How big is the difference between Wii games on a SD tv and on an HDTV with componet cables?

Oh God, why is this still being asked?
Do the forums at Toyota.com have posts like "Gasoline, how much of a difference without it?"
In order to get the CORRECT picture you need to use the cables
Would you like to do it right? Then use component cables
Ok, imagine the Earth and everyone who lives on it. Not a single person has a good argument about NOT using the component cables

I think you failed to understand the question.
He's not asking if you should use component cables on an HD tv, he's asking how big is the difference if you upgrade from an SDTV to and HDTV with the component cables.
I don't have an HDTV, so I can't comment on the difference, but clearly you didn't read his post and jsut had a knee jerk reaction to the key words "hdtv" and "component cables".

So he's looking for "correct"?
That would be the only one I can think of
Sharp/correct

Where in his post do you see anything about "correct"?
He's simply asking how big the difference between SDTV and HDTV is.
Some games it has a big difference and others minor, but welcome improvements. In other words: just get the cables, they're worth your money.

Wow man you really need to improve your reading comprehension
It's actually dependent on the game, some games look alot better in 480p as oppossed to 480i some have no significant difference, others actually show the rough edges a game has. So its a mix bag with no difenitive answers. An example of one that looks better is Metroid Prime 3.SepewrathExactly. My first impressions were off Twilight Princess and RE4:Wii Edition and I was very dissappointed. However, I think SMG and MP3 look awesome on an HDTV with component cables. Some GC games like F-Zero, WW, and MP/MP2 also look fantastic. It's completely up to the game your playing.
Big difference. Get the Component cables. It's worth it. The best way to describe it is like when you get your first pair of eye glasses, and everything looks different but better.
You can also play the GameCube games with the enhanced clarity of the component cables. Some GC games like Soul Caliber 2 and F-ZeroGX also support 16:9 Widescreen and look like fresh new games if you never played them with Component cables.

I guess that's just from the jump to 480i.[QUOTE="Sepewrath"]It's actually dependent on the game, some games look alot better in 480p as oppossed to 480i some have no significant difference, others actually show the rough edges a game has. I'm pretty sure that everything looks better 480p than 480i. All that's changed is that you're progressive scanning, not interlacing. As I understand it, "interlacing" means that means the odd and even lines are scanned vertically alternately, whereas with "progressive", they're all scanned in sequence. Seems pretty clear which will give you the better picture.
Hey I found a nice piccy on Wikipedia illustrating:
The difference though will be the size of your TV. When you get up to 46'', you might start noticing the jagged edges, or the fuzziness of the game if it's a port from an older system. For example, Galaxy looks a bit jaggy to me, and RE4 looks kinda smudgy.
On the other hand, colours appear more vibrant and I definitely prefer to play on my 46'' with 480p and component cables than on my old TV at 480i. The one thing I recommend is that, if you're going with an LCD TV, make SURE that it is not a crappy one that leaves "trails" behind. I think this is also called the "shadow effect" LCDs can, if you don't get a good one, show a trail of the colour of a fast-moving object on screen, unlike plasma TVs. This has to do with response time I think, but there are other factors, so make sure to test it out. The easiest way to tell if a set has problems with this is to test with a red colour. Either have a red object move across the screen fast, or run quickly around a red object and see if it shadows/trails across your screen as you/it move.

I guess that's just from the jump to 480i. Yeah most GC games ran in 480P, but hardly anyone had component cables for it. Nintendo only sold them through their online store and forbid 3rd parties to make them. Also all Gamecubes made after 2004 had the component out removed to save Nintendo like $2 per system.[QUOTE="Sepewrath"]It's actually dependent on the game, some games look alot better in 480p as oppossed to 480i some have no significant difference, others actually show the rough edges a game has.
