First, this anticipated animation app. was announced for a late summer 2013 release as a free app. for the 3DS That time came and went with no news or updates of any kind for almost two years. Finally, Nintendo announced a NA release date for Flipnote 3D this past February. However, it would only be available for Club Nintendo members for no explained reason. That and it would also only be available to Club Nintendo members for a very limited time (until Club Nintendo's closing on June 30th).
It just doesn't make sense. Why would Nintendo force people to join an already cancelled service in order for them to get an app. that many 3DS users have been avidly waiting for since it's announcement in 2013 (when they initially stated that it would be available for free for ALL eShop costumers). Since Nintendo Club closed at the end of June, Flipnote 3D is no longer available to anyone, and there has been no news and no mention of this app. ever being given a proper release as originally announced. This limited release was even more screwy and crooked due to the fact that numerous disinterested Club Nintendo customers (who had unwanted DL codes for the program) actually got away with selling their codes on eBay.
It's clearly a popular in-demand app. if people are willing to blow money on something that was intended to be free. It just doesn't make any sense why Nintendo can't give Flipnote Studio 3D a normal release on the eShop (like it's predecessor Flipnote Studio for the DSI was actually given) as well .
