Pokemon games: Do you catch a useless Pokemon to give it the crappy HM's?

I always catch a Pokemon I won't use for battle and give it all the crappy HM's like cut and rock smash... but I don't want to do it again when Heart Gold comes out because I want only my favorite Pokemon in my party! :) It sucks though cause the HM remover is in the last city of the game... So what do you guys do?

I used to spread out the useless HMs over my primary pokemon. But, as of now I just use the pokemon that I caught only for the Pokedex and give them the HMs. It's your choice, spread out the crappy HMs over your normal pokemon, or use worthless Pokemon as HM Mules.

Pretty much. Surf is one of the few HM's I'd use on one of my "main" Pokemon for battle, with Fly getting some use as well.

I remember catching a Bidoof and teaching it Cut, Surf, and Rock Smash. That Bidoof is out to get me now.

Yes, although I always teach one of my water pokemon surf or waterfall, and if I'm lacking a spare moveslot on my HM slave then I sometimes teach one of my main pokemon strength.

YO. crappy HM's?? i think you're confused. the power to cut through trees is not crappy at all. i can barely cut through paper. rock smash, on the other hand, is completely useless. ever heard of jumping over the rock?

but to answer your question, yes. i taught my bidoof how to fly.

Yep. That's the only thing a Bidoof is good for. I hate that Pokemon, so I make it do all my dirty work.

Of course. I would never waste a move slot on a useless HM move.

Yeah i do also think it's ridiculous.

Like everyone else, the only ones i do use for battles are both 'Fly' and 'Surf'.

They should do something to sort this out.

No. The only HMs in my team are surf and fly.

Of course. It is kind of annoying having to remove a strong Pokemon from your party to make room for a weak HM mule during a few sections of the game, but that is the best solution for all the weak, but useful HMs.

Who doesn't do that? There's always supposed to be 1 crappy normal pokemon in your party that knows 4 HM's who will never ever leave the pokeball unless they have to cut a tree or push a rock. That pokemon should also have a vulgar nickname...That's how the game works.

That's what a Bidoof is for, right?

Bibarel gets to stay in my party for this very reason.

No I didn't use a slave, I spread the HMs through my party because after finishing the game I won't be using them anymore because they aren't EV trained.
