I haven't played pokemon in... well let's say the last one I played was gold version for the GBC. Is it worth starting again? I'm fifteen and I don't really like pokemon all that much, but it's all I hear about around Gamespot so..... lemme know.

Hmmm... well speaking as a pokemon veteran myself, I'd have to say that the newer versions are complete and utter crap. The way the franchise has been milked is despicable.
But of course to each his own, and you might actually like it!! Just know it has none of the magic that the epicly awsome GBC games had... and yes sue me just b/c nostalgia is a huge factor in this comment. But the older games really did have more substance. Enough so that Pokemon was pretty much the only GBC game in existence that was played constantly by all. The only other game that could compare was Warioland 3, but that's about it...
I agree with you 100%. GSC was the best generation and I can't wait for the inevitable remake to those games. In the meantime, give Diamond or Pearl a shot. They are far better then the confusingly bad 3rd generation games and are a no-brainer for Pokemon fans. Let's just say I'm older than you and I don't care what people think anymore. Give the new ones for DS a shot. Internet battles ftw!starfox15yeah. internet battles sound pretty cool. ad hoc wifi? or infrastructure? or both?

I feel the same way, and as you the last pokemon game I played was P. Gold, it was awesome, nothing to do with the new games... I didn't have as musch fun as I did with PG. My advice, don't fall in the trap we did.
The new one was actually pretty good after you looked past some of the dumb pokemon but I think nintendo would do well if they had just made one huge game with every area in the pokemon universe that would be amasing. Just like what gold and silver did to red and blue where they combined the two places make three or four places into one huge area and have that many more badges and pokemon leagues, even double how high your pokemon can level up (from 100 to 200) so that part does not get old. I think that would be amasing:D.
But really the new one is worth a try, nintendo tried to imitate the old red and blue by making you see every pokemon in the game you have (150) before you can get the pokemon from other games. Nintendo balanced the pokemon that you can catch in the game between all of the versions so you don't just see new guys.
You're never too old for Pokemon.
The structure of the game is "same old, same old," sure. But it's still addicting, and competitive battling is pretty intense.
Well, I started playing Pokemon games in the beginning (Blue and Red versions: 1998 ). I was engrossed in each game thereafter, up to Sapphire version. However, I stopped playing in late 2003, after succumbing to peer pressure, which forced me to reject Pokemon games as "kiddy peices of garbage."
However, in May of 2006, around my 15th birthday, I decided to whip out the old Blue version. I started playing the games "correctly," as in I would raise an entire team rather than just my starter Pokemon, and I enjoyed it even more than I used to! I started playing all of my Pokemon games after that, ranging from Pokemon Stadium to Pokemon Snap. I even motivated my brother (who is 10 years old now) to start playing, and he eventually spent more time with his games than I did!
Anyway, we eventually bought Pokemon Diamond and Pearl versions on launch day, and it did not disappoint. My brother still plays his, but I choose to spend more time with Pokemon games during the summer, as they are very time-consuming.
So, overall, I reccommend this series highly for all ages. Don't be ashamed to have fun with it!
exactly im 19 and i enjoyed playing pokemon pearl like it alot! who care how old you are as long as you enjoy the game go for itYou're never too old for Pokemon.

I was in the same boat as you. The last Pokemon games I played were Gold and Silver and I didn't much like Pokemon anymore. But I decided to pick up Pokemon Pearl when it came out. I was hooked. It was so much fun. So yeah, you're not too old to get back into Pokemon.
P.S. I was fourteen at the time and I'm fifteen now.
Veteran too pokemon is not what it use to be which is sad.I haven't played pokemon in... well let's say the last one I played was gold version for the GBC. Is it worth starting again? I'm 20 and I still play pokemon, so 15 is nothing ;)
I think the new versions of Pokemon are great just to see everything new! The new pokemon, the new challenges, new abilities, updated graphics etc. They also have Fire Red and Leaf Green which are newer versions of Green and Red (but not Blue) for the GB but for the GBA. I'm thinking of picking up one of those, myself, to get back to the time when I knew the name of all 150 Pokemon. . . there are too many to keep track of now :P
What I'm waiting for is an RPG version somewhat like XD, but with an adventure like any handheld Pokemon game where you aren't limited to only catching Shadow Pokemon. . . I don't know if they'll ever come out with one, but I've been waiting for it since Pokemon Yellow and it's bound to happen some time, right? Right?? *prays to the Nintendo Gods*

Silver was the first game I played and I loved every minute of it. I still like every other one but none have been the same. Still I would play them because it is a great series.
