Prices (Un)Confirmed for Gamecube Wii-Makes

Wii-makes such as Mario Tennis, Donkey Kong Jungle Beat, Pikmin, and Metroid Prime will all have the price tag of 3800 yen, which is about $40 dollars.

**Edit - This does not necessarily mean that these games will be 40 dollars when released in North America because Japanese yen does not equal American dollars. There is still the possibility that these games could be 30 dollars or less.

New Wii releases are that much launch week.

That's too much for games with minimal improvements.

I'm just glad they didn't make them $50, or I'd have to contact a Nintendo rep and let them know what's up.

I'm sure that it won't be just tacked-on controls. These will be legit ports, with cleaned-up graphics and perhaps additional content. I'm kind of interested in Metroid Prime with Wii controls, but considering that I can pick up a used GC copy for $8 at Gamestop, I probably will get the old version.dmil1991

I would def not get your hopes up what so ever. If they do anything, it'll be 16:9 support and 480p resos. (which may have already been supported on the GC)

if anything these games should cost no more than 30$ a piece such as RE4. Anything other that price, is a rip-off imo.

Just because it is about $40 in Japan, doesn't mean it will be priced the same in the US.  When I visit Japan, I often find the price for a game to be much higher than then the price we pay here.  For example Brain Age wasn't a $20 game in Japan, when I went a few years ago.

How much does it cost to find these games NEW? Not much less than what Nintendo is asking, if at all. This can be easily ignored by those who don't care.. And this is great for people who haven't played these games, that want to buy them new, and that have excess money to spend.AlexSays

Uh, why is everyone making such a big deal out of this? Some Wii games go for 6800 yen and higher, that's double of the price for the remakes.

It's not as simple as a quick currency conversion. Japanese price = irrelevant unless you buy games there.

that seems reasonable to me. i'm definitely getting both pikmins.

here's a pic from nintendo's japanese site showing the japanese box art for all of the "play on wii" selection games. it also says on their japanese site that a traditional wii cover (you know, with only the white bar and wii logo on the top) will be included with each game. i'm guessing on the back of the other box art? (just a guess).

I just still can't believe that any of this is actually happening.

Way to cash in Nintendo.

We tend to get things a bit cheaper, so I'm guessing $30-$35.

If so, I'm psyched since these games are just begging for cool motion controls.
