Nintendo's "Key Game" coming this E3?

After the reaction to last year's mostly lackluster show, Nintendo has been pushing us to keep our eyes on them this year. Denise Kaigler recently hinted something big would be at E3 in an interview, and now Nintendo has told Gamestop to reserve some shelf space for after E3.

Something big may be coming this E3, what do you think we'll see?

It's quite possible they are talking about Zelda: Spirit Tracks. The article doesn't specify whether they are talking about a Wii game or a DS game.

It's probably Spirit Tracks for the DS since the article did not specify if the shelf spaces needed was in the wii section or the DS section.

1. We already have a new Zelda coming our way, in fact we have two when you consider MM. I don't think that it would be fiscally wise for them to release two(or three) games from the same franchise in one year.

2. If they where going to release it by the end of 09, then why didn't they anounce it sooner like they did with all the other Zeldas? It simply makes no sense to announce something this big right before release, that's not what Nintendo does.

You don't count MM thats a remake on VC not a new game, Spirit tracks is a DS game Nintendo have different teams, the Zelda DS team are making Spirit Tracks the console team are develpoing the new Zelda.

Zelda and Pikmin are the only Nintendo games that are closest to completion, so its either one of them two, or something ****.

I agree. The "Key Game" coming out this year will most likely be Pikmin 3.

But, this doesn't mean we won't see a Zelda teaser in this year's E3. As good as Pikmin 3 is, it won't be enough to carry the show. I think they'll announce 2 big "hardcore" games in E3. One coming out this year. One coming out next year.

On topic, it's most likely a new Kingdom Hearts game since it's supposed to be a "Key" game. Got to take Nintendo literally when they announce games now.

I think/hope it'll be a new Zelda game, I hope it isn't Pikmin, it's not a key game, more of a niche game imo. I'd be happy with a Kid Icarus game as well.

ekalbtwin is right, besides thats only been in dev since late last year around 2008s E3, that game still needs another year to be made.

You're all right, an "other" option should have been there.

And I shouldn't have included Kid Icarus as a "new IP", if they brought it back it would be more like a refresh.

hopefully something completely unexpected.

a new3D adventure title in the vein of Mario Galaxy would be welcome.... something starring Luigi or Peach, perhaps?

however, i refuse to get my hopes up too high because I don't want to get in the middle of a fiasco similar to last year's GameSpot E3 fallout.

I can already see how this is going to end.

-A rumor about a big wii game at E3

-Everyone want's a new wii zelda so everyone starts speculating.

-People talk about wii zelda so much others start to think nintendo promised zelda at this years E3.

-E3 comes and wii____ is shown, but no zelda.

-Everyone gets mad at nintendo for breaking their promise and not showing zelda.

I think Nintendo WILL announce anew Zelda forWii, and I think it'll be coming out before the end of this year.

Radiohead announced their newest album, In Rainbows, just 10 DAYS before it came out--and that created a lot of hype.

Justthink if Nintendo did the same thing--"We'vegot anew Zelda for Wii coming, and it's coming out in three weeks. Have fun". Can you imagine how crazy everyone wouldget?! It'd be awsome! Plus, why would Nintendo be telling people to make shelf space NOW unlessthis un-announced game is coming out really soon?

Or, it's Wii Music 2. Who knows.

All of you are saying mario, zelda, and a few starfox, but I have a feeling it'll be something really unexpected.....like a new pokemon game or donkey kong game, or even a game & watch game.

Don't think so, actually. Either way, it doesn't matter. Personally, I would rather play the original game on the NES anyways. I was just joking around, although I wouldn't mind seeing a new Duck Hunt game created specifically for the Wii. Just putting that out there... ;)

Eh, Kid Icarus isn't a new IP.

And I expect them to reveal trailers of new Zelda and Pikmin games.

They're probably going to announce a new Zelda and Pikmin 3. And just think, if they're both targeted for a 2010 launch, then along with NMH2, 360 and PS3 won't stand a chance.

I remember last E3 people were saying the same thing:

-Oh it must be Kid Icarus!

-I bet they will release a new Zelda this year, it has to be zelda!

Seriously. You guys are setting yourselves up for dissapointment. Go into E3 with no expectations, and then you will be pleased.
