When i open my ds lite there is a loud clicking sound when it locks into place and another loud clicking sound if you move it back once more. I have another DS lite where it has a clicking sound but it is not nearly as loud. It also seems to me that the clicking sound is coming from the right hinge. Anyone else have this?

I believe a clicking is natural for the DS Lite when it locks into place. However, I’m not exactly sure what the standard is on the “loudness of the clicking.” I don’t think you should worry about it.

The clicking sound is louder than my three of my friends. It sounds a lot different, like its tighter.

The only thing I can think of is the Ds hinge is cracking...Is the lid as flexible as the other Ds's you have?If it feels like it's opening slower than usual, then the hinge is indeed cracking/has got a crack.

lol, I love threads like this. It is normal. All DS's have that sound to some extent. Some are louder than others. I took my first one back because of a dead pixal and it had a loud crack when I fully opened it and my girls wasn't as loud. Now the one I got in exchange for the dead pixal one doesn't make a sound at all.

Im sorry i sound worried. But i have been through 13 Nintendo DS Lite Onyx's in the past week all have had at least one dead pixel, one had a pink top screen, and on one the touch screen didnt work. Now I have two that actually have no dead pixels. The problem is, on one the top screen is very dim (you know the whole yellow bottom screen thing where the contrasts are different) and another ds that just has a loud freaking crack sound when I open it. Im just stressed about this.

13? That's a lot! Look, just keep trading in your DS Lites until you get a DS Lite with just 1 dead pixel and doesn't have a loud clicking sound. It won't bother you much if there is only 1 dead pixel and you can stop wasting valuable gaming time by giving it back to Nintendo so they can replace it or something.

I don't know, but it seems to be worrying you a lot so I guess you should just try to get rid of it by getting that DS Lite replaced with one that doesn't have a loud clicking noise and has 1 or less dead pixels.

CLICKING NOISE IS NOT BAD!!! :DArabSolja99

I know that having a clicking sound is not bad. I have one DS that clicks when it is almost full open and when it is full open, however it is a light click. The DS specicied has a loud click when I open it to the almost full open and full open and has like a "thud" sound when i close it from the full open position. You can also feel the click on the right hinge, but that seems to be the case for both, except one is louder and is more of a "thud" sound.

Do any of you believe that the loud clicking sound could lead to a broken hinge?

NO, if that was true then my DS would have a broken hinge. It's normal, don't worry about it.

lol are you kidding me. The one I returned only had 1 dead pixal and that thing drove me nuts.

To the TC. DO NOT settle for a DS that has even one dead pixel. You will hate yourself for doing it. It will bug the crap out of you because every time you play a game, you will notice this dead pixal and stare at it the whole time your playing. Getting madder by the second as you play kicking yourself in the arse for settling on a defective product. All the time knowing their are millions out there with DSs that work perfectly.

There should be some kind of click, but having not heard yours, if it is louder than your friends units it could just be because it's new, or maybe something is indeed wrong. I have to admit that I've never heard of a click coming from a particular location on the unit.

Then there must be something wrong with you if something so small is bothering you that you would kick yourself and get crazier each second.

I guess something is wrong with me then. I expect a perfect product when I buy it new. A dead pixel is not a perfect product. To each their own if your willing to spend that much on a handheld and settle for less than what you deserve. I choose not to. That is why I have a DS Lite that doesn't have a dead pixel. So if that means I have something wrong with me, then I am glade something is wrong with me.

When you buy a new product you should expect to get a perfect product out of the box. That goes for all things you buy. That said that's why companies make allowences on what is perfect, hence the one dead pixel is still a perfect product under there quality control. = I'm not picking a side on this one, I'll just say I would return it as well.

A loud sound when opening and shutting the DS is normal, don't worry about it. Beyond that you have a complete year for the hinge to break if that's what is going to happen. Worry about it then if it were to happen. For now I suggest you just enjoy your DS.

If it really bothers you that much I'd suggest selling your DS and getting into a collectable card game and some nice plastic sleeves. There's very little that can go wrong with them beyond losing one.
