Interesting read here. http://www.riottt.com/showSelectedNews.do?cid=0&eid=1437&authorid=63

Interview with the Exec Producer on Scarface:

"WAS THERE ANY RESISTANCE FROM NINTENDO WHEN YOU TOLD THEM YOU WANTED TO BRING THIS VERY M-RATED GAME TO THE WII?

I would say that Nintendo were the most inviting company in terms of, "We really want mature content. We want ours to be a system for all ages." They don't feel the system is just for little kids. Which I agree with. I've seen more older people have fun with the Wii than you can imagine. To watch my mom play with the Wii was something I never thought I'd see. She'd never pick up a 360 or PS3 controller. But she plays "Wii Sports" with the grandkids."

He also goes on to say how there were wiimote/gameplayfeatures he'd love to incorporate for a Scarface sequel.

Plus this interview portion with Ed Boon on Mortal Kombat Armageddon:

"WAS THERE ANYTHING ABOUT THE GAME THAT NINTENDO MADE YOU TAKE OUT BECAUSE IT WAS TOO GREUSOME?

Not at all. I think Nintendo recognizes that there is room for mature rated games in their library of available titles. We had zero problems with them in terms of us including the complete version of "Armageddon."

I'm sure many of you recall Reggie's conversation with GTA's creator about GTA on Wii. Reggie wants Rockstar support, and they're completely fine with Manhunt 2 avaliable in their library- a game that makes gore look like rainbows and flowers. Is this a sign for things to come? Reggie has partly to praise for this - he stated at E3 2004: "I've worked forproducts targeted at 18's and 20-somethings. And I learnt a while ago, there's no BS-ing that audience."

I probably wouldn't play any of those game myself, but it's good to know Nintendo is finally opening up. They can finally position themselves to take over again.

i didnt really mind the lack of 'mature' titles on the previous console, as long as i get my fix of a sandbox-type game, good fps, etc. once in a while.

Nintendo wants to attract ALL users.

The only concern is how many the base has of any one group. The Wii sales have grown to the point where mature games are sure to have enough users to buy them legally.

well im starting to realize that run-gun-gang-bang-fighting-streets-shooting games won't be any good for the wii. game developers should just stick with plain dual analog-A/Y/X/B button-d-pad-shoulder button configuration

i totally agree.. I think nintendo Was a ALL AGES company intil GC came out.... Then they got this very bad kiddy image.. But it kinda started back in the n64 days.. But now Ninty can lose the Kiddy image and they can get the All Ages image back..... i really hope to see a GTA game on Wii someday.. I dont really want GTA IV on wii, but a Wii Exclusive GTA

There's a tiny part in the back of my mind that's thinking Disaster could be Nintendo's first first-party "M" game. Here's to Disaster being a violent pop-and-shooter like Gears of War!

It's nice to see that Nintendo is getting some M rated support. I agree that this will help the system appeal to all types of gamers.

Good to hear, there are already more mature titles for Wii than the gamecube had in the same time frame.

Nintendo has ALWAYS wanted mature themed games I think, but now they are finally starting to attract these developers because of the Wii being more successful than the GameCube and Nintendo 64.

Yep, i think the very same thing.. See they as in Rockstar, willnot bring GTA IV over to wii.. But i know they would Make something Exclusive for Wii... I ould love a San andreas remake with some more features, and if possible a diffrent story line..

No more games "updated for wii". If they bring GTA to the Wii it needs to be built from scratch.

that's why we also have the classic controller and the GC controller that both work on the Wii.

Just on the whole 'I hope Manhunt 2 sells well' statement - what happens if it doesn't sell well? Many Nintendo fans here wouldn't even rent Mahunt 2, let alone buy it. It's not going to be bought by families, and it's not going to be bought by hardcore Nintendo fans. Then who will buy it?

I'm sure as hell going to buy it depending if I have to import and how well it's recieved, but is there anyone here who's willing to give Mahunt 2 a shot. Or are Nintendo fans just hoping someone else will buy a copy to support M-themed games?
