I'll admit that I used to roll my eyes whenever High-Voltage made statements about making the Conduit look like a 360 game, but after seeing these massive improvements done in such a short amount of time, I'm starting to think that they might just come through with their promises. All of the weapon models and enemies seem to boast some impressive textures and the gameplay footage runs at a silky-smooth pace, but I still feel that there is plenty of room for improvement. Hopefully in the next couple of months, High-Voltage can put some effort into continuing to polish the visuals as well as taking some time to replace those God-awful environments, which if removed, would elevate the game significantly.
As far as gamepay is concerned, I have mixed feelings. I am certainly pleased that the developers have noted their inspiration from classics such as Goldeneye and Perfect Dark, but from what little gameplay I have seen, I honestly can't say too much. But hey, who is paying attention to this game for the gameplay? I care about this game for one reason and one reason only: it may be actual, living proof that the Wii is capable of impressive visuals. If it will have the most boring gameplay I have ever seen, I won't be able to care less as long as I get my fair share of normal mapping and dynamic lighting. Hey, if a crappy developer like High Voltage can make a pretty game, imagine what Factor 5 could do!
Anyways, I hope High-Voltage can use the remainder of their time to fix some of the game's issues and polish the graphics to an even more stellar level. I pray to God that this game sells like crazy, because if not, all it will say is that Wii owners really don't have a need for high-budged titles on their console.
