Meteos is easy and great for puzzle noobs. The hardcore puzzlers will find Planet Puzzle League a much better experience.

what r u kidding me "Meteos is easy and for puzzle noobs"

Look at PPL, at how SLOW the gameplay is. It gives you like 30 sec to think of a move unlike in Meteos where you have to have good reaction time and fast thinking.

I personally prefer PPL over Meteos, but both are great.

As for the question, no, you can randomly play people in PPL. The thing is, it works a little different though. You can play people by birthdays (but if there's no one who has your same birthday playing, it will get a random person.) or Free Play battles, which don't count for your ranking. There's a "novice" battle too, when you begin, but it's useless after you've won a certain amount of battles.

If you have friends on your list, you can Voice Chat with them. During battles, and in the menu. Really great actually.

Objection!

Seriously, Meteos is a great game. However, PPL is definately not a slow game at all. If you want, I can show you some serious competition. ;) But Meteos is a pretty flexible speed of game. It all depends onthe planet.

The problem with Meteos though, is that the game can be very simple, perhaps too simple. Why? The game relies on lining up rows of threes, that creates a combo, and chaining them together isn't too difficult. It's easy to launch back and forth, a set of blocks, and the conundrum comes in, when it just gets to the point where, stacks go nowhere. It's a great game, but the speed takes a long time to pick up, and can drag on matchess.

With PPL, however, there's a big difference. The speed of the blocks continuously rise, as the game progresses, naturally. However, even if it's slow going, you have your opponents garbage blocks to worry about. The biggest factor to these, as opposed to Meteos' garbage dumping mechanic, is that you have to rid your foes blocks by touching them with at least three blocks. If they are combo blocks, they all disappear and transform into easy to rid of blocks, but a master puzzler will demolish you under the weight of chains, if you don't have the speed and efficiency to battle them. Sure, a longer chain gives you more time to set up a move, but the game will speed up for you.

They are both different truly, but I'd say that IMO PPL has the most competitive battling aspect of puzzle games to date. The thing Meteos has is a more casual friendly experience, that really can't become more than that. Because the planets you choose greatly affect the gravity, and can make battlesmuch longer.

Both are great puzzle games indeed. I think though, you can't say PPL is slow going, until you've actually played it. If you do buy it, PM me, and I'll give you my FC if you're up to losing that is... :P
