ok so i've breeded my primary team so i can create new improved versions of the originals and so i bought 10 of each vitamin and 3 different bracers (atk. sp. def. and def) for my totodile who has now evolved into feraligatr. now, i noticed my totodiles attack was definitely higher than the last one i had but this ones nature helps attack grow and speed grows more slowly. but i want someone to look at my feraligatr lvl 33s stats and see if you think i've made a difference and if you think he'll be stronger than my lvl 81 one when he catchs up. here are the stats feraligatr lvl 33 (power band - atk) attack 105 defense 82 sp. atk 69 sp def 69 speed 61 feraligatr lvl 81 (was not aware of EV training at the time so its just normally trained) atk 196 def 167 sp. atk 189 sp def 176 speed 145 so, does anyone think im doing a decent job at least on the lvl 33 one? or no also if his attack evs are maxed out can i finally take off this band cause im tired of my speed being halved in battle

Haven't done this in a while so someone correct me if I'm wrong. First I don 't think its possible for someone to just tell you its better. Second, you should've kept track of all your EV battles hitting 252 or 255 I believe depending on you. No one can tell you if you have reached max out because A: You EV Maxed so those Vitamins won't work or B: You can only use "X" amount of vitamins before it won't work (there lies the problem, you don't know if its A or B.) The only thing you can check is to see if you lower level pokemon is stronger than you high lvl one by doing a lvl 100 or lvl 50 battle match and look at the stats manually to compare which is better.

Yea its really confusing at first--battling "X" Pokemon getting "X" EV's. Don't battle "X" pokemon becasue it gives you wrong EV points. What to do if that happens, OMG what items promotes growth, whats Pokerus, and whatnot. Let's not forget IV's as well easily being confused with EV's. Don't sweat it though, after your first one things should fall into place. Not sure if you know these sites but use it for references: bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net and serebii.net

If you bought 10 of each vitamin and used them all, you did it wrong. Not to mention the EV max is 510, so you can't use 10 of each vitamin. If you did use 10 of all vitamins save one (51 vitamins used total) then your EV training won't do squat as you already maxed the EVs with a frankly, very bad spread (100/100/100/100/100/10 is bad on everything no matter what stat the 10 is in). Also you should've gone for a better nature before EV training IMO. Brave doesn't fit Feraligatr which relies on its speed to knock others out before it gets knocked out. Jolly or Adamant is much better. I also have no way of telling how your feraligatr is compared to the last one. You give us far too little information. As I said before, if you use all the vitamins you could then its spread is bad, but no worse than a random one by battling random pokemon in-game.

Find a guide. Read it. It's like one or two pages (not that bad). It's better than arbitrarily asking questions. You may have more questions now! This is a great guide here: http://www.serebii.net/games/evs.shtml (been updated for B/W, but still applies to HG/SS and previous games. Only real difference is that now you're killing "x" for EVs instead of "y".)

thanks for the info guys but im new to this so yeah i dont know what i'm doing exactly first time trying. and yeah feraligatr is pretty slow but i EV trained his defence too so he's also my tank cause he takes hits with little damage even super effective. and he has agility which i usually use first. adamant would be better but i didnt feel like breeding a thousand totodiles i just went with the 1st one i got honestly. but i used 10 evs on attack and speed. and like maybe 6 on defense and another few on sp. def to be accurate on the vitamins.

If you don't wanna breed for IVs at least try and breed for natures. Here's a useful picture I found. It's explains breeding and some stuff about EVs in an amusing and easy-to-understand way.

That pic Adam posted was great help with breeding info. Much better than stuff on other websites. IV's are more important than natures and the difference between a 0 and 31 IV can be more than 10% in EACH stat.

Lv. 50 can be somewhat accurate, but nowhere near as accurate as Lv. 100, yes. In regards to the Feraligatr, what nature is it? It seems to be coming along alright.
