Possible Reason for Wolf Transformation in TP

This is completely unimportant but I ever since hearing that Link transformed into a wolf in TP I wanted to know why. Why not a lion? Or a rabbit? I beleive I may have found the reason. First of all the devs ofcourse wanted an animal transformation but how to to choose? Any Zelda TP animal transformation would have to fulfill three requirements:

1. It would need to be cool. No one wants to be a stupid animal.

2. It would need to be carnivorous a farely lethal predator. This would just work better with the fighting aspects.

3. Most importantly it would need to have some connection to twilight the game's main theme.

Now Wolves fill all requirements/

1. They are undeniably cool.

2. They are quite lethal and strong fighters.

3. Wolves are one of the very few possibley the only animal that has any connection to twilight. What are wolves known for? Howling. Contrary to popular beleif wolves (generally) do not howl at night to the moon. They howl (generally) only during the twilight hours to signal when the adults go out hunting and when they're returning.

I just thought that this was interesting.

Guess it was because it was his "spiritual animal". Imagine if you went through there or soemthing what do you think you would turn into?

I still think that instead of transforming into Wolf Link, he transforms into Dark Link. :P

Aonuma has actually said why Link transforms into a wolf:

"I wanted to shake up the Zelda concept a little. That's why early on, I brought up the suggestion that this time Link should transform into a wolf. I really felt that we needed a new twist of some sort. As for why I chose a wolf, it really was simply what occurred to me at the time. My intention was for it to just be one suggestion to get the ball rolling when we were discussing what kind of things we might do."

But maybe the reasons you brought up were subconsciously in the back of Aonuma's mind.
