I cant believe he actually did it. SO Manhunt 2 is coming to Wii. This could mean more games in the future, hopefully Table Tennis and GTA.

Gaining Rockstar support would be huge. Though since a Bully sequel has basically a 0% chance I'm not hugely interested in Rockstar. Though it's great to see Manhunt coming because it's definitly a good sign that the Wii has potential to not be viewed as a 'kiddy' console. BUT first we need a Quality Mature title. Just having blood doesn't mean anything if the games are no good.I cant believe he actually did it. SO Manhunt 2 is coming to Wii. That's cool and all, I guess, but I have a feeling that they'll just port this game from the PS2. I doubt we'll see much better graphics that the Wii actually can handle. Let's just say that I'm not expecting first-party quality.LitchieI'd hate to say it but you're right.

This game has some serious potential for amazing Wiimote action. Or Wiimote murder, whatever you want to call it...

The kiddy image has to do with Nintendo franchises themselves and Miyamoto's work in particular not a lack of third party M-rated games. I don't care if people call them "kiddy" because they're colorful and can be enjoyed equally by all, I love Miyamoto's games.
Manhunt II will not be enough to curb the thoughtless use of the word "kiddy" when defining Nintendo and I couldn't care less.
I can't wait for no more heroes and sadness, the wii is getting rid of the kiddy image.Kakua_Omari

The simple fact it's being made for 3 consoles will limit the Wii version. And it probably was already in development for PS2 when Reggie went talk to Rockstar.

It will be released summer 2007, it takes a lot more time to make such improvements. Do you really think they started making Manhunt 2Â when Reggie asked something for Wii? So they had what, less than a year to make all 3 versions, and try to take advantage of the whole Wii hardware...
It obviously was planned as a PS2/PSP title, but Nintendo convinced them to make a Wii version. The Wii version will be damn limited, it's a fact.
Ilike the comments some of you added and I want to reiterate them.
First of all the Wii was never kiddy, it never had a kiddy image ever. It had the image of everyone playing it which is why it is the fastest selling console. Nintendo got the kiddy image from the GC era in which games like Zelda were lightened up so people thought it was kiddy. Fact is LoZ: WW was very mature due to its ground breaking battle system and its complex story. So it just shows you that as much as GC was NOT a kiddy system, Wii is much more centered on "mature" games.
Second of all, as of right now its unknown whether Manhunt II is just a simple PS2 port because they are making the games in different locations but it is also being released around the time of PS2. Another thing to consider is that when Reggie anounced that he was talking to Rockstar does not mean he was doing it much earlier. Also even if this game is a port it opens a new partnership with Rockstar so no matter what it is good and if the game is successful we will definitely see more games from them.
Thirdly, I dont like Rockstar much eaither but I do enjoy some games like Manhunt. Also it opens a HUGE fanbase for Wii. Mainly casuals, you know the GTA type of players that thinks blood and guts are the essentials to gaming. This is only good because it means more support for Wii and more games for us.

Exacly its not a port. A port is when a game comes and is only planed for either one or more systems. Then like 6months later or so the same game is annouced again for a different system that is a port. Manhunt 2 is multiplatform not a port. Also the wii version could look better. I mean some xbox games looked better then thier ps2 countpart. I cant wait for this game either way. I loved part 1 and I cant wait for part 2.

I never said it was a port. The Wii version will not be as good as if it was a Wii exclusive. Can you understand that? I'm sure you can. It will look barely better that the PS2 version as Rockstar won't remake every model and texture for the Wii version, it won't control perfectly because Rockstar won't make many new animations (if they actually make some) for the Wii version. After all, it's not a game planned to be a Wii exclusive, and Rockstar knows PS2 hardware just too much to care about discovering what the Wii can do. Gotcha?
this is just R*'s way of throwing a bone to Nintendo and testing the waters of their userbase, to see if they have an audience with those who have a Nintendo Wii. although with the type of games that R* usually makes (free-roaming games), i doubt that R* will give Nintendo something big like GTA.c0mplex
I wouldint care if they brought gta or not. I rather have a new IP insted.Â
I don't understand people's logic here. It IS a port! They made the engine or optimised to engine from the 1st Manhunt, and decided it to put it over to Wii. Like Wintry said, it was already in development for PS2 months ago and Rockstar decided "well, let's just ship what he have made of manhunt 2 on ps2 to those other rockstar guys where they can have 6 months to put it on wii hardware, give it a slight upgrade in visuals and wii controls. Brilliant!"
It's funny since EA is putting the most effort into their 'ports' or 'last-gen' games as the Godfather actually has its own upgrades OTHER than wii controls and visuals to the game. Manhunt 2 will most likely be identical on all platforms.
If Nintendo can keep getting great third party support like Nibris, Ea, rockstar, and capcom. they might just shed that Nintendo image. just imagine manhunt 2.
are you going to swing the nunchuck cord around an imaginary neck like a fiber wire. are you gonna swing the wiimote like a machete. are you gonna act out the death sequences. what if they regain control while doing it and you have to fight them off and continue to torture them. there are so many possibilities that could make the wii version the most mature just due to the immersion.

The GameCube had Resident Evil 4, Killer 7, and Eternal Darkness and those games didn't do a thing for the GameCube's image. Manhunt 2 will probably not help at all.

I think there is a little understanding here. By port they mean using the same structure as the PS2 one. Maybe they will upgrade it slightly but most likely it will be a carbon copy in terms of visuals. Then they will use motion sensing controls making it superior to every version. Depending on how good they are with recycled animations the actions done with the motion sensor will be mediocre to terrible. Now if they use new animations then it will most likely be well implemented motion controls. So there are many levels of recycling and new development they could use.
If they were smart, they would make the Wii game from the ground up using the new engine for Wii and action specific motion controls. As Wintry was saying they will probably port most of the PS2 material for the Wii version. Who knows they may be able to improvise it really good, but it will never be as a good as a Wii specific game.

This isn't GC anymore, And it's not about image. The wii is already leading the gaming charts with it's popularity right now, obviously companies notice this and will want to make games for a popular system. The dilemma with the GC is that Sony was the more popular household system and that companies did not see the profit in producing GC titles. So we all know that wii has great party games and wonderful first party support so far, but we can also expect to see many more 'mature' games as well because of the fact that it has a lot more support.[QUOTE="Kreatzion"][QUOTE="FLYmeatwad"][QUOTE="coonana"]Gaining Rockstar support would be huge. The reason the GC was considered "kiddy" is for a couple of reasons.
It launched with the color PURPLE. I’m sorry Nintendo but bad move. Granted half a year later they produced new colors but purple is not a good marketing color and screams "I’m for kids" next it launched at the same time the Xbox launched.
A month or two went on for both and guess what happened. Halo launched. Which annihilated the competition. Buyers looked at both consoles and were like o the Xbox has fps's, the GC doesn’t. This caused Xbox to sell so well. Games like ED: SR were shadowed and sold horribly. I recently picked up eternal darkness for 12 bucks used at GS. Bargain.
So now with the Wii the color makes it look rather ipod like. Which is a good thing. Consumers think it looks sleek and they can still fall back on the great Nintendo franchises. Promises of superb motion control give consumers something to gawk at. "imagine playing teh fps with teh motion control, imagine chainsawing people in half with teh motion control" is what the average blood thirsty 15 year old looks for. So this is why the Wii IMO is doing so well. It just shows so much possibility and potential that when that uber violent game does come out. The kids are going to eat it up.
Look at red steel. Technically the game is horrible and completely broken. But look its "red" steel. Implying blood/gory katana cuts and hardcore gun fights. Red Steel is the 2nd most purchased game for the Wii. You ask why. Because the consumer is shallow and only wants the next big blood bath. Granted I do own red steel. And it is quite fun. But considering it could have been better and it is quite clunky. I’m very surprised it has sold so well. (btw ‘ bloggin this).
my prediction-san andreas stories for Wii, think about it, manhunt 2 is coming on psp and ps2 and the GTA stories have come out on ps2 and psp so maybe the next one (i'd say it's inevitable) will be on wii tobobbetybobmeh... the story series of the GTA franchise are mediocre since the game is always limited to what the PSP can do.

for all we know it could have been in development quite a long time, no one really knows for sure, yeah we can assume, and guess, and use prior statements, but all in all does that change the quality of the game? i for one just say wait till you get your hands on it then make judgements.
for the people tht say wii isnt kiddy ....no ofense cause i love nintendo and all their "kiddy" games...but nintendo is kinda kiddy especially wii sports because it says all these safty messages every couple of minutes like on the one loading screen "its good to take a break and rest"........but whats so bad about being kiddy anyways most kiddy games are some of the best games ever like pokemon, ratchet and clank, crash bandicoot, animal crossing, donkey kong.....pokekombat

Nintendo got the "Kiddy" reputation last generation from a lot ignorant gaming fans who craved the "GTA" way of gaming. Is mario kiddy? no. Nintendo is not Kiddy, nor was it ever, the bottom line is people like to talk trash and act ignorant. The Gamecube was deprived by developers, so "kiddy" was just a way to rub it in Cube fans faces. Therefore, Please ... Please dont refer to Nintendo as "Kiddy" again....  Â
I agree... I mean we forget that GoldenEye 64 and Perfect Dark came debuted on the NINTENDO64. Lets not forget about Turok, WWC/NWO Revenge, and other games have come to the Big N! Resident Evil has been with the Big N for years. Wasn't Killer Instinct on the SNES?! I think this person is exactly right about where this "image" came from.... I don't see any kiddy kids completing Zelda without a game guide, let alone some of you adults. MOST of the people reading and writing in this forum either own or plan to own a Wii, so SHUT UP and play, kiddie or not, the BIG N is making money off of you and I. Bottom Line!
