I'm what you would consider to be a PC-Gamer,or a hermit if you wish, now i'm thinking of a Wii for my B-Day present, since there are quite a few games that i CAN'T get for PC,if i decide to get a Wii,i would like to try out games from THESE genres:

Fighting.
Action/Adventure (Anything similar to GTA but much more replay value?)
FPS if there are any.
Any Flight Sims or anything Military?
And maybe get back into platformers (Last good one i played was Spyro on the PS1)

Anything good from those genres aprt from the obvious like SMG,No More Heroes, etc :)

In case you're wondering why no PS3 or 360,i had a horrid experince with 360 (Once it RRoDed,returned it and never wanted it back) and PS3 doesn't really have anything appealing to me,just figured i'd look into a Wii.

The only reason why I would recommend the Wii to a PC gamer is to expand their horizons more, to try some different things. If I were you, I wouldn't get the Wii expecting any great first person shooters that can match the PC, and the online experience will probably seem archaic. If you want to get back into platforming though, Mario Galaxy is definately a great reason to buy a Wii.

Again, if you're open to trying different genres, go for it.

Wasn't really expecting any good FPS for Wii anyways,no big loss though, and i'm not much of a online person, though if the community is good enough,i might give it a shot, don't need any fancy features or anything like that.

I'd suggest these:

Metroid Prime 3
Resident Evil 4
Twilight Princess
Super Mario Galaxy

Even for a PC gamer, I think it's worth the buy.

I, myself, am an hardcore PC gamer and still am able to enjoy the Wii perfectly. You just need to be careful choosing the titles that really do deserve a try.
If you're looking to have a different experience and play a different 'formula', you should try Zack & Wiki or Endless Ocean, though this last one will hardly appeal any hardcore FPS player.
On the platforming scene, consider SMG (self-explanatory) and Super Paper Mario. Maybe even NiGHTS, if you start getting inside the genre.
Finally, MP3 should be an obvious choice. It mixes the FPS action with adventure and mystery.

i actually think the wii is a great complimentary system for the PC (also a big PC gamer fan here :D). theres very little cross over between games. the controller also feels nicer to use compared to a normal controller imho, its alot more accurate. in some ways the wii and PC are similar, in others they are complete opposites...which is nice imho.

if ure not interested in any of ninties own games though then it might not be worth ure while.

anywho:

for fighting there is brawl coming along. this is greatly anticipated and hopefully it delivers. i greatly enjoyed the last one on the GC so im also looking foreward to it. its not ure traditional fighter mind, u dont just knock health off someone.u need to knock them out of the arena. great fun though, especially in multiplayer. if that doesent interest u then soul caliber 2 might be of interest. this is a GC game mind so u will need a GC memory card and controller but its considered to be one of the great fighting games. there are also some ol school fighters like street fighter on the virtual console.

action adventure: well theres zelda of course, great game. no more heros is also suppose to be very good. if u want a reminder of the old broken sword days then zack and wiki might also be of interest. not big on the story front but the puzzles in it are crazy. great game. if u havent played it before then resident evil 4 wii edition is the best version of RE4 and a very good game. okami is also due soon wich is brilliant (i played it on a mates PS2 for a while). batallion wars wii might also be of interest. from what i hear, its an action game with a strategy element to it, a bit like hostile waters on PC.

FPSs: Metroid prime 3 is top priority here. it is more of an adventure game but theres alot of shooting in it, from a first person perspective. its not like halo or crysis though...its an adventure game with FPS elements. if u get a GC memory card and controller then i would also recommend MP1 and 2, both crackin games. medal of honor heros 2 is also supposed to be quite good. i would also recommend trying red steel (rent/borrow first of possible). its not the best game ever made and u may hate it to bits....but, although it had quite a few problems in it, i thought it was quite enjoyable overall. it had alot of good ideas, just the execution is quite a few places was lacking imho.

for flight sims: well theres nothing at the level of detail of flight sim or IL2 or anythign like that. but there are a couple of arcadey flight sims out for it. theres one from codemasters i quite liked, but i cant remember the name now :S.

platformers: well there is only one (that matters anyway), mario galaxy. theres also a few great on the VC like mario 3.

id also recommend trying out some of the more unique games like trauma center. very cool game that imho.

Wii's are probably the best system out there. What it lacks in graphics compared to the other consoles it gains in gameplay and pick-up-and-play. I don't care what other people say, the Wii is freaking awesome. Here are some game reccomendations:

No More Heroes is the best -and closest- GTA-like Wii game.

Highly recommend Super Mario Galaxy for a platformer, (own it, and I love it)

I don't see why not it's not like it's going to set you back a million dollars, and if you don't like it you can always go to ebay. But with all the great games already on the Wii I don't see why you'd be doing that anytime soon. Medal of Honour Heroes 2, Trauma Center: New Blood, Zack and Wiki, (controls=awesome), and there's always great Nintendo games like Super Mario Galaxy, Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, and Metriod Prime 3. Plus, there's always the VC, and if you never owned a Gamecube there's a whole library of great games to check out. But if none of that interests you stay away from Nintendo... far away.

I see much resemblance with the PC, PS3, and Xbox 360. Plug a wireless controller into your computer and basically you've got both. Since most titles are released on the PC and the others. The reason the Wii is different is because of the controller. That is why a Wii would go great with you. Play tennis by swinging rather than pressing buttons. Something you can't do on a PC. I would get it, not only is it cheaper but will give you something to do you can't on your PC.
