Don't worry Gamespot will give Halo 3 a 10. Cause they are going to think its the best thing in the world.Seeing as how Bioshock only got a 9, this game is still probably amazing. I'm beginning to worry that halo 3 won't get AAA. I actually wouldn't care if it did or didn't but I can just imagine the cows now......

Still, why do the Gamspot guys even bother reviewing Wii games? An 8.5 for a game that almost every other reveiwer claims to be the best game on the Wii? But no, lets give an 9.1 to WarioWare, a game that I played for twenty minutes total and got bored out of my mind, and a 6.8 for Excite Truck, easily one of the most entertaining racing games I've played in a long time. Not that their opinion means anything to me, they're by far the least reliable I know of at this point.
Sadly, I actually guessed the score a couple of days ago.
i have always been a huge fan of gamespots reviews because they were tougher than all of the other sites but for about the past two years it seems that they have become even more tough when it comes to reviewing games. i dont know the reasoning for this it might be because they have become jaded and are tired of playing games or it could be that the reviewers are being encouraged by the people who own gamespot to lower the scores just to create all of this extra contraversy. i mean look at all of the people sitting on their computer every time a new game comes out waiting just for GS review to see how low its gunna be. the more people who check the site teh more money they make from advertisers. if this is true they are going to lose a lot of credibilty eventually.its sad because just a few years ago mp3 would have most likely gotten in the 9's and i know that it doesnt matter what the game scores as long as its good but its nice to see if a game is going to be worth my money before i throw down 50 bucks and would also suck if i missed out on something that i might have really liked because i listend to the gs review and they said it sucked.itsdatkidWurd mah homebrotha...
I might be switiching over to IGN soon, I don't think GS deserves my time on here for giving terrible reviews on wii and excellent ones on ohter consoles.Sants412
Stay here for the forums, Sants. You know you love us. :D
(not my work, got it from SW :P)
I don't care that it flopped. All I want is justification.
[QUOTE="chris3116"]I don't care on reviews on GameSpot anymore since theygave Tony Hawk Pro Skater 3 on PS2 a 10. At that time, I lost my respect on the reviews on this site. I'm here for the forum since it's more appealing here than on IGN. No more Connecticut Huskies? :(
Hmm....this seems a little contradictory, eh?I was questioning that aswell

[QUOTE="MoldOnHold"]Here's what I don't understand (thanks Skylock for clearing up my last question):Again, I'm not sure of the exact reasonings, but I think this might be clarified more through playing the game in depth moreso than anything else. I think part of the issue comes from it being a next gen iteration that doesn't make as much of an advancement of the overall game as it could have given it is suppose to be on more powerful hardware, I guess...but I'm not sure.
In the Bad, it states: " Doesn't do much different than the previous two Metroid Prime games."
Now a few things. Being that is part of a trilogy, shouldn't things stay mainly the same? Being the finale of a saga, doing too many new things would make the game feel distant in the series. Furthermore, I thought GS liked the design of the other MP games. "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" right?

Regardless of whether games are all part of a series or not, as stated in their philosophy, GameSpot does take originality into account to a certain degree, in the belief that subsequent games should provide players with a markedly different experience than the one they've already had.
I think thearguments some are making about Halo 3 are pointless at this time as that game hasn't yet been released and we don't know if it will provide a significantly different experience than its predecessors or what score it will receive, but those arguing that GS is sure to love it may want to be reminded of Jeff's appearance on Attack of the Show in which he seemed, perhaps, a bit underwhelmed about how much like Halo 2 the Halo 3 multiplayer experience felt.
To some degree it's good to see so much passionate response to this review. My hope is that some people will channel that passion into playing the game, formulating their own opinions, and then perhaps writing and posting their own reviews here on the site.

It won't be the same if you go, Stay!

CAN'T. . .
LOOK. . .
AWAY. . .
You guys should know by know not to trust GS's reviews of Non-Microsoft-halo-Multiplayer games...And Even there you can't trust it because of overrating and Bias.
If you guys want to get a more accurate score just get the average of ALL the major game reviewers and you can consider that its real score. The over rated and under rated scores balance out and you get a realistic impression of the games score.
Gamerankings.com does that All ready for you and as of Now it has an average of 93.2 % which is good enough for me :P
If this becomes another Shenmue, with the GS collapsing under pressure and moving the score up an increment, (which, when considering the review system at present, is quite a leap), I will laugh. If this brings back all the people who are threatening an IGN exodus, I will collapse in laughter. If the people actually move over to IGN and act like spoiled children, flaming GameSpotlik madmen and then flaming them even harder for a points increase, claiming that it's all just a big plot, I'm going to lose faith in the intelligence of the average human being. Come to think of it, I should've done that a long time ago. Meh.

My hope is that some people will channel that passion into playing the game, formulating their own opinions, and then perhaps writing and posting their own reviews here on the site.carolynmichelleThat's kind of how I feel too. The main gripe I have with people having issues with a review is generally that they do so as if they know the game better than the reviewer...when they never had a chance to play the game in the first place.
[QUOTE="MoldOnHold"]Hmm....this seems a little contradictory, eh?ya i noticed that too. WHY DOES GAMESPOT MAKE GAMES LOOK BAD WITH EXCUSES!!?*sigh*

Gamespot is like nintendo: **** everyone! We do things our own way. They dont think the wii is cool? **** them, we'll show them.
Except gamespot fails, miserably. Gamespot: They dont like the new review system? **** the users! We make the site great, not them!
Hmm....this seems a little contradictory, eh?Well, here's what I can make out:

1. For the controls, Kev makes it clear that the aiming, shooting, and movement controls are indeed slick, and the game validates such controls for FPS's and such on the Wii. However, independent of those slick controls are occationally cumbersome contextual controls which don't really detract from the main controls, but are annoyance of their own. Furthermore, since the controls are so strong, and the enemies aren't strongly different from older games, most regular enemies are simply too easy to take on, I guess.
2. The game is a great sequel for finishing off the story well, as well as not doing anything to really destroy the nature of the game at its core. However, due to things like general enemy behavior, and not making a lot of advancements in stuff like graphics/design (I guess), the game still feels a lil derivative.
Again, I don't know if these are the actual reasonings, but are just points I derived from the review. Also...I really don't consider an 8.5 a flop, since it is still, at the end of the day, astrong recommendation of the game, unless you are thinking in System Wars terms, I guess.
If VanOrd thinks this game is like its predecessors then why the hell did Madden 08 for the Wii get an 8.0? It is almost exactly like Madden 07 with BAD Online multiplayer and more bug worse graphics I can go on and on. I know they are different genres but still how much can you possibly change a game like Metroid, besides a new story and new areas? The gameplay will feel the same as the previous twothats why the controls where suppose to change everything and make it feel fresh!mikhailk5Well, Kevin didn't review Madden, for one, and Madden 08 for the Wii was given a lower score than Madden 07 for the Wii got, so it was punished for not making any real notable advancements.
Everybody is losing their respect to gamespot staff because they are not fair! it would be more wise for them to stop covering nintendo stuff because they are just not into it at all!!! they should be a xbox site only !!!
yeah well Gamespot couldnt do a solid review if they had IGN holding their hands through the review, and all you MODs have your heads so far up Gamespot's bASS that you can't smell the bias that they laying down, you guys are on Gamespots Microsoft Loving- Wii Hating baseBALLS damn im no fan boy but even i can see that GS is a bunch of haters i havent been a big fan of the 1st 2 MP's but this one changed it for me and im gonna get it when i get paid friday this game is at least a 9 and after watching the review on IGN i know GS is on crack GS can shove their review where the sun dont shine, im gonna wait til i watch X-Play and see what they give it , i like them and IGN much better, but as pplz said b4 i like the forums and this is where most of my wii codes came from and im wayy to lazy to start on another website so yeah GS sucks on reviewing for the Wii TP was at least a 9, and same goes for MP3 i cant wait to see Mario or smash bros , cuz if mario cant pull out a 9 or even the collective efforts from all of nintendos top franchises i dont see any hope for the Wii on GS, so im sorry for the rant but all im trying to say is all you MODs can Go back to Kissing GS bASS while GS sucks up M$,, and if i get Modded for this who cares at least me and others got a voice and we know how to use free speach, and if i get modded GS can kick my Natural Canadian Black bASS for all i care, at least we all got a soul left we havent sold it to the GS
I could care less about reviews, but to say that GS takes originality into consideration is complete bull. Look at GTA, a terrible series to begin with but it never gets below a 9.5 andthere are never any changes made to that series.SepewrathHave you actually played all three GTA games? There are indeed notable changes and advancements between the games, both from a technical standpoint, as well as design points. But this topic really isn't about GTA.

I beg to differ. You're welcome to your opinion but you have to realize that many people, myself included, feel that the GTA games are some of the most innovative and exciting games of the past ten years, and that the sequels made considerable improvements on the original.
Let's try to keep this thread on-topic and pertaining to Metroid.
