Rumour: Double USB Hard Drive for Wii?

A new rumour is suggesting a "double USB hard drive" storage solution is on the way for Nintendo's living room Wii.

AQJ.nettipster says the additional storage mounts on the back end of the Wii, designed to look like a natural extension (think Xbox 360's hard-drive attachment). A firmware upgrade will be required to use it, and once that's setup, content from the Wii Shop channel can be shoved across. The report also proposes 32 and 64GB models.

What's meant by "double USB" is a little uncertain, but likely requiring both USB slots to be powered, like some high-capacity USB drives and peripherals.

This is probably bs but you never know, maybe Nintendo listens after all.

If you have a Unit that plugs into both the USB port and sits flush on the back of the Wii can you see the problems that would cause?

The power and TV out would have to have through ports as would the Wii-mote bar.

Then you have to somehow very the Wii as well.

You'd do better to have box that sits along side the wii, flush with it and plugs into the USB ports on the back leaving everything else free.

Taking up both of the USB slots is not a good idea. Nintendo's own product.. Wii Speak uses one of these slots.. plus there are many other add ons which use one of the USB ports. This tends me to belive it is all rumor and will not happen.

All that they need to do is let us use the SD card! How hard can it be? Save the hard drive for next gen

A 2,5 " disc only requires one USB port.
A 3,5 " disc usually has an external power source.

A HDD will probably never happen.

I call bs as well. Nintendo should have done this a long time ago.

i like how NO ONE including the source thinks it means two USB ports ON THE HDD not using TWO usb ports

most USB HDD need one USB port (that are 2.5)

so i'd guess, that though this doesn't seem likely, it would probabl have usb portss on the HDD to make up for always needing to use one

seriously nintendo make a new Wii stand that has a HDD, uses a USB cable to plug into wii's current usb ports mke it like 20GB and we're happy all of this could be under $50 being that 250GB HDD cost $100 nowadays a 20GB isn't asking that much

Happy? v.v
