girl game" other than the fact that it has a very gender stereotypical character in the leading role?

Yes, we strong, intelligent men can't leave girls alone with gardening tools. They might get hurt!

They could practice their nurturing instincts on the gardening tools, cuddling them singing softly to them. At least until Pikmin comes out. ^_^As far as I know, male gamers weren't turned off from the original, nor did they think of it as a girl game. In theory, the same should happen here, unless, as Jordan said, the game is heavily advertised toward women. Even then, I doubt that would sway many male gamers away from buying. Even if you're right, and Play on Wii Pikmin is a girl game, no one but you thinks of it that way. The main character is male, and the game doesn't appear "girly" at all. You just can't compare it to SPP in that way and expect sales to be similar.
[QUOTE="clicketyclick"]Jaysonguy refuted his argument that Pikmin is a game "for girls".Jaysonguy
Nintendo said it's for girls and obviously the journalists in Japan say it's for girls since they did a story on the game that only involved girls
So yeah, I have no idea where you think I'm saying anything against it
Pikmin is not a game just for girls.
Men can enjoy Pikmin as well.
I'm pretty sure "motherly instinct" doesn't send your children off on suicide missions. ;)[QUOTE="metroidfood"][QUOTE="Jaysonguy"]
Well Nintendo sees girls drawn to the title but they didn't give the reasons
The person on Good Morning Japan said it's because the game ties in with the "motherly instinct"
Jaysonguy
That's what I'm thinking too lol
I think he means more along the fact that you're supposed to keep as many safe as you can to accomplish all your objectives
If that's what makes it a girl game then pretty much every tactics/strategy game is a girl's game.Saying that Pikmin is for girls is like saying Pokemon is for girls. Except pokemon would make A LOT more sense. Let's see why shall we?
1. You stated that Pikmin appeals to girls more because of 'motherly instinct" towards the Pikmin. Well in Pokemon you RAISE and BREED Pokemon. You make them HAPPY you LOVE them. You HEAL them and NURSURE them when they are hurt. That sounds more motherly to me than Pikmin.
2. You said that games for girls are toned down, well just play five minutes of Pokemon and you will see my point.
3. Also, just because toys based on a certain series are bought a lot from girls doesn't mean the game is for girls. Im sure that 80% of the girls who bought those Pikmin toys have never played a Pikmin game. They probably just said: "Ahhhhhhhhhhh these little critters are sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo CUTE!"
Also I want to add im a huge Pokemon fan so yeah.... long live Pokemon!
Wow. I'm currently playing Pikmin 2 and I haven't found it girly at all, but I guess that girls look at it in a different way. I can guarantee you that the mayority of Pikmin players are male. What really worries me, though, is that they may consider toning down the game just to make it more likeable for girls, making Pikmin fans disappointed (which is pretty common with Nintendo). I just hope they leave the Pimin games as they are and make both genders happy.
Ofcourse! Pokemon is awsome!Just to point something out, play several hours of Pokemon and you'll realize quite a bit of strategic depth is required (hence why there's a huge field of competitive play for the game). For some reason, I feel I might have accidentally made a point.

Pikmin is a 'girls game'? I have the first one but never played it. Since I'm a 'girl' I guess I should just buy this one :|.
Pikmin has already proved its success but I don't understand why this will appeal so much to girls.

I think it's a game that can appeal just fine to women. But it doesn't appeal to women because of their gender.

Sarcastic or not, that is the worst reason to buy the remake.
You already own the game, why invest more money into an unknown quantity?
Sarcasm, people. Sarcasm.
Sarcasm -a sharply ironical taunt; sneering or cutting remark
Is everyone forgetting that the Pikmin are flowers?
Actually, Miyamoto takes his real life experiences and puts them into his games. He loves his garden and imagined what it would be like if the garden was alive. But Nintendo found that a lot of girls enjoyed the first game and put a heavier emphasis on flowers in the sequel (ie, more colors).
nintendoman562 didn't forget. He already mentioned it. I don't really know that has more colours. I mean, I haven't seen any screenshots from Pikmin 3. Have you?Is everyone forgetting that the Pikmin are flowers?

Pikmin 2 is a remake. So you're saying the one on GC was targeted at women? Because there were so many women with a GC of course...
what Ninty seems to have been saying is that they were surprised by the unusual amount of female gamers playing Pikmin, so they decided to bring it to Wii. It's not that they changed anything about the game or made the game originally for women.
