Well, i'd love to be able to use this function so... could anyone answer my question?

So far I haven't seen anyone else with this problem, probably only a silly git like me could get into an awkward situation like this '^-^. Anyway,I was wondering, does anyone know if re-starting a router (mine's a Netgear DG834G) will mean losing anything important? At the moment I can't access the WEP key and that's the one thing stopping me from using Wi-Fi :| When I followed the help on the Netgear website (going to http://192.168.1.1/) the router seems to have had the default password/username changed... A friend installed the router for me but i'm sure they wouldn't have changed the username/password and not told me so... any ideas anyone?

Restarting your router wont lose anything important on you. As for you problem I have no idea what to do but I restart my router when my connection gets funny and it helps.

Reset the router.

It's a fairly simple process to set it back up.

I had the same crap happen to me but on a larger scale

Yeah agreeing with resetting the router works fine, but if you need to reset the password then I'd call that person that set up the router for you and ask if they did indeed reset it and if they did, you may need them to com over and undo that with their password.

I Strongly suggest buying the little Nintendo internet doohickey. It works very well and just plugs right into your computer.

After struggling forever with the wireless on my Wii, I realized it was the Wii that was acting up. It needed an internet update to function with my internet. I had to send it in to Nintendo b/c it wasn't connecting.

There isn't a way to lose anything on the internet just by restarting a router. The worst that will happen is you can't connect, and that would be due to a faulty install.
