Almost there, but I think you're all forgetting something that appears on the box art:

That's another -0.5, bringing it to 5.0: Mediocre!

There is something else on that box art that suggests an even lower score from Gamespot. Take a closer look at Disco Kid. He is on the bottom right just above King Hippo's left bicep.Don't see it yet? Look closer, he is SMILING :0!!!! This childishness cannot be tolerated in this age of gaming. If this was a post-apocalyptic wasteland like it should have been, there would be no smiling or color. Gamespot will deduct at least another 0.5 making the score 4.5/10

I know you're kidding, but De Blob's 8.0 flies in the face of that. And do we keep needing to remind everyone that Gamespot gave Super Mario Galaxy their game of the year award when it came out? If GS hates the Wii as much as people say they do, then a lot of their scores make no sense.

I know GS does not "hate" the Wii but there is no denying they place it at lower priority. I think we have had this conversation before and the fact that others are speaking out about it shows that SOMETHING is up. Its not just me with my tin foil hat and my conspiracy theories.

[QUOTE="evildevil97"]How can you honestly refer it to "an old game regurgitated exactly" when it has as many new modes of play as it does? Title Defense, Exhibition (with achievements), the "final surprise" ONM mentioned. None of those were in any of the previous games. (Except maybe Title Defense, which appeared in some form on the arcade titles)clicketyclick
Title Defense is described as playing the game over again. It's a "new mode" that stands in place for a harder difficulty setting. Exhibition is a "new mode" that stands in for Achievements or Trophies. It's just little challenges to do. Zack & Wiki even had this. But this doesn't provide much incentive to do them, and they're apparently very frustrating, so the jump in difficulty is quite noticeable. I'm not sure that's the best way to appeal to both crowds. Neither will feel like they've got their money's worth.
Wow, this thread is becoming more shocking by the post. I agree that the jump from 70% to 91% was a nice shock to the system, but is it possible that this "old game" that Nintendo "regurgitated" became more enjoyable and replayable as more things were unlocked? I don't think it would be the first time that has happened, and I don't think only Nintendo has managed to pull it off. As for everything else, it just sounds like a lot of sour grapes from where I stand, which is strange, because I usually see you as the "wait and play" type when it comes to this. Already dismissing the game's characters as stereotypesMadmangamer364
Lol, you think they aren't stereotypes? Bear Hugger is the Canadian lumberjack and you can literally knock the croissants out of Glass Joe, a terrible fighter who can't win a fight (who just so happens to be french.) I half expect a new character to appear in blackface doing a tap dance. It wasn't the jump in score, but that, when they thought it was only 1.30 long and the exact same game (aside from 1 new char), they were already ready to give it a very decent 70%. That's telling. Nintendo gets away with a lot.

I partially agree that this game failed to bring enough new to the table to put it in the place as a competing game amonst other new titles, but you make it sound like it has no worth and that they have not tried to bring new elements to the table. If the game was a complete clone there would still be a lot to love about this game. Maybe you do not understand the appeal but the gameplay and the whole package is so great. The nostalgia is enough for many. It so happens that some light improvements have been made and its probably Nintendo that stopped Next Level Games frm going all out on this game. As for racial stereotypes. Nintendo does not get away with anything. They can barely have M rated games on their systems without it getting in trouble with some busy body watch group or the whole internet claiming its sales are bad based off of 360 sales trends. Nintendo is the most watched gaming company of the three.

In case you have not noticed the only people being stereotyped are races that people have no problem being stereotyped. French, Canadian...Anyone see the trend?

Well of course they're stereotypes, that's the fun of it. Every nationality around the world gets the crap stereotyped out of it. Of course Bear Hugger is the fat Canadian lumberjack - speaking as a Canadian, I wouldn't have it any other way.

[QUOTE="Pikminmaniac"]

[QUOTE="LordQuorthon"] Nah. More like 6.5 because of the lack of Mii integration, no online co-op, no zombies, no downloadable content and having too many colors.funsohng

Also it is difficult. We all know Gamespot hates a challenge

and i dont think this game has chainsaws, blood, or guns. calling 5.5

i call a 6.5 since they wont actually PLAY the game, they'll just wait around for a few weeks, then once the wii board goes up in flames they'll toss this our way

I'm interested in seeing how different the opponents will be in TDM. I know it's gonna hard if Glass Joe is tough in that mode.

That can easily be said about the PS3, 360 and PC at the same time.

GS has underscored as many if not more games on those consoles separately as they have on the Wii.

This isn't really the place to discuss this but GS are in not way attaking the Wii games with lower reviews or ignoring the Wii anymore than they do with the other systems.

They are not attaking them, they just have placed its game at lower priority and its very clear.

Gamespot has reviewed more Wii games in the past month than any other console. The Wii is in no way being neglected. Wii fans just like to say it whenever a Wii game scores low or a certain game takes a while to be reviewed or isn't reviewed at all.

What major games have they not reviewed? If anything they aren't neglecting the Wii, there's just less quality software on the console that needs to be looked at. And two years ago they gave Super Mario Galaxy Game of the Year, did they hate the Wii back then too?

Did I claim they hate the Wii? I said they neglect it. Rune Factory: Frontier has still not been reviewed. I said they were neglecting reviews not neglecting SMG, one of the most popular games this gen. SMG getting a GOTY does not detract from constantly late reviews for the system.

Challenges the NES game did not have. So, it still cannot be honestly referred to as being "regurgitated exactly".

Well, if you want to be robotically literal about it, how about "an old game regurgitated ALMOST exactly". There, does that satisfy you?
Most Nintendo games are also timeless so that might have something to do with itPikminmaniac

You usually dislike (or hate) something you continuously neglect, which is what you've accused Gamespot of doing.

They haven't reviewed certain games on other systems as well. Not reviewing one game and being late with others (Pokemon Platinum took like a month, oh noes the DS iz neglected) doesn't prove Gamespot neglects the Wii, so right now you have a theory. Much like how someone might have a theory about IGN. ;)

First of all whenever we have are little debates lets keep em in that thread its confusing for bystanders. Second of all, what I am saying is totally different. I have proof. When games are constantly reviewed much later than should be that is neglect. Its not like I am trying to inerpret their review and try and use that as a basis for showing their neglect. Also mentioning Pokemon Platinum only furthers my point that they neglect games.

Neglect games, not Wii games. Platinum isn't a Wii game. Games on all systems are usually reviewed late. The only games that are sure to have immediate reviews are high profile games, and even then it's a toss up. Unless you can provide numbers supporting the fact they intentionally review Wii games late, or not at all, all you have is a theory.

I never said all of IGN is bad. You're just so quick to defend IGN, any hint at something negative comes off as meaning I'm totally against the site and wish it'd be taken off the internets. It's like that way with The Conduit. Someone says something negative and they're grouped in with all the haters. Nobody is allowed to think anything is negative without being indifferent, it seems.

Wii and DS games run the same line. They are both neglected. Yes I know all games were reviewed late and then it was just Wii and DS games.

First of all the bashing of The Conduit is a two sided coin. There are people who are blindly bashing it and people who are blindly loving it. Anyone who says otherwise is probably on one of those sides of the coin. Did you know that if someone posts one thing another person can respond to it. No its not any hint of negative views against IGN its the constant untrue baseless crap that gets brought up here all the time. I do not care what your opinion of the site it, its the reasons why people hate IGN that I am bringing up. I can attack those reasons all day because they are false. Unless you want to tell me that opposing untrue views is bad there is nothing wrong with me defending IGN. I have plenty of complaints about IGN like when Bozon compared LKS and The Conduit. And I do not agree with a bunch of reviews. I am only mentioning things that are not true or lack proof.

Except if I did think IGN and HVS's relationship affected the review, you'd have no proof otherwise. You can't prove it's untrue. Which is why no matter how much we go over this, no progress will be made.

Enough already about IGN and GS. Let's not hijack any more threads onto that subject, hmm?
