If they are getting hot, then I would say yes. I doubt it would do much if any damage, but I would be on the safe side and just take the game out.

I take mine out when I'm done, there's always the chance that the disc is somehow damaging the laser lens when left in, plus it's become a habit with me.

Heat is not good for biodegradable materials such as DVDs. Take out the disc when finished.

Your fine. The lasers not on unless the system is reading the disk. It's the cpu that's getting hot. Again, your fine, leave it in.

I just got 0wned, as I cannot remember much of my organic chemistry anymore. Still, the data life span of an optical media is around 100 years, thats why I asssumed DVDs were biodegradable material.

I just turned Wiiconnect24 off.  It's a cool idea, but the number of updates I've gotten I can count on one hand not counting my thumb.  I can get those updates without wiiconnect24 anyway, so all disabling it does is keep the Wii cool when it's not in use.

I leave the disc in all the time. I've even left the Wii on 4 days straight (playing Twilight Princess at college) without any problems - disc or heat or otherwise.

I always do because they do get really hot. I don't know if it will do any damage to the disc, but I do just to be safe.
