Now that SMG2 is out, shouldn't the price of SMG go down?

I don't understand why Nintendo games never seem to go down in price, no matter how old they get.

Because people keep buying them; though now that Galaxy 2 is out, I expect sales will slow down dramatically and the price will drop.

I expect the sales to have a steady run because some people might have not played the 1st.

because nintendo's strategy is not "the sequel's out, let's cut the price", it's "it still sells, let's NOT cut the price"

If sales go down enough, the price will get cut.

SMG2 isn't out for another 2 weeks in MOST countries so NO SMG1 won't be going down in price anytime soon.....

It's not true that all don't drop. You can pick up NSMBWii for 35 dollars and Excitebots for 20 as well as others. They might be keeping it up in case potential Mario Galaxy 2 customers want to play the first one first.

Nope. Zelda Twilight, Punch-Out, Super Paper Mario, New Super Mario Wii, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Mario Kart Wii...still the same price. Sometimes they have a sale going on but Nintendo's first-party games will stay the same price. But they're worth it so you still get your money's worth.

Nintendo is really pushing SMG2 as the "let's teach people how to play a 3D platformer" game. If that succeeds at gaining the NSMB audience, which I doubt, then the first Galaxy might see a sales surge. My guess is that Nintendo is hoping for that, so I don't expect a price cut right away. We have to be getting close to a Player's Choice group of games, though....

It'd be cool if they would bundle them together for like 75 bucks or something.

the sims 2 still sells. mw1 still is popular. lots of games older than a year still sale well. nintendo could lower the price on their best selling games but they arent about creating an image of being loyal to their fans. sony has their greatest hits line, ms has premium hits, what does nintendo have? maybe im overlooking something.

I know why Nintendo doesn't cut the prices but it doesn't make much sense to have sequel and a original game cost the exact same price of each other.

^This^

SMG2 doesn't come out in some countrys as late as July!

So I wouldn't expect any price drops until at least Augest, or the holiday season.

Right, because first-party Nintendo games always drop dramatically in price...yes, that's why most of their first-party titles are still full price.

I was personally thinking 39.99 for the original.

If both are selling, why exactly doesn't it make sense?

Are you new to the world of Nintendo? This isn't new, Nintendo don't drop game prices like third partys do. Even if a game is not selling well is hard to see a price drop.
