Should I be tarred and feathered.......??

I've been a Nintendo fan since I got my first chunky monochrome Gameboy all thoseyears ago and I've owned all the systems at some point or other. With all the excitement surrounding SSBB and MP3 I have to admit that I've never played a Smash Brothers game and I didn't really enjoy MP1 or 2. My double barrelled question is this: is Smash Brothers actually THAT amazing, and should I be beaten over the head with my Wiimote for not being excited about MP3?
