[QUOTE="Minishdriveby"][QUOTE="Sora278"]You would think so... people think Nintendo ran out of colours or that it is based on Norse mythology.

It could be all 3 things (biology, Norse mythology, and spacial axes). There are good arguments for all 3. The legendaries seem to be based off of Norse mythology and development biology, and the naming of the games could be a double entendre for sex Chromosomes and the 3D Cartesian coordinate system. This would hold especially true if the third game is named Z and has a snake legendary. well, a 3D space needs 3 axes, right now there are only 2, so "it means that if that other thing becomes true" doesn't quite work :P plus, DNA logos. while i doubt the game is being mysoginist, X and Y are the most "famous" duo of genetic code. i think the name's just hinting at DNA and genetics in general. i mean, it's not a first in the series (mewtwo, deoxys, etc).I agree completely, chromosomes were the first thing that popped into my mind. I'm just saying they have two routes they can go:
1. name the third X,Y,Z with a snake legendary, giving the naming a double entendre with sex chromosomes and the 3D coordinate system. I say snakes because not only would that make the Norse mythology idea come to more life, but Snakes don't use an XY sex determining system. They use a ZZ (males) and ZW (females) system.
2. Make the "third game" two sequels like B2/W2 and call them XX/XY.
I'm just saying they have the potential to be based off of all 3 things (biology, math, and norse mythology). I personally favor the biology perspective.
