As said above, sometime in March.

And will it cost anything? I'm not sure.

Why in the world would anyone want to browse the Internet from a console using a controller to point at each letter to type. It would take forever just to type a short sentence. Not to mention, it is near impossible to read the text on any given website unless you zoom in all the way, and then you can only view a small portion of a webpage at a time. I'll stick to my computer, thank you.

Convenience... If somebody's computer wasn't on and was in a room somewhere else in the house, it would be faster (if somebody knew what they wanted to look for) to simply boot up the Wii and quickly check a website. That's basically what it's for.

Yeah don't just say it's useless just cause you don't think its helpful. Most people who say stuff like this don't have their Wii connected to their internet and are mad cause they can't use it.

i thought the exact same thing and said so in my GS blog, but someone pointed out to me that many households only have 1 or 2 internet-enabled computers and many more people (i.e. kids) who want to be on at the same time. so while the Wii Opera browser isn't ideal for everyday web browsing, in a pinch it would satisfy their thirst for the internet :p plus, there are lots of cool flash games you can play on websites with the wii-mote, like the original duck hunt!

If you actually read what I posted, then you should more than know I have my Wii contected to the Internet and have experimented with the browser. How else would I know how it works? Are you actually going to tell me that you prefer pointing at each individual letter with remote opposed to typing on a keyboard?

The wii-arcade websites let users with interesting ideas create small flash-games we can fool around with. Perhaps we will see some motion sensing idea-demo's in the near future.
It also enables You to use Your Wii as a radio for who's interested and serves as the "Portal to Porn".

In other words, not much use if You have a pc next to Your wii, but who knows?

I use it occasionally. Of course, it's not nearly as useful as a computer... but I can check my email while laying in bed... or sometimes I'll shut down my computer, go in my room, and remember that I needed to check the balance on my bank account or something. Instead of getting up, going in the other room, starting up my computer... I pick up the remote, get on the Wii browser, check out what I need to check, and I never had to ever get up.

Just because you don't have any use for it doesn't mean nobody else does.

Okay, so you admit then, uising the Wii to surf the Internet is only viable in extreme situations. That pretty much proves my point. Thanks.

I am writing this from my Wii and I find that pretty darn convienient. Sure it takes me longer to type but not so long that it turns me away from this browser. (Took me like...30 seconds)

I'll use it as a makeshift internet browser for the time being. My computer mouse is messed up, and I need a new one. So I'll just use the Wii's, until I replace the computer mouse.

I saw March 30th either on Gamespot or IGN.  It was mentioned in an release dates article.  Anyone hear if they're going to make a keyboard?  I use the brower to read articles and what not and for that it's perfectly fine.

No... I just showed you it does have a use. I use the browser quite a bit. It's a great way to watch YouTube movies of old TV shows or sites that show episodes of TV shows. If I bring it into the kitchen, I can go online and find a recipe to try. Or if I forget to check my email, I can use my Wii - which is already booted up - instead of waiting for ol' chug-along Win XP to start up. So believe me, the browser does have uses. You just have to be able to think when the situation to use it arises.

y do ppl keep saying this? you do NOT need to have the trial version DLed in order to get the full version free. as long as u get a Wii and DL the full version BEFORE the end of June, then u don't have to pay anything, whether u have the trial or not. if u go to DL the browser after June, then u will have to pay 500 points.

I use my Wii about 50% of the time if I just want to check forums, e-mail, ebaying, etc. I don't need to zoom in to read anything, I have perfectly good eye sight and typing doesn't take TOO long. Auto-wordcomplete is decent enough. If you're not writing a lot of long paragraphs about web browsers on spots for games, it's not too bad.

the person who thinks typing on the wii is hard is obviously using the crappy keyboard not the cell phone style texting typing. if u have anything of a fast click of ur finger, u can finish words as fast as a slow typer, whys that so godly awful?

My Wii is connected to my A/V Reciever in my living room, so I'll go to www.finetune.com to listen to music all day long (minimal typing involved).  It's the most convenient way for me to listen to some online music with great sound.  My desktop is in my basement and listening to music on a laptop sucks.

Also, the flash game sites offer some good variety to standard Wii and VC games...for free.

Sure, I'm not going to do any power surfing, MMORPG, shopping, chat rooms, or online programming with my Wii.  But that's not its intended use.  Many people have identified perfectly suitable uses for the Opera browser on the Wii.  Just because it doesn't suck all the electicity from the neighborhood for insane graphical or computing power, doesn't mean it's worthless or stupid.

I'm looking forward to the full release version of the browser.

Convenience... If somebody's computer wasn't on and was in a room somewhere else in the house, it would be faster (if somebody knew what they wanted to look for) to simply boot up the Wii and quickly check a website. That's basically what it's for.

Except it's not convenient, cuz it's so much harder to use.

i use my wii to watch peekvid all the time. if only i could get rid of that navigation bar it would be awesome. its not that hard. seriously it quicker and easier than using a regualr control pad. its a good browser

i hope nintendo makes some type of keyboad controller for convenience   or give us some kind of update that allows us to plug in our own
