Well, he didn't exactly START on the NES. He originated on the MSX in Japan, a type of home computer led by Microsoft. Bringing him to the NES was done at a later date, and had many changes in comparison to the original.

But that's irrelevant. Either way, Snake has been on Nintendo consoles in the past.
