Hi I bought an SD card a couple of days ago and it's an official nintendo one holding up to 1GB

When I tried copying all of my VC games over to the SD card most of them come up with a message saying that they couldn't be copied over, or in some cases just partically saved.

However I did not format the card before I put in in the Wii SD card slot.

Is it necessary to format the card before I put the games onto the SD card?

The other query I have is where do you normally find the SD card slot on your computer? - i can't seem to find mine

And is there something you can buy to attach the SD card to so that it can be connected onto the computer?

Many thanks,

JAK3

www.newegg.com

Go there and put in SD card reader

As for the rest it depends on the game, don't worry though Nintendo allows you unlimited online storage for all your games

Luckily my printer has SD card slots in it but I think you have to buy an SD card reader.

Quite a number of computers have SD card slots in them especially newer ones. Not being allowed to copy over the vc games you are aware the actual game is the channel right? Besides you cannot play the games from the SD card it's just for backing them up or transfering ones you may not want to play for awhile freeing up space from the virtual memory.

Thanks for all of your messages, but you still haven't really answered my queries.

Does the memory card have to be formatted BEFORE copying VC games over onto the card? The SD card is an official nintendo one and has a memory of 1GB.

And also, is it normal for some VC games to be partially saved when copied or not being able to be copied at all? Because that is the message I keep getting when trying to copy these particular games, e.g. kirby's adventure land - partial save

I understand that the cards are for back-up purposes and not for playing games on the wii

Finally, i don't think my computer has an SD card slot to what and where can i get a device that can hook on to the computer and be used to put memory SD cards in? Because i'm very sceptical over this formatting card thing

You have to copy the save and channel. You may have turned off the power or had a power failure when exiting Kirby's adventure or those other vc games. This would cause the save to be corrupted. Play the game and exit to home then try to copy. Also look in the SD card memory and delete what is there. You can do this on the wii if you read the manual. It's the same way you delete and copy data from the gamecube memory cards. The card is already formatted. There are usb SD card readers for sale online. SD card slots on your comp look just like the wii SD card slot. They often have the lettering SD near the slot. Also in your drive directory you will see the SD card drive listed. Most newer comps of the past two years have SD card slots as well as several other memory card formats.

No.

No. I have no idea what you're talking about there. Definitely not normal, but it could be a glitch with the wii and certain VC games.

One person actually already told you an answser to this. Go to newegg.com, you can probably find a USB SD reader for around $5 or less. Don't be skeptical. Just do it.

The copies are encrypted so they only work on the wii they were downloaded onto.

so why would you put vc games onto your wii sd card and then put that card onto the comp? is this just for videos, photos, music, etc?
