[QUOTE="osan0"][QUOTE="PS3Compass"]Hasn't Sega already been bought out by a company called 'Sammy'? Cyber-
aye they have. however last i heard, sammy is hemmoraging money. so a sega sale wouldnt be complty impossible.
anywho no for 2 reasons.
1) a merger is a bad idea as it would mean that high end sega execs would gain power at ninty. a complete buyout would be better.
2) sega owns the creative assembly, the best strategy developer in the world. it would be a terrible tragedy to see the total war series go to pot. the series is one of those that actually uses the advancement of technology to better the gameplay. i dont mean to bash the wii here (i love it to bits) but, frankly, the console just wouldnt be able to do the series any justice at all. it just doesent have the grunt to pull it off (no console does). high powered PCs are essential for it. the chances of nintendo pubishing anything on the PC are slim to nill.
they would probabaly retain that PC status if nintendo bought Sega.
very unlikely. nintendo is a very stuborn company....as long as they have a console or handheld, they will never ever release anything or support anything that is not a nintendo platform. if ninty were to go 3rd party (fat chance) then total war wouldnt be affected. but thats not going to happen for a very long time, if ever. the CA wouldnt have a say in the matter. the staff could jump ship but the IP would remain the property of nintendo.
however if the total war series wasnt a factor, then i think it could lead to great things. lets not forget fzero-GX here. the best fzero in the series and an absolutely stonkingly good racer. published and funded by nintendo, but GX was developed by sega. theres clearly talent and passion in sega....its jsut seems to be a badly run company. a take over by ninty could mean far better management of sega and, since ninty would be at the helm, they would be in control of giving a project the green light and giving it to the right people. if a sonic game is not up to mustard then ninty can just cancel it. theyve done it before with many of their own projects. a merger would lead to a "lowest common denominator" type situation but a take over would mean that sega could be whipped into shape again.
