[QUOTE="yoshi_64"]Unless you are hardcore into battling, the differences are minute and will not really be something you expect. However, through the years, the game's battle system has evolved a lot, and more so in the behind the numbers aspect. Moves are now split into phsyical and special attacks instead of being "special" and "physical" based on the attack type. EV training, Stats and how you work those two are different. Double battling was introduced in Ruby/Sapphire. Evolution of pokemon changed from just evolving via stones, new pokemon types to balance the game. Believe me, there's lots of changes that went througout the games, but you wouldn't know these if you only played casually. Kenny789

Now THIS is an answer I like :) What you said is true and like I said before, Pokemon has changed but only for the hardcore Pokemon players. For the casual players, it will seem as though the formula was copy pasted onto a new region with new faces. I used to be a hardcore Pokemon fan believe me, I poured LOADS of time in Red and Yellow and lots more into Gold and Silver :P But R/S/E just didn't strike me like the old Pokemon games did although I finished it anyway. D/P got me hooked again but after beating the Elite 4, I was left wondering "Hmm, I feel like I've done this before". I don't know if anyone gets me  but that's the problem I have with Pokemon now, it feels all same-y. Like what someone in this thread said, HeartGold and SoulSilver is only for the fans because there has been demand for it (Even I wanted it). But I'm worried about the future of Pokemon and how Nintendo and GameFreak will be able to keep Pokemon going on. It just doesn't seem like it will last.

It's not Nintendo's fault you're a casual Pokemon player and don't care about the new changes. The fact is that the series HAS changed, just because they don't appeal to you doesn't mean the series has gone downhill.

Pokemon is the most popular it's been since the Gameboy days, I cannot see how you can be worried about the future of Pokemon :? once again just because the new features don't appeal to you means the series won't last?

Sadly the game looks exactly like Diamond/Pearl/Platinum.

KurodaMurasaki

Considering that Platinum is an advanced form of Diamond and Pearl they all can't look the same.

Nintendo already has this current Pokemon engine. They made Diamond and Pearl with it and then they tweaked it and released Platinum.

Now they're going to tweak that engine one last time with Gold and Silver then they'll release a whole new engine for the newest Pokemon game whenever that releases.

I don't know why any of this would be a surprise to anyone at all

I'm sure everyone expected this from Nintendo.

I had Gold back in the day and I might get this new version. Are these only of the DSi or the Original DS?

Rumors say that it will be a DSi-enhanced card. (the first maybe) It'll be playable on both either way.

That would be cool, and fair.

Yeah I only have a DS and do not plan on getting a DSi anytime soon so I was hoping they did not release a DSi only version.

Knowing Nintendo they wouldn't. They'd be losing more moolah then gaining. Though I wouldn't mind. ;D

Here are the ONLYOFFICIAL pics of the game, revealed in this week's Pokemon Sunday.

Pokemon GSDS 1

Pokemon GSDS 2

Pokemon GSDS 3

So, now, some (amateur) analysis of these pictures-

1. The graphics look GREAT. Yeah, it's true that this is pretty much the D/P/Pt engine rehashed... but it seems to befit this game. For anybody who does not know, these are images from new Bark Town, the starting town region in the Johto region. The building immediately to the north of the protagonist in the first image is Professor Elm's lab. The building right beside it is our home. In picture 3, the buuilding to the south west is the building where the girl who talks about Pikachu being an evolved Pokemon lives. The building beside that is Professor Elm's house.

2. Obviously you may have seen, but Chikorita seems to be following the protagonist around. So is this going to be like Yellow, where we can have our starter follow us around. it's an interesting, but useless feature. And what if I don't want my Cyndaquil tagging alongside me? Or whta if I start running, how will my Pokemon keep up then? A lot of questions raised here, I see...

3.In all three images, notice that there's a person hidden partly from view by the mailbox besides Elm's Lab. All of us G/S/C veterans know that that is ???, possibly the greatest rival in the series. He looks exactly like I remember him :D. Speaking of him, do you guys think that his backstory will be elaborated upon in the remakes? Like, FR/LG hint that he's supposed to be Giovanni's son. Is that true? And why does he hate team Rocket so much? What ultimately becomes of him?

4. I notice one thing- they HAVEN'T shown us an image of the river in New Bark. Not that big a deal to many on first sight, probably, but you might have forgotten- that river was how we got into Kanto in the games. It's so far not been shown. Now, this might be an innocent co-incidence (I sure hope so), but it might imply... well, I really hope it's just co-incidence.

5. Finally, these images, rather than whetting my appetite, have ignited it even more... man, I can't wait for more info, and the game itself. First day Japanese import for me, even though I can't read Japanese for nuts (this will be the first time I shall do this, btw). New Bark Town does look a bit congested though...
