I heard the nintendo company was redoing Ocorina of time with better graphics.BMX-boy131
You heard wrong. :)
Surfer Girl again? Gimme a break.
Plus Retro working on Zelda would be a waste. They should make their own new IP.
[QUOTE="vnc20100"]Mario RPG is one the greatest Mario games. Why not Zelda. Zelda is a rich world that can be exploited in many different ways. You need to make changes in videogames industry, that's how you survive, look at the Wii and DS. And it's not because Turn Based Rpgs Have been made a lot in the past years that it cannot being reintroduced again. There's a market for that, Blue Dragon (yes I know, not everyone liked it), Lost Odysey, Eternal Sonata (well kinda, more of a hybrid turn/action) not all people like third person adventure games.

Mario RPG may be an amazing game, but it hardly feels like a genuine Mario game. It says Square all over it, from the gameplay to the characters.
Sigh, it'S not because you don't like RPGs that it couldn't work.. anyway. I still think it could work... We will have to wait and see.

Where do I say I don't like RPGs? :| I just said Super Mario RPG is an amazing game...
i think if they make it it will be about Midna. i have heard that if there was a spin off it would be about Midnaaeropride
I wonder where people hear such stuff... The closest rumor to that is a stealth game telling how Zelda/Sheik survived during the seven years that Link was "sleeping" in the Chamber of Sages.

Sorry, it's just that you didn't seem to like that genre very much because of your previous statments. Zelda RPG could be a spinoff and work well and still keep the original formula... but with Myamoto statments, I don't think we will see the original formula anytime soon.

And what's so damn original in an RPG? If you're going to answer "oh, but they can find some way to innovate turn based combat!", I'll just answer "so can they innovate action/adventure".
According to Miyamoto's statements? Are you aware he claimed TP is "the last Zelda of its kind"? And that Aonuma has "a child like excitement for something as new [as the next Zelda]"?
People act as if there were twenty near identical 3D Zeldas. I guess I should remind you all that before TP, the first to be so fiercely criticized for being "more of the same", there were only three 3D Zeldas, which were amazing achievements on their own rights. I don't need to comment about OoT, MM featured a downright mind blowing time/sidequest system, not to mention the masks, WW came up with never before seen art and atmosphere. Only TP didn't really innovate (since the so-called new elements were heavily overshadowed by the too-much-traditional elements) and now people act as if it has been so for 15 years... TP was, in many aspects, an error, as it didn't feature anything new, risky or surprising, as we would expect from a high profile Nintendo game. But saying the Zelda's formula is broken is going too far.
I have to agree about turn-based RPGs being a nearly worn-out formula. If Zelda's going to go RPG, it should do so in the vein of Phantasy Star Online or the like. You could still have the action element while throwing in leveling, and tons of weapons, armor, and customization options. Maybe even throw in online? It would be a great draw if implimented correctly. I certainly wouldn't mind playing something of this nature.
However, I agree that it would be great to see a new IP. I was extremely impressed with the Prime trilogy, and I'd be excited to see what they can come up with on their own.

I know trun based rpgs are not ground breaking. but it was left out for some time, a come back wouldn't be bad. Well I expplained myself in a previous post about that. I think a zelda RPG would be great, but it doesn't have to be a sequel but more of a spinoff. I'm not the only one who misses TRPG and I think The Zelda universe is rich enough to have that kind of game. But I didn't want to start a war or anything, sorry if I offended you. And we will have to see about the new Zelda, it probably won't be a TRPG, but I'm sure it will be awesome.
[QUOTE="bob_newman"]Does somebody want to tell me who, or what, is sufergirl?
I've only heard bad things about him/her/it, and I have no idea what made his/her/its claim to fame?
pikma
surfergirl claims to be an insider and to know this kind of stuff. Oddly, she/he/it seems to be an insider of every company, given the amount of rumors she/he/it spreads daily.
The problem with surfergirl is that the person who posts there, who does have some legit sources, also liberally mixes in speculation and less credible rumors and tips that they recieve.
The most direct chain seems to be from EA, and Ubisoft Montreal. Outside of those companies though, I believe there is at least one or two more people in the chain from the source to the surfergirl blog.
For instance, the Sonic RPG, surfergirl had the name in total, but also posted Sonic Chronicles and The Dark Brotherhood as two separate games.
So I'm hoping this story is partially right, that Retro is working on a fantasy adventure game, but that its not a Zelda-spinoff.
