none of my friends like it so I would be playing it alone, or online (if online play is even fun, I've heard it's not very good). Worth it?

Sure why not if you think youll like it. As long as you have fun with it.
I dont play online for any game, only singler player and I still plan on getting Brawl. Ive wanted itfor awhile now but I dont have the money and other stuff came up. You dont need online to have funya know, and if you do have your Wii online then you can only get that much more fun out of it.
Unless you can deal with the lag on online, no. It's just not the same awesome experience by yourself.
The game still offers quite a lot of gameplay for single player, but the game is about a million times better when you have a bunch of friends who love playing the game too. You really need to find people to play this with
I recommend renting first.
For me personally, my situation sounds much like yours, and SSBB is one of the few games I've regretted purchasing since getting my Gamecube like 7 years ago. And I've got some games that others would call real stinkers, like Red Steel, GoldenEye Rogue Agent, and every Gamecube Splinter Cell. I'd take any of them over SSBB, though.
Its fairly boring by yourself against the game's AI, and the online was so terrible that I would commonly try 4 or 5 times to get connected into some actual matches. I spent more time beating on the punching bag thing then on other actual players. So, for me, online was virtually unplayable. And none of the people that I encounter ever really took to it.
Try before you buy...
It'll be fun for a little while, but over time you'll run out of things to do if you dont have local multiplayer to do.-Fromage-that is not true this game never gets boring why u think the made 3 gms in the series bekaz people are addicted to this stuff cmon son
Absolutely yes. You do not need to play with friends to have fun. Just play multiplayer and put yourself against computers. Its nearly as fun.
I've bee playing it alone since I got it. However it's really gets play once in a while when the desire hits me. Then I'll play through it with a character in a sitting. Sometimes I simply like watching as a spectator as the replays of past online fights play. There is enough collectibles to make playing through the game several times worthwhile if you are interested in seeing what's there. A whole section is goal based as well which can be interesting to unlock. They did take into account that not everyone would be playing the game online or with others all the time if at all. So I think it is worthwhile to purchase if you play alone.
I only really played the original on the N64 a lot with others. Didn't play Melee but I got caught up in the hype for Brawl (hate when that happens) but I haven't regretted the purchase the way I have some other games I've gotten this generation (GTA4 for example).
It's worth buying to play alone but not at $50. Find it on Amazon or other online retailers at a lower price and buy it for like $30. It's totally worth it.
Subspace Emissary will take around ten hours, you also have Event Mode which is pretty crazy too. Add in local fights against CPU and it's easily worth it at a reduced price. However, your enjoyment of Brawl will not be the same as those that play locally with other people. I only bust out Brawl when there are others around to play with (at least two other people if not even more to alternate). It gets insanely fun and you won't look back.
Think of it this way, GS gave the game a 9.5, right? If you aren't playing with other people than think of it as a 7.5. It's still fun, but it is far from the same experience. Though, convince your loser friends. They'll change their minds after playing the game, I promise. ;)
Just like any game for the Wii, more = better, but it's worth buying, especially if you find it used.
I think the online gaming works great, depending on your connnection. I've never experienced any lag in the battles that I've played.
There are tons of unlockable things as well. Sometimes it's fun to place coin bets on online fights as a spectator, if you're into betting, etc. You can use the coins to unlock stuff. It's a bit more than just a fighting game. I enjoy playing it alone, but of course it's more fun with friends.
it doesnt suck its just people have a bad connection or they just hating but you know whats so funny these people hate on the game but they play it everydayWhy do people say the online sucks? i personally love the online. I could spend playing online the whole day if i didnt have a life lol.
