Awful voice acting. There is a reason why most Nintendo games go without voice acting, this game is one of them. Ugh, it was like they took random members of the studio and told them to read the lines off an index card. There was no expression and it was completely detatched from the events.GSU28

I don't suppose computers would put much expression into their words, and most of the time, you're talking with biological computers.

CONTRIVED! CONTRIVED! CONTRIVED! Good god. The puzzles were amusing, but they were so contrived I was laughing my ass off. It was like the pirates designed their fortress with Samus's infiltration in mind.GSU28

This is true, but it's true of pretty much every action-adventure game. Ledges are just high enough to reach, grappling hooks places just so, magnetic rails so thoughtfully installed, etc. And don't forget shooters: guns and ammo at such convenient locations and times... you pretty much have to accept that stuff.

What got me though were the magnetic tracks. It was fun to do, but why would they have these purposeless tracks on their walls and bending around in the air? Why would they build it? But in the end, if something is fun enough, I'm willing to suspend disbelief, and it was really fun.

As for backtracking... that was kind of annoying, but it's practically the definition of Metroid Prime. And using humour is just one type of game. Having no jokes in it is a completely valid alternate choice. But hey, you got a great laugh out of the ending, so why are you complaining? ;)

EDIT: URGH! Old bumped thread. Don't you hate it when that happens...

Metroid Prime 3 exceeded my expectations, no need for humour in my opinion.

If you played previous Metroid games then you know what your getting into.

I didn't like how you were kinda led to each upgrade. Like the game was pushing towards it instead of being more of an open game play where you are made to explore not follow the map instructions. Other then that you have to remember, you get to blow stuff up with missiles and everything...awesome!

Exactly!!! In fact, I think that GSU28 did not play MP1 and/or MP2 and, the atmosphere, plot and game mechanic that he found in MP3 was completely new for him. Or maybe just maybe, he played the previous games and never liked them, and now with the last MP chapter he finally express his frustration!!!

It is not as good as Metroid Prime but I liked the game alot but you are entitled to your own opinion. I did hate having to go from planet to planet at first it was okay but afterwards it got dull and Hypermode made some enemies and bosses a bit of a walkover.

I had some problems with the game, but I still thinks it's one of the better games on the Wii. I'd give it a 9.2 out of 10.

The problems with puzzles and events in the game are the things I found to be humorous. :P Who designs a structure with morphball tunnels anyway? I guess the pirates ran out out of funding.

It's a great game, but some of the little things you mention I also was a little disappointed with.

Ugh, I was so disappointed. It was not the controls, because those were fantastic. The boss battles were amazing and the combat could be pretty fun at times. The game was also incredibly atmospheric. However, my problems with this game are:

-Damn, this game takes itself WAY too seriously. There is not a touch of humor and it is all about saving the galaxy from a plot that is... well, that is my next point.

-Really derivative. Save the galaxy from a darkness which is incidentally caused by your unexplained alter-ego.

-Terrible dialogue. It was simply, "Do this. Good job, Samus. Now do this. Nice work, Samus. Do this," etc.

-Awful voice acting. There is a reason why most Nintendo games go without voice acting, this game is one of them. Ugh, it was like they took random members of the studio and told them to read the lines off an index card. There was no expression and it was completely detatched from the events.

-CONTRIVED! CONTRIVED! CONTRIVED! Good god. The puzzles were amusing, but they were so contrived I was laughing my ass off. It was like the pirates designed their fortress with Samus's infiltration in mind. The space pirate leaders must have sat down and said, "Let's design all of our strongholds with ventilation shafts which perfectly fit for Samus's morph ball. Let's also allow all of our hand-print locks work for Samus's hand even though our clawed hands are completely different from Samus's hand. Let's also design all of our lock mechnisms and security overrides to be activated and deactivated by Samus's morphball. And just to help her out, let's make elevators in all of the shafts for her. We can also give her zip-lines and canons for her morphball. Also, whenever our guardians (bosses) are damaged, let the hatch to their core open up for free shots from Samus." Ugh, that was a long rant. But I just couldn't get past the contrivances of this game's puzzles and events.

-Back tracking. Jesus Christ. What was with that?! You had to complete one small objective on planet B, after you fought through half the dungeon. Then fight back through the dungeon to your ship, go back to planet A to find a conveniently (see contrived rant) placed object which incidently allows you to open a door on planet B. Fight your way back through planet A so you may get on your ship and repeat planet B to open a door which was previously locked. God, I don't mind back tracking when it is implemented properly like in Legend of Zelda. But this was completely unnecessary. On the bright side, I now will never be disturbed by back tracking again, because it cannot be any worse than in MP3. Similar to when I saw Hostel II and I now will never be disturbed by any amount of blood and gore and horrific on-screen acts.

-Corny ending *Spoiler, kinda.*

.

.

.

As Samus flies past the federation ship, she does that silly thumbs up to the captain. Good god, that was like a cheesy 80s action movie ending. I laughed so hard I almost fell out of my chair.

I could probably think of a few other things, like being unable to blast certain objects with rockets, but your morph ball's concussive blast can destroy it. In closing, there are some good aspects to MP3 and I am impressed with how Nintendo built the whole game around the Wii's controlls. Unfortunatly, I wish they had applied this formula to a better game. /sigh

I still have Okami and Twilight Princess to play. Hopefully they will be much better than Metroid Prime 3: Corruption.

GSU28

seriously, is this your 1st metroid game? the game was great and it followed it's counterparts very well. metroid is all about back tracking and of course the ships were set up with samus in mind. how else could one play through a game if it wasn't put together for your main character to go through it's environments. that is like saying was hyrule made with link's abilities in mind. of course that's how you progress. i normally don't care about a persons opinion on a game, but your comments struck a nerve. great boss battles, great atmosphere and great controls, but blah blah blah... there was some bad voice acting. i'll give you that, but the rest of what you said is crap. my final thought is this. MP3 = great game. one of the best out on the wii. hell, it's a Halo killer IMO.

-Damn, this game takes itself WAY too seriously. There is not a touch of humor and it is all about saving the galaxy from a plot that is... well, that is my next point. Well........ did you play MP1 or MP2? They were pretty humorless too, it would have felt weird toall of a sudden make this one humorous....you know? Idk, saving the galaxy just doesnt leave room for a lot of funny moments? lol

-Really derivative. Save the galaxy from a darkness which is incidentally caused by your unexplained alter-ego. I agree, it is a derivative plot, but thats not what makes Metroid Prime what it is. Its all about the atmosphere, combat, etc...... the minimal story just gives the game a reason to keep going. And Dark Samus isnt unexplained...... see MP1/MP2.

-Terrible dialogue. It was simply, "Do this. Good job, Samus. Now do this. Nice work, Samus. Do this," etc. Hey, it was Ninty's first dialogued metroid, give it a break :P I thought they did a nice job, especially with the aurora units.

-Awful voice acting. There is a reason why most Nintendo games go without voice acting, this game is one of them. Ugh, it was like they took random members of the studio and told them to read the lines off an index card. There was no expression and it was completely detatched from the events.

Ugh, that was a long rant. But I just couldn't get past the contrivances of this game's puzzles and events. LOL, what were you expecting? For the game to be like, "oh. Samus can't infiltrate this place. Guess the game is over......" It kind of had to make the places accessible to Samus for there to be a game.

Similar to when I saw Hostel II and I now will never be disturbed by any amount of blood and gore and horrific on-screen acts. Yes... backtracking is one of the down points of MP. I can get past it easily, it doesnt bother me, but I can see how it would be a deal breaker for a lot of people.

-Corny ending *Spoiler, kinda.*

I dont know what happened, but it just wasnt as great as it could have been. Excellent control scheme though, I hope it sets the standard for other FPA/S on the Wii

I still have Okami and Twilight Princess to play. Hopefully they will be much better than Metroid Prime 3: Corruption. Okami and Twilight Princess are better imo :P

Myself I didn't mind the back tracking. in todays games it's either back tracking or being led down a path like a donkey with a carrot on a stick. I'll take back tracking anyday.

I liked the game, but I couldn't force myself to finish it. (and I was at the last boss).

It just seemed like it was missing something. I'm not sure if there wasn't enough backtracking, or if it was the fact that the game itself was just too damned easy. Not too mention that the addition of the PED suit and being able to completely annialate waves of enemies (which could've been sweetier imo), kinda ruined it for me.

The biggest thing that ticked me off was when you pulled and turned switches you controlled her left hand with your right arm. Nintendo needs to make a Nunchuck with a pointer for the next console.

Oh good, I'm not the only one who seems to feel this way then :D And not only all that, but the ending ticked me off no end:

.

(Spoilerz...)

.

.

.

.

.

It's like, you fly through a portal and there's a freaking WHOLE PLANET made of Phazon, and it's all one huge living creature! It's A monster the size of a planet!!! OMGTEHAWESOMEZZZ!!11!!1!!1!! How on earth are you meant to destroy something so overwhelmingly huge??? ... Why, you fly to the surface and kill a creature about the size of the average van, that's how. Let's never mind the fact that this planet has presumably managed to exist for aeons on its own in perfectly good health, and the aurora was only brought there about a month ago: no, the aurora unit is now 'symbiotically attached', and the planet's thousands of square kilometers just can't survive without it! Scaling it down a little, that's like me causing someone to explode in a cloud of guts and gore by poking a single body cell (Not to mention the fact that the planet doesn't actually explode, it just kind of... disappears in a puff of dust. There were about three million tonnes of rock and other miscelleny in there! Where the hell did it all go?!). What really annoyed me is that they could have actually done a believable battle between Samus and a planet-sized creature by making use of Samus's Ship Missiles. That would've been awesome (and would have given the ship missiles an actual purpose beyond blowing a couple of generators :-/).

I do believe you are talking about a video game here. Seriously. While we are on this crackhead argument, how does the Mushroom Kindom exist? How does a plumber get there? Where did Bowser come from? I've never seen his elders. How did he get children? You never see other Bowser-like creatures anywhere. If he hatched from an egg, where did it come from? Super Mario Bros. is so stupid. Yada yada yada. ******* give me a break. BTW, Metroid Prime 3 is awesome.

I get what you're saying, but I thought the game was a perfect 10. I agree with the voice acting complaint, but that's pretty much it. I mean really, it's a video game for pete's sake, of course it feels contrived. Maybe it's because I've been playing Metroid games my whole life. That's just kind of the way they are. I understand your complaints though, I really do.

Have you played other games from the Metroid series? Metroid games are mostly like that, so it appears that you just don't like Metroid.

Voice acting? We are lucky a Nintendo game (and a Metroid) has actual voice acting to begin with. I know most of the stuff you say may be true, but it is how Metroid it is. Though I agree Metroid Prime 3 was not the best in the series. I mean, the controls were amazing but putting that aside, Metroid Prime (1) was the best of all.

I do agree with you on much of this. However, the puzzles were the best parts of this game because they were so well contrived. I didn't enjoy the combat outside of the boss battles very much though. You just point and shoot like crazy at a bunch of enemies. Even if these are the best FPS controls ever made there were too many areas were you had to just blast a ton of foes. The atmosphere and art direction won it big points with me. Overall I give it about a 9.0/10. I just beat it yesterday with a finishing time of 16 hours with 79% so there isn't going to be too many things to go back for. (this is my first Metroid Prime)

It places like this in my Wii collection

Super Smash Bros. Brawl 9.8/10

Super Mario Galaxy 9.8/10

Mario Kart Wii 9.3/10

Metroid Prime 3 9.0/10

Zack and Wiki 8.6/10

etc.

I thought it was great! It really stuck to the roots of a metroid game. It was desolate and you felt alone in a world full of monsters. The only thig I didn't like about the game is that Sam's blaster really needs a "Fully Automatic" upgrade. It however was loads if fun, and the ending bosses were a pain in the ass.

You want to start a game in a room that you cant get out of because it was designed for someone else. They should have put some Zelda puzzles in there that you need the boomerrang for.
