You do realise that 2DS is just a 3DS without 3D effect. :P
I would like to see Nintendo at least buy up some of Capcom's stock (kind of like what they did with Monolith soft before they became wholly owned).
Ensuring exclusives but also giving Capcom the room to work on other Consoles (which could give Nintendo potentially even more returns in their investment).
First off I don't think a lot of people truly know what's going on as of right now ( some people say this some websites say this instead) but most likely it's the beginning of the end for Capcom.
I would love to see Nintendo buy them out ( with all their names and even their name) I have a big fantasy to see Bayonetta and Devil May cry crossover :)
If Microsoft buys them lets hope they dont Rare them.
Make them 5 times more profitable than they were before?
God that would be awful, all those jobs and expanding the industry, goodness no!
...but makes games that are really bad.
Seriously though, do you have a source for that statement? That they're five times more profitable?
Nintendo should buy Monster Hunter and MegaMan.
Sony should buy Resident Evil and Devil May Cry.
DMC was always an exclusive franchise to PS until recently, Megaman fits with the other Nintendo characters, and let's face it..Resident Evil always played and looked better on Playstation.

I agree. I can see Viewtiful Joe on either Sony or Nintendo.
Nintendo has been hemorrhaging money for close to 4 years now, it doesn't matter if they want to they don't have the money.
That depends. This may not be entirely accurate, but from what I'm reading Capcom is worth something like 1.25 billion dollars. Now, depending on how much of Nintendo's accumulated wealth is money they can actually spend -- and noting that Nintendo doesn't need to pony up 1.25 billion dollars to control the company, but rather 51% of the company -- it's entirely *possible* that Nintendo could purchase a controlling stake in Capcom and make them a second party studio.
Now, I think money is the least important factor in the matter, as it's not a simple process of dishing out enough money to gain a controlling stake in Capcom, but also finding a way to justify that to the investors when, as you stated, they've burned almost a billion dollars over the course of the last three years, and convincing them that investment would be returned and exceeded, which is no guarantee. And I don't think the investors are going to gamble on something that's not a sure-fire hit right now.
With that said, I think it would great for Nintendo gamers if Nintendo made Capcom's IP Nintendo exclusive.
If Microsoft buys them lets hope they dont Rare them.

That's great for Microsoft, but the way they got there was awful for people who loved Rare before Microsoft bought them -- when they were making some of the best games around.
lol! Nintendo would be doing capcom a favor if they took over. There would be cuts first though. They would have to make Capcom lean so they aren't naturally bleeding money. Then they would take their most popular IPs and start to work with them to reimagine them into something good. If any company can make Capcom turn a corner it will be Nintendo.
if Microbribe bought them I'd never play another of their games since I'll never own a M$ system in this lifetime. I think it would be great for either Sony or Nintendo to acquire them since then we'd see optimized games for once and not dumbed down multi-platform wastes of time.
Nintendo doesn't have the necessary capital to purchase Capcom. They have cash, assets, etc., a significant amount. But once a company is "taken over", we're talking salaries, benefits, development costs. Nintendo does not have the finances to fund a proper takeover. Would they do a good job with the IP's? Better than most I'd presume. But, Nintendo as a company would be silly to spend a significant amount of cash when there's simply not enough coming in.
The reality is I'd venture a guess that Capcom would sell for in and around 1 Billion. It's just too much.
If Capcom was willing to sell some of it's IP's *cough*Megaman*cough*, then absolutely Nintendo should look to purchase some.
But I definitely don't see a takeover happening from Nintendo.
Nintendo should buy Monster Hunter and MegaMan.
Sony should buy Resident Evil and Devil May Cry.

RE4 looked better on GC.
Since I haven't played a Capcom and have only heard of their douchy exploits,I say sure. Phoenix Wright and Megaman FTW!
If Nintendo does buy out Capcom, they need to ensure that they can bring back the talent that made Capcom such an amazing development house in its heyday. If I were Nintendo, my first mark would be Keiji Inafune. Being that Nintendo and Capcom have a long history together, and in the interest of maintaining Nintendo's family-friendly image, it seems natural that the Mega Man franchise should be one of the first things Nintendo secures. I would let Inafune have the creative freedom he always desired before starting Comcept and allow him to take the risks on new IP's or new directions with his own franchises (as we all know, Nintendo's big on taking risks). Inafune would have to work within Nintendo's strict quality control policies, but I cannot imagine a scenario where he won't have full creative control over his projects - Mega Man Legends 3 may even see the light of day.
The biggest problem with Nintendo buying out Capcom would be what happens to the other, less family-friendly franchises. Would Nintendo bury Resident Evil and Street Fighter, or would they be willing to part ways with the IP's so that other developers can bring them back up to standards? Again, if I were Nintendo, I would take full advantage of the opportunity to begin evolving the company image from high-quality but family-friendly to a company that has grown up with all the people who made up their fan base during their childhoods and can provide the high-quality gaming experience that we all grew up with playing Nintendo with the franchises we have all come to love as adults. If Nintendo can put their polish on these amazing franchises and limit things like Game Pads and motion controls to a minimum (unless they truly can enrich the gameplay experience of a given title and not just act as an inventory screen), then Nintendo may justify the purchase of a Wii U for more than Mario Kart 8 or the new Legend of Zelda.
Considering that Nintendo is bleeding money right now, it might not be a bad idea to get capcom. If they are gonna be losing money, do it in a meaningful way. Acquiring Capcom and all its IP's is one step. They'll be getting series that appeal to the western crowd (Something Nintendo DESPERATELY needs to do right now) such as Devil May Cry, possible revival of Onimusha, possible reboot and return of Dino Crisis (I see Retro being a good candidate for handling this series), Resident Evil, Street Fighters, etc., and they'll be getting series that appeal to the Japanese market like the potential return of Viewtiful Joe, Megaman, Monster Hunters, Possible return of Okami, Pheonix Wright: Ace Attorney, Powerstone (? Or is that a Sega series?), etc. If 3rd party devs don't want to support Wii U, then buy a major dev to compensate for their lack of support. Especially one that has a vast range of IP's that can plug in many of the holes that Nintendo has in its gaming pool.
I'm sure they will need to downsize Capcom after they acquire them, but its necessary for the time being (And they can always hand projects to some of their in-house studio's). And any financial problems should be able to sustain after the release of Smash Bros. 4 for both Wii U and 3DS, hopefully long enough til they consider their next course of action.
Side note: And I think its in Nintendo's best interest to "Harvest/Carve" off of Factor 5 corpse the Star Wars Rouge Squadron rights. If advertised correctly (Especially if they add online functionality to it), an HD remake of Star Wars RS 3 would possibly create huge support for the Wii U...
I am in the crowd of people here basically saying if Nintendo cannot even be profitable with it's own properties, it isn't a good time to be absorbing other entities. I hope Nintendo can get some of Capcom's properties one day. Megaman in a SM3DW setting would be entirely fascinating.
It'll be a great move for Nintendo to own both Megaman and Monster Hunter. I'd be worried about how fans would react with Street Fighter and Resident Evil as Nintendo exclusives, but it'll definitely be beneficial for Nintendo as it will force fans to buy their consoles.
HD Okami and Viewtiful Joe sequels pls.
I was somewhat with you until you said Viewtiful Joe. They can let that trash stay buried.

You guys are both wrong.
Rare was pretty garbage even before Nintendo sold them to Microsoft.
Rare continues to be garbage even under Microsoft, I'm sure they regret buying Rare all together at this point.
Nintendo need to buy MEGAMAN, they just need to do it, its nothing to talk about, MEGA MAN!
Mega man = Wii U saved.
I believe they should buy SOME franchises from Capcom, but not the entire company.
Games like Resident Evil need to be multiconsole. Especially since Resident Evil started on Playstation, and lets face it, more RE Fans own a Playstation or Xbox because Capcom rarely releases nintendo RE games anymore. Revelations was the first in a decade (not counting those spinoff rail shooters on Wii)
Well the main value of Capcom today is the ips they hold. So it would probably be better for them to go bankrupt and sell off their franchises, if you want Nintendo with any of their ips that is.

If Nintendo was going to purchase Capcom ips Resident Evil would probably be high on their list. Considering how they made deals with capcom just for that franchise before, similar to the Monster Hunter deal they did recently.
@Devil-Itachi:
Yes, and those deals always "Fell Through".
Capcom and Nintendo did a 3 game exclusive deal for the gamecube in 2002, which spanned Remake, Zero and 4. The sales were bad for all 3, which is why capcom broke the deal and ported RE4 to PC and PS2, and eventually PS3/360 later on. Same happened with Chronicles. Those 2 rail shooters were a result of a deal with Capcom and Nintendo. Those still got ported to PS3 because of the same reason as before: Low Sales.
Revelations? Ported.
Resident Evil doesn't do well on Nintendo. It wouldn't be wise to make them exclusive. Megaman, Monster Hunter and Okami I can see, but not Resident Evil.
Anyways, While I would feel bad for the employees, I am hoping Capcom goes bankrupt and does what THQ did. All of the THQ franchises went to THIRD PARTY devs and it worked out for everyone. But a first party dev obtaining Capcom IP's will not be fair for everyone because they will be made exclusive to whatever system the first party dev makes.
I want them to because a want a mega man in the style of new super Mario bros as a reboot like they did with 2d Mario.

Were talking about Nintendo buying it from Capcom. So you're point doesn't really resonate, Nintendo's interest in the franchise seems much more relevant than Capcom backing out.. who wouldn't be involved if Nintendo bought it.
Third party devs getting the franchises would probably be best in regards to the big franchises like Resident Evil, Mega Man, Street Fighter, DMC etc but it's also quite possible that nearly everything else could disappear completely depending on who buys it similar to nearly all acclaim franchises.
Though a pet peeve "everyone" in this instance seems to imply everyone but Nintendo fans.
I have to say I highly doubt Resident Evil, Mega Man or Street Fighter could possible "Disappear" like Acclaim franchises only because of their popularity and sales. Devil May Cry and Dead Rising are different stories, and Dino Crisis is already dead.
Don't get me wrong, many would adapt to Nintendo owning them in time, like they did to RE Being exclusive to Gamecube in the early 2000s (Before it failed in sales); but these franchises need to stay multiconsole. Just too many fans in each that would be isolated if it becomes console exclusive.

That's what i was saying, was talking about everything else disappearing. Though was perhaps a little generous in regards to DMC which could possibly die in the wrong hands as well.
In regards to Dino Crisis being dead, with it being in Capcom hands there is a little chance that at some point they will revive it like they did with Bionic Commando for instance last generation. While another party is more likely to just sit on it forever.
